picking one up to replace my freeride that ive been riding for 4 years now, you guys honestly make the best boards ive ridden. ive bought other decks, but i keep coming back to my freeride. you guys rock, please keep making phenomenal boards
Watching these videos gets so sentimental for me, reminds me of the days when I could skate all day. It took me 3 months to save up for my diamond drop back in 2013, once I got that board, skating changed for me, I’ll never forget when I learned my first shuvit, it was all uphill from there.
Great video Original. PLEASE upload some videos teaching people how to do tricks that are shown in some of your edits. I think people will benefit from them greatly!
I just got the Apex 40! In love! Going back to the roots hehe. Im actually thinking about getting the 37 Diamond drop since im moire of a smaller board type of guy! still. This is the board that started it all for me and my buds.! Stoked!
iv had the apex 40 for a while now and its by far my favorite board with the right setup you can bomb some serious hills and even throw in some free style its awesome i love it!
this board made me progress a hell of alot more with my slides than my previous 2 ever did, its super comfortable, and has the perfect amount of flex, its so diverse that you could go for a long toeside then 360 shuv right after with the help of the amazing kicktails, a freeride and freestyle monster!
my friend has a diamond drop 37 its an amazing board its so nice the drops feel great under your foot lock you in for slides the kicks are over powered in a way as the board is so light yet really durable overall one of the best boards i have ever ridden its amazing definitely would recommend
Thanks for the stoke Robert! There sure was a lot of blood sweat and tears baked into that DiamondDrop, great to see it's doing it's job for you and your buddy. I rock an Apex 40 DD any time I am going to include some trickery in my ride and I am with you, super unique concave that enables tricks as well as slides. If you liked that, be sure to check out a Vecter if you get into downhill. Similar concave concept, downhill oriented all the way. Keep in touch!
looks like a perfect choice for my next board. Currently riding the apex 37 double concave and its already fun to free ride on. Really excited to see how the diamond drop will compare to my current ride.
Hey Zairi, stoked that you're enjoying the double concave. The first time I put my feet on the platform of the diamonddrop, I was hooked and totally stoked (coming from the double concave). Excited for you to pick it up. Please check back in and let us know what you think once you get the deck. Thanks for the support.
just got mine this afternoon the only thing is that there's still a lot of snow in my country but the board looks amazing and i can't wait to try it out :)
Charles-Antoine Lemire Awesome on getting the board. Not so awesome on the snow. Fingers crossed that it melts quickly and you can get out on the road sooner than later! Let us know what you think of it once you get it on the road!
The board is awesome! The powerslides are very smooth but not so good in downhill races. For downhill races I still take my freeride 41. Overall the apex 40 dd is a really good board and I very like it.
I bought the apex 37 with paris trucks Amanda Powell model, and also with redz bearings divine 82a bushings and purple orangatang stimulus 83a ,I really love it
Tom cpl.tu Hey Tom! Thanks for the support! Stoked you are enjoying your Apex 37. It's one of my favorite boards for sure. That sounds like a fun setup.
***** Are you searching for a new deck? There are different decks at different price points. We may be able to help you find something that fits into your budget.
That board looks suit bros I just ordered my self the 37 classic looking to. Get the free-ride 41 your boards are awesome and thanks for getting me into boarding
Hell yeah IDT, thanks for the good word. The DiamondDrop is a seriously killer option if you are into freestyle / tricks and sort of builds a lot on what we learned from the developing the kicktails for that Freeride 41 you have. Stoked you like the look of it!
Mime Slayer New Orleans is a beautiful city filled with the most amazing people. The people really construct the culture of this colorful city, which made it the perfect backdrop for this board. It's a great board. Let us know if you need any help with it.
Thanks! I really have had little to no interaction with other companies before you, so I am glad to see that some PR groups still care about the customer on a personal level. I am a huge fan of almost everything you do. I quite possibly may be getting this board in the future. Cheers.
Wow, didn't expect to see the founder in a comments section. Great to hear from you, and you essentially have me sold, Scott. It's only a matter of time.
Mime Slayer Haha well that's awesome to hear but this is the fun part so don't give me too much credit. It takes a ton of blood sweat and tears for any company to get a board out, let alone the rest of the stuff (videos etc), once its out there getting to talk with people who are into riding is the pay back. Keep in touch and let us know how we did if / when you end up getting your feet on one of these things. See you on the hill. _Scott
I'm 5'8" would the diamond drop 37 or 40 be better for me? I don't want my feet to be too cramped but idk if the foot platform on the 40 would be too big
I like to do a lot of free style tricks and it seems that it would be easier on the apex 34, or should I go with the apex 37? Having mixed feelings after watching this
I weigh 160 Pounds and I like the look of this board. I am just worried about if it might flex to much... I do a lot of freeride and downhill ranging from 30 to 50 mph. Would this board work for me? Just concerned about the flex. Thanks and you guys rock!
