    With facility coding is room and board coded or is it included with the primary diagnosis or procedure? This is extremely helpful as I begin to self- study for the CCS exam.

      Hi Zane! Room and board are captured by central billing, by the Charge Description Master. There are plenty of charges that are 'hard coded' in an IP facility, room and board, drugs, ancillary services etc. We, coders, 'soft code' only so many things: procedures and some diagnostic stuff. This will depend on your facility. On the CCS exam instructions before the case studies will tell you what NOT to capture. Do you have the CCS prep book from AHIMA? You have instructions there as well in front of case studies telling you what NOT to code for with PCS codes. :)
