2 DAYS ALONE IN THE COLD. FROST, FIRE, FROZEN

- The trees are cracking. The cold is here and it's deep. The tent is a wonderful place to stay warm as the temperature drops. I spend time cutting trees and making a hanging roasted chicken in a barrel stove. I have a great sleep and then I make my way to another platform in the woods where I set up my RBM tent for the winter. There's also a brand-new stove that is absolutely awesome.

Jay great video. I would like to add a word of caution when doing beer can chicken. Beer cans and soft drink cans are lined with a plastic called Bisphenol A to prevent the liquid inside from corroding the aluminum, when heated this product breaks down and will enter the liquid that is in the can, then when the liquid vaporizes goes into the atmosphere. It is a known substance that can cause many health issues and from what I understand ( I may be wrong) remains in organs such as the prostate ,liver and kidneys where it can cause trouble. Also the outside of the can has a coating of plastic and/or a type epoxy lacquer or polymer. Again when heated these substance break down and go into the atmosphere. So if your chicken is surrounding the can those substances will go into the chicken that you consume, I would like to suggest obtaining a stainless steel cup or container that can be used to put the liquid into . These cups generally are not coated and can be used for a very long period of time and can take a serious amount of heat.
I forgot about that and thank you for reminding us.
i didnt know that about cans glad i watched Jays channel
He doesn't care, he is of the Elite. It's the normal folk that have to be concerned. Funny thing is the Chem Trail Spraying effect them as well. Where is this free Land you can just trade? Wake up People
yep ..just saw a video on the plastic lining soft drinks and beer cans be safe :)
The mini woodstove came with a foldable heat shield! So cool.
You are correct...Rabbit, particularly Snowshoe Hare are a very lean meat. Good protein but very low in fat. Can help keep you alive for awhile but not over the long haul. They are indeed pretty tasty.
Same thing can be said for white tail deer. A grey squirrel has virtually no nutritional value. Some bear meet every once in a while is what you need.
love getting answers to the question. Thanks so much. Jay
Very interesting. Jay
“I’m going to put some smoking chips just to give a bit of extra flavor”
{Pours the whole bag} 😂😂😂😂
What an awesome wintry video! As I sat in my warm den watching, I could actually feel the cold. I really enjoy living vicariously through your adventures.
I said almost the same thing lols "vicariously"
I love experiencing your cold winter days while living in warm Florida.
I love experiencing the cold winter days while I'm way up here in frozen land. Ha. Thanks for commenting Bill. I hope all is well in Florida. Jay
Great video Jay. That’s a great idea. Set out some snares and let’s get a rabbit cooking on the show. Pretty tasty!
The UA-cam Channels that I was used to watching on Saturdays were constant as the Northern Star up until a month ago for one and last Saturday and it dropped to every 2 weeks.I found your channel at the last minute before bed time and I'm glad I stayed up as I tend to watch back vids on Saturday so thank you for entertaining us.
I love this comment. Thanks so much
@@jaylegere your welcome brother.
Was it the Outdoor Boys for you too?
"The whole tree in one hand" I actually cheered out loud for ya.. "3 left, Go Jay, you got this". Good thing I live alone lols
Love your videos!
Hahaha. Awesome comment. Thanks JassiJo.
Rabbit is delicious!
Recipe..
Brown rabbit in butter.
In a crockpot put stewed and fire roasted tomatoes, 1 onion and sliced fresh mushrooms.
Cook on low 7-8 hours.
Serve over rice.
Enjoy!!
Yum but….try over wild rice.

I'm here for your snow needs!
Awesome video Jay !! Always fun to spend time with you and enjoy a nice cup of coffee by my fire, almost feels like I'm right there with you enjoying one of those meals you made 😊. As always , very entertaining and lots of fun to watch. Already excited to see the next video 👍
Glad you enjoyed it. I am really taking it in this season. Truly beautiful out there.
I feel so cozy watching your cold adventures. The colder the better, and your cooking just adds to it, the fact you put so much effort into to it, i love it.