Tanner DeWoody stoked to hear it Tanner but it sounds like you are doing some serious fast freeride if you are pushing yourself in the 30 to 50mph range consistently. At 160lbs I'm not so much worried about the flex as I am about the width of the deck at higher speeds. The Apex really shines in the 20 to 35mph range, so even though there are a bunch of shots that fall in the 40 to 50mph section, that really isn't what we were going for on this deck. Have you checked out the Vecter 37?
Trucks are simple to mount, its not a drop-through so topmounting them like any other board will do the trick. There are a couple of different mounting brackets that let you select a wheelbase. Shorter wheelbases turn easier while longer wheelbases are more stable (and in some cases initiate easier). Its all about what you want to do with your deck.
May i ask if i am a beginner for skateboarding should i get the longboard or penny or normal skateboard ? I been watching your video and for them amazing (ps i am a 12year old girl )
Ehh originals i have a question i am new to freestile and consider to buy the apex but if i try to do these tricks the best tactic is to yolo try fall and maybe die or is there a less painfull way
Oh shit, this guy rips it! Backsidekick over stairs on a LG :O. Can't wait for sping to try that. Makes me want to try all the tricks that i was doing on my skateboard with my freeride one :D
Gotta get at it Serge! Heads up though not all freeride boards were designed to take a beating doing tricks like that. Heck even after building in a ton of carbon fiber reinforcement to the Apex we still had to develop the PK noseguards, that's when things really got dialed in. Have fun out there, skate a stair set for me!
Serge gagnon I think you will be fine : ) Remember that every board has it's own design goals, the thing people miss with the Apex is how focused we were on durability during freestyle riding. That's another way to say, be careful with that Rotule! Odds are good that it is more focused on freeriding and I hate to see a deck busted doing something it wasn't totally geared for. Stoked to hear you are supporting those guys though! Mad respect to Rotule on their shape design and execution!
Melvin van dijke Hey Melvin - just checking back with you. Did you end up ordering this setup? If not, we're here to make suggestions for you, and if you did order it, let us know what you think of your setup. Thanks for the support!
haha - still love this video and the one in NYC. It's just fun to visit different cities and people, but then also share the stoke from everyone on our social pages. Thanks for the support!
Ive had my apex dd 37 for a good few months and i have a wide variety of longboards/ skateboards and this is by FAR the best out of my collection and i have a few good boards :) HIGHLY RECOMMEND this board to anyone of all skill ranges :) :) :)
Thanks for saying so tendo! I think the Apex 37 DD is one my favorite boards for messing around on, and since I do a lot of messing around, probably one of the boards I ride the most. Thanks for the good word, and the support! #golongboard
hey original, if i were to buy this board, which size do you think would best fit me. i am approx. 5,7 still growing, and 130 pounds. do you think the 37 or 40 would best for a free-ride (getting into freestyle) rider? Thanks!
Rainn Drop You're on the border, where you could go with the Apex 37 or Apex 40, but since you're still growing, you're best bet is to go with the Apex 40. To give you an idea, I'm 5'7" and 115lbs. I comfortably ride the Apex 40 for freeride. Which size were you initially leaning towards getting?
miles gabelich maybe light downhill. It certainly has the stability aspects covered but for real DH stuff usually most serious riders are going to rock a wider board that is more specifically built for downhill first, as opposed to the Apex that is really built for freeride, sliding, and tricks first and foremost with enough DH to bomb a hill here or there.
The DiamondDrop is a killer option for sure, just make sure you are going to use the freestyle capacity. That's really where the technology in this board comes into play, and it's really where it shines. Sure you can ride it if you aren't going to be doing a ton of freestyle stuff, BUT if you aren't totally beating on this board with freestyle tricks you really won't need the carbon. In that case maybe even look at something like the Arbiter KT or even slant more downhill with the Vecter etc.
Longboards by Original Skateboards sweet i'm going to go check out those options then, most likely when i buy a longboard i'm going to do a little of everything.unlucky for me though the city that i live at is as flat as a pancake so i won't be bombing hills that often.
Ace Pilot Let's just say we've driven a car over it, and the board was still fine. That's what the quad axial fiberglass construction of the Apex is all about: thrashing your board, having a good time, and picking it up the next day to get some more. If you really want to add life and pop to it, pick up some PK Noseguards with the board. Hope that helps!
Can anyone suggest me a longboarding thats good for Carving, Sliding, Downhill and just for travelling? I know thats a lot to ask but if you know one thats good for that please reply ASAP! :D Ty
Los riders incribles, los trucos una pasada pero lo mejor los pantalones de Axel del minuto 1:43 al 1:47 unos Mambo Austarlia originales de finales de los 80'. Nos encanta que los uses.
