For a more accurate reading of the tip temperature with the thermometer, tin the tip and put a small dab of solder on it to assist with heat transfer to the thermocouple. Downside is the thermocouples won't last as long, but OTOH you'll have much more accurate readings. I know you were measuring the time for the tip to heat up, but pre tinning it beforehand would still help in that aspect. You just wouldn't have an already molten dab of solder on the tip.
Nice video thanks. I received my KSGER T12 station and like yours it comes up with ‘Error’ on the display. However my tips have not arrived yet but the iron and cable are plugged in. Is the error caused because I don’t have the soldering tip inserted? Thanks for your help.
Yes if no tip is inserted you will get the ERROR. This is related to the fact that the tip is basically what closes the circuit. the thermal sensor is also inside the tip...so without it the controller cannot establish what the temperature is and do its things to reach the set temperature and maintain it.
The version 3.1S in now out and I'm wondering if buying a new version instead of the (cheaper) old ones worth the extra money. Is there any change in performance? safety? Also note that the most safety problems are about the power supply which seems the same between the different versions.
I hadn't the chance to try out the 3.1s version... As far as I can see I has a more powerful spec and SEEMS to me a somehow simpler design but without having one in hand mine seems just pure speculation

This will not suit my unique application, unfortunately. Any tips on where I can locate one exactly the same as Ver 2.10/2.1s would be appreciated. KSGER on their official store at AliExpress do sell all the components separately and as kits. The latest controller module actually comes as buildable either way.. with wires to a plug/socket on the board, or as direct soldered. Hope this helps.

Have just got the 2.10 version of this iron from ksger's aliexpress shop. I've managed to figure out all the other menu stuff, but setting the tip type is proving difficult. I can tick and un-tick the tip types in the main menu option, but how do I actually select which one I'm using to get the correct PID profile?
Slightly rotate the knob clockwise while pressing it. You will enter the menu for the tip selection. If you do the same but counter-clockwise you will enter the menu for calibrating the temperature sensor.

Your 2.10/2.1s has the old (2018 model) "daughter board", the new model for 2.10/2.1s (2019 model) looks like the one on your 2.09. You can check it on the official store of KSGER. Also the new handle is better, those 2 are the old ones.
The Bo The Black/Blue that don’t have a screw to hold the tip. You just push the tip in place, pull to get it out. It’s lighter, the tip is closer to your hand and feels like a pen.

To be honest, just go for the best deal you can find. Even you are showed the internals in the listing that could be easily not what you are going to receive. Also I cannot perceive tangible differences in performances imho

The Bo - Please measure the rods used within (in mm). I paid for one of these 2 months ago (still waiting for it but it's supposedly only 23 days away) and have seen many offers/discounts/coupons for the rod/tip device used by these... But I was never able to order any of them because KSGER doesn't tell you what the included T12 units sizes are. It is arriving with a chisel tip, but I most often solder SMD devices like resistors so I need an extremely fine tip! I haven't been able to take advantage of any discounts of advantage because I cannot get an answer for the size of the rod/tips used by this. So long as the units I buy are standard 10k ohm units I have little to fear as changing a few wires is no problem at all.

Purtroppo l'accento è duro da nascondere. Non ho avuto la fortuna di provare delle Hakko o Weller genuine percui non ti so dire purtroppo.
