    im new to customs and i got a nk65. I was wondering is there a way to map a "fn" key as I use that mainly for the f1,f2,f3,etc

    • @GuestJimOCC

      The equivalent for Fn are the MO keys that momentarily activate a layer. The default keymap for the NK65 has the F1, F2, etc. keys on Layer 1 and MO(1) on the bottom row, second key to the right of the space bar. By pressing and holding that key then, the F1, F2 keys are active on the appropriate number keys, with F11 and F12 on -/_ and =/+, respectively.
      You can view the default keymap at the QMK Configurator or you can use the VIA software to see and edit what you currently have, assuming you have not flashed other firmware. Links to both are in this video's description.

      I would definitely reach out to NovelKeys about that. Both not being detected and only certain keys lighting up are significant issues. Have you tried with a different computer or USB cable?

    Via is for the newbies and doesn't contain some functions that has qmk configurator.

      Very true, but VIA has macros and convenience that a lot of people may need just to get started with custom keyboards. Personally, I used it as a start and worked with QMK first recreating the keymaps I set in there, then worked on other features that neither the configurator or VIA support.

      @@GuestJimOCC Pity that not show the flashing process cause it's a bit different. Maybe in this case I could find some help with flashing.

      @@urabus986 I have that in a different video: ua-cam.com/video/p3P2iJPeawQ/v-deo.html
      Was actually surprised by fast and easy flashing is in that video. By the way, thanks for reminding me about the video as I apparently forgot to set it to public (was unlisted).
      I made this and another video to support this article I wrote, covering flashing, QMK configurator, VIA, and working with the QMK source code: www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/cmk_qmk_via/

      @@GuestJimOCC I saw this article before the video. :) I thought you will be flash nk65.

      @@urabus986 Haven't tried flashing the NK65 for a couple reasons. One is just a lack of need to as everything I want out of it, VIA supports. The other, which is not a concern for me anymore, is that its firmware appears to be a little different from standard QMK, so I was a little concerned. (Special lighting effects and the three indicator LEDs are two such differences.) The 1up60hse PCB is more standard QMK, so that is what I chose to work with. After having spent more time with QMK and everything though, that concern has vanished, making it just the lack of need with the NK65.

    hey i would you know how to fix the ctrl alt and del pressed at the same time mines doesnt work

    • @GuestJimOCC
      @GuestJimOCC  3 роки тому +1

      Assuming the default keymap, Delete is on Layer 1 and the left Ctrl and Alt are volume controls for that layer. You will want to use the right Ctrl and Alt, unless you change the keymap.

    Can I make a nordic iso layout on via with the nk65 keyboard?

    • @GuestJimOCC
      @GuestJimOCC  4 роки тому

      I'm not sure. I quickly plugged the NK65 in and did not see any ISO keys in VIA, but that might be because the physical layout does not support an ISO layout. It might be possible to edit the firmware code to enable support for ISO, but there would still be the physical layout to deal with.
      Something that might be worth trying is experimenting with the QMK Configurator: config.qmk.fm/#/nk65/LAYOUT_65_ansi
      It only has the ANSI physical layout so you can see if there is a comfortable placement of ISO keys, as it does offer them. Still not sure how to get the keys in VIA, but at least you can experiment with keymaps, and then maybe flash the firmware from the configurator.

      Forget to mention, you might also want to try contacting NovelKeys to see if they can help, since they make the NK65: novelkeys.xyz/

    How TF do I disable the windows key. I keep searching all over and do not see any clear answer by default and I don't see any winlock or windisable option in via. It's the SINGLE thing I need and until then I'm literally just gonna have to rip that keycap off the board because windows key to me NEEDS TO FUCKING DIE

      Please refrain from the language in your comment.
      As far as the Windows key goes, you can remove it from the keymap altogether, putting something in its place, or create a layer without it that you can toggle on, when you want it removed.