Hey I have an apex 40 diamond drop and well let's say a few weeks ago my board got run over by a truck going 35 mph (over the speed limit btw). Only one of the hangers got bent so I got a new one. Overall amazing quality, the board is still fine....however two cracks emerged from that crash and I put wood glue but it's hard to stick the board back together. I tried doing Ollie's with it but I'm scared that the board will end up splitting. I feel like the cracks expanded from the Ollie's, it makes me sad cause it feels like I can't free ride or freestyle on this amazing board anymore :(
Yeah man, trucks are really the only thing that can go wrong with an Apex in a car impact. Shoot some photos and send them in to our customersupport@originalskateboards.com email address. We will take a look and see what we can do. A lot of times you may have cracks that dont have anything tod o with the overall stability of the construction (in which case an aesthetic fix would do the trick). If not odds are we can fix it. How long have you had the thing?
Well I've had it for almost 2 months and okay I'll send pictures to the customer support email address. I hope I can still do free ride in the end...lol
fell in love with this board watching this video... went to local skate shop to check it out in person, wtf is up with the price??? Makes Rayne boards look cheap. I could get the Rayne Rival and put trucks on it for the same money. Nice board but i think you're going to have a hard time selling these things to young lads who dont have help from their parents...
Hey dax, I feel you man. The thing you have to remember is that we make some of the best value decks around, you could easily get a full setup arbiter kt for the price of that rival + trucks. The only reason I bring it up is because there is a serious difference between all of the decks we just mentioned. Composite is expensive which is why the rival is more than the arbiter AND went the Apex is more than the Rival. More glass, more carbon, less cheaper bamboo.
There are a ton of dealers who stock our boards but it's all about where you are located. We do ship worldwide from our online store as well, but it's all about local support and your local shop whenever possible. Where are you located WC?
That is a tough quesiton, I guess the Vecter gives you a lot more breadth of options as far as freeride is concerned and the flush mounting is really a huge asset in terms of sliding if you ask me. I would only lean toward the DiamondDrop if you are doing more freestyle / tricks. In that case it really isnt any contest, but similarly, if you ARENT doing any sort of freestyle the Vecter is really the sweetspot.
Hey Jared, Right now the technology behind the noseguards gets incredibly expensive when the board gets thicker. I think thats why you dont see these sorts of guards used elsewhere (the Apex is super thin so its really easy / inexpensive to build guards for it). We are researching materials to try to bridge that gap but as of right now I don't have a definitive date as to how / when we will solve that problem and get guards out for the Freeride series.
picking one up to replace my freeride that ive been riding for 4 years now, you guys honestly make the best boards ive ridden. ive bought other decks, but i keep coming back to my freeride. you guys rock, please keep making phenomenal boards

Hey i was wondering how do you mount the trucks to the board because i am highly considering getting one, Great video.

Have fun out there, skate a stair set for me!
I'll try that, as soon as the snow melts. Hope my Rotule brainwash will handle it. If not guess i'll have to buy a DiamondDrop ;)

This is really good
the first thing im buying once i get a job :) along with the helmet of course, whatever happened to my old one hahah

That dude is a little crazy singing! lol
But this video was original and awesome! jeeje
fell in love with this board watching this video... went to local skate shop to check it out in person, wtf is up with the price??? Makes Rayne boards look cheap. I could get the Rayne Rival and put trucks on it for the same money. Nice board but i think you're going to have a hard time selling these things to young lads who dont have help from their parents...
Hey dax,
I feel you man.
What trucks are on the board with purple otangs? Anyone know?
The board looks sick as fuck... But the fact that Kishi Bashi is playing makes me want it ten times more.
Colin Shepherd hell yeah, actually I just missed a Kishi Bashi show local to us in NJ. Super pissed about that. Rad stuff.
Longboards by Original Skateboards No way, really?! He just came out with a new album not too long ago! It's fantastic!
Are these boards in skate shops, or you would have to buy them on your store
There are a ton of dealers who stock our boards but it's all about where you are located.
We do ship worldwide from our online store as well, but it's all about local support and your local shop whenever possible.
Where are you located WC?
Hey original. Whats the song. Its an awesome song to just cruise to.
why is cee lo green holding a tuba?
what is better for freeride, the diamond drop or the new vector 37?
That is a tough quesiton,
I guess the Vecter gives you a lot more breadth of options as far as freeride is concerned and the flush mounting is really a huge asset in terms of sliding if you ask me. I would only lean toward the DiamondDrop if you are doing more freestyle / tricks. In that case it really isnt any contest, but similarly, if you ARENT doing any sort of freestyle the Vecter is really the sweetspot.
thanks, im getting the vector
I want this board SO bad but it is a little expensive for me but i will see.
What are the trucks on the board?
The apex 40 dd at the beginning of the video is exactly the same setup as mine, that is weird...
Can you guys at original make those nose cones/protectors for the freeride 41/37
Hey Jared,
Right now the technology behind the noseguards gets incredibly expensive when the board gets thicker.
What trucks are good on this board because I have originals and I don't like them