Beautiful winter wonder land. So peaceful
It really is a beautiful place. Thanks for commenting. Jay
Another great video jay. Your way of capturing the sounds and camera angles is just amazing.
Hi Jay from Melbourne Australia. 7:30pm and 27 degrees C. Such a contrast😊. Superb drone shots at the start. Looking forward to watching this.
Outstanding video Jay! Reminds me of my time as a Scout Master (20years). My boys loved to go “winter camping” which we did several weekends during the season. Love your style!!!
Not familiar with how to contact you, but will find out! Love your videos!!!
I always enjoy your tent videos! I prefer the long videos vs the shorter. Keep making great vids, stay safe, and hope everyone has great holiday!
I do enjoy making longer vids. So I'm glad you enjoy them too. Jay
Just discovered your channel, Jay, and I can say I’m a huge fan down in Colorado! Oh, and like the long vids, as well - it’s like a Jay Movie - lol! I’ve got a lot of catching up to do and want to compliment your videography-especially the drone stuff! What are you flying?
Jay, you are indeed fortunate to breathe that air, in the quiet, with all that beauty.
Yet another solid video. I see this being your FT job in the very near future. You're very good at your crafts.
Awesome video jay love to see a snaring episode! Keep the videos rolling !! Thanks for sharing
Hurray for antiques shopping 😊 yay for the lit ornaments too, they are cute! You have such beautiful weather, it's snowing here :/ what the earthly deal is it with that.😊
Enjoyed the video Jay you always have such great food.I love how the trees are coated in ice & snow such a beautiful place. 🙂🇨🇦👍👍👍👍👍
You really know how to deliver Jay. Two day adventure. Yes rabbit is very tasty. Two tents way to go Jay . I thought you might set up that tent you were in the right spot.
I am in Phoenix, Az I am sitting here and it's going to be 79 degrees here in 2 days Dec 17 th 2023 but.... I love that tent ...I hate the cold but love watching you enjoy it lol
Jay, I had to laugh towards the beginning of the video trying to use a striker then switched to using a match. I was like Jay don't give up in 10 seconds. LOL I'm sure you did it longer, but we just get the 10 second version. Love the videos, thanks for sharing them with us.
Thanks Jay. You have come a long way!
Great video Jay love watching your videos love wintertime and the view of the trees what a picture perfect winter Wonderland amazing ❤
I enjoy your videos. I like when you say how warm it is inside, as well as outside.
This vid had all my favorite things about your channel. Your tent cabin and your UP2. If I were a younger girl I’d own all those RBM products. I was in love with the first Caminus stove but the new and improved is a wonder to behold!
Awesome! Thank you!
Oh, My Goodness Jay!!! What a Great video!!! I absolutely loved it!!! Hands down one of your Best videos! The photography was great, the drone footage was incredible, and and the content was Super Awesome!!! You are Crazy by the way!!! LOL!!! But I am thankful that you are because I enjoy watching you Thrive in conditions that most people would Never be in!!! It's 10° C here in Arizona and I am cold!!! That chicken made my mouth water, and the tent, and the stove at the end, made me want to want buy the exact same thing!!! So Cool!!! More content like this, Crazy Jay!!! 🤣
Great video, Jay!!!! Loved the variety!!! That hoar frost was amazing!!! Reminds me of growin up in northern Minnesota riding my 72 Yamaha through the woods!!! Sweet new stove!! That chicken looked mighty tasty!!! Looking forward to the next one!!!
Bridge
I think I saw Jay's beard actually re-grow a bit when he unpacked that new stove. 😁
hahah. I felt it happen.
Jay your videos never disappoint. Keep'em coming.
Heyy Jay, your aerial footage is amazing love the snow covered trees, I have had rabbit before it's good, dinner looks delicious, thanks for another awesome video stay safe and warm
Hi great video! To answer your question, yes you can die from just eating rabbit from protein poisoning. Protein poisoning is when the body takes in too much protein without enough fat or carbohydrates (which can happen by consuming any lean meat). The term “rabbit starvation” or “mal de caribou” were derived from the description of consuming too much lean meat without a sufficient amount of fat or carbohydrates.
great weekend bud. nice to see it all happy of the other side of the country
Just wish it was 30° colder
Another stove for your collection!
Looks like you have some new cooking gear too
It always looks cozy when it’s bedtime
Nice cooking as always
Until the next video..stay warm 🇨🇦❤️
Awesome video, as always Jay. Just a tip with the beer can chicken that I find helpful... Punch holes around the outside of the can to help steam escape out the side walls of the can. It will spread the beer flavour better throughout the chicken. I haven't used one of those steamer things you're using, but when the can is directly in the butt of the chicken it makes a world of difference. Otherwise, all the beer steam goes out the top and through the neck of the chicken. Also, a nice wheat beer is great for beer can chicken :D
Excellent tips. Might give it a try again. Used to make beer can chicken all the time, but it always just tasted like...well...roasted chicken.
Awesome beer can tips. This was the first time I ever tried this, so the information is definitely welcome.
Jay
@@jaylegere Any time! I've also found that drinking all but maybe 2-3cm from the bottom helps too. That way it can boil quicker and steam for longer in there. too much beer left in the can and it just gets hot but doesn't boil enough by the time the bird is done. The earlier the beer boils, the better.
The pride of Nova Scotia for the beer can chicken was a nice touch man. Always enjoy your content ! Cheers from NS buddy keep ‘em comin !
Can’t wait to see progress on your new cabin as well. Always enjoy your videos.
Thanks Myhandle306. I am hoping the lakes will be safe enough for me to head out there very soon. Jay
Love all your videos, Jay! I live in Central Florida USA and don't get the snow. Keep the great videos coming.
Happy Holidays my ladies 🎄🎄see you next year🥂
Another great video! I’m going to use that garlic in the beer tip the next time that I do beer can chicken on the bbq! Thanks for the beautiful winter scenes! In eastern Ontario we’re just getting started with the snow although I have been out on the ski doo a few times already! Take care and see you next time! T!
Here's wishing you a wonderful snowy winter in Ontario! Jay
Thanks Jay! Love watching you my friend 👍
Thanks so much KitJBenn!
Hello Jay that video in winter time and all the beautiful snow and beautiful place to be what a beautiful sight to see that why I like to watch your videos you put out you always go to your beautiful places out of nowhere I think that awesome this is Dave from Massachusetts I fully support you thank you for all the great videos you put out I miss you my friend I waiting for another video I was to see you my brother Jay
Best beers in Canada came from the East Coast, until Quebec and Ontario caught up to them a little !!! While in Halifax my 'go to' was K.I.P.A. except when I wanted a slightly stronger beer. Then it was Ten Penny ale from Moosehead Brewing.
Great Video ! THANKS. Nice tent and stove too. Alan 🇨🇱
Thank you for a beautiful video Jay. Stay safe. Cheers from Denmark.
Hi Jay love your Camp site the scenery is beautiful and Awesome like the stove out side it’s cool
Great video Jay. Beer Can Chicken looked good so did the Klick sandwich. The new RBM stove looked great. Nice if they would add shelves on either side. Thanks!
I agree. Shelves would make that stove a real winner. That said, the new design is very smart. Klik sandwich was a 10.
Yes!!! Cup of tea and enjoy!!👍🏻
Cracking Cold 🥶 and Thick Snow, ❄ but it sure is pretty..❤. A Winter Wonderland ☃️ for you ❤
That new stove`s packing box is pretty cool!
I love that tent and also the stove. Everything looks so cozy. Very nice.
It was certainly a really cozy adventure. Already looking forward to getting back out there. Jay
thx for the awesome vid jay❤
Hi Jay l Love Your Camp hear the tree with frost and trees moving it s a Site to see ❤❤❤😊😊
Hi Jay did you know by cleaning the forests ground floor you are making better all the did fall of trees cleaning it stops a lot of fires from going out controlled 😊
Hey Jay. For a minute, I thought you were going to make a "dancing chicken" puppet segment. Interesting! It's always great to see your videos. Thanks so much.😊
Keep taking those deep breaths brother!
Another great vid Jay, I could almost taste the klik sandwich 👍🏼😃
No center pole? Would love to see some small game harvested and prepared with some veggies of some kind along with some potatoes. Great tent and like the new wood stove.
Dear J, enjoying your beautiful videos is not something new to me, however in all my years of outdoor cooking I have never seen a chicken being roasted this way. Not only was it a very big surprise, but you could say I was truly astounded... A beer can with added garlic, inside the chicken??? I really need to try that!!!
Jay, really enjoyed it..Look forward to more...
I am jealous of you Jay. I'm down here in Ontario waiting for it to get cold enough for me to wear my new SKOOKUMbrand Yukon Anorak. Seeing yours last winter I placed an order for one. I have it but haven't worn it yet because it is too mild. Wonderful product. Couldn't be happier with the purchase. Send me some of that cold weather you are experiencing for a Christmas gift! Until next time, take care.😄
loved the video -- can't wait to get back to my camp after Christmas for 4 days.
Nothing beats camp!
The double camping trip was unexpected! It was fun to see you go to two different tents in the same video. That stove with the little trees was cute. Oh, and that chicken looked amazing. I'm a little bummed that nobody's been able to answer your question about surviving on rabbit yet, but it was fun watching a couple of people squawk about it. Lol They didn't cry about you eating chicken, but oh, the poor bunnies! Lol
For real
Jay, just found your channel and super jealous of your exploits. I will be watching from now on and subscribed. You are living my dream, so I hope to follow your lead one day brother. Cheers from central Alberta!
Great video. Just beautiful up there. I don't know how you do it though. I woke up this morning it was 40F in Florida and I had to turn on the fireplace. I admit, I'm a wimp.
Loved this ❤ and your new stove is a thing of beauty
Great to spend some time with you again, Jay. That chicken? Wow! And I loved watching you manoeuvring those 2 large slices of Klik (with cheese haha) into that small roll. Looked v tasty, man. As ever, all the best from the UK
I'll be honest, the klik sandwich was better than the chicken. I devoured it.
Have to say that there was definitely an animal glint in your eye as you took the first bite haha!@@jaylegere
Best custom Beer Butt Chicken roasting rack I've ever seen! Well, the only one. But still the best!
That double klik-burger with cheese looked really good. Ever put any Montreal seasoning on those? The beer-can chicken had my mouth watering too. You're living large out there in the wild. Only a matter of time until the squeaky snow arrives.
The opening scene of this video is so beautiful that I almost cried 😢❤
I had an off grid cabin with no running water and only heat was from a wood stove. The first rule was never leave the cabin with out a two day supply of firewood
As always Jay Awesome video I've never had beer can chicken but i hear its very good
Another great video Jay! Hopefully your cabin is winter accessible so you’ll be able to make frozen content there as well!
That's the plan. I am hoping to be there within a couple weeks. The lakes are pretty big out towards my cabin so they need more time to freeze properly. Can't wait to go back there and check it out. Jay
Sunday? Somebody forgot about church!
Also, great videos. There is definitely a call of the wilderness.
This longer video was worth the wait. Thank you.
Thanks Cindi. I love getting this type of feedback. I enjoy making longer vids, so I am sure there will be plenty more to come. Jay
Love your videos and enjoy watching them. May the lord bless and protect you Jay in the tent camping
Thanks so much. I really hope you have a wonderful week, Brenda. Jay
You are right about "rabbit starvation". Rabbits provide protein but not enough fat, and several vitamins -- specifically A, D, E, and K -- require fat for their storage and utilization by the body.
Although taste is subjective, I would like to point out that rabbit is a delicacy enjoyed commonly in much of the non-NorthAmerican world, especially Europe. It is a white meat much like chicken but has its own taste, much as turkey does, or pheasant. It is truly delicious when prepared properly. I encourage others to try it -- it is sometimes available in larger grocery stores.
Thanks for taking the time to answer that question. Very good information to have. Jay
Great to see you spend a whole weekend out in the woods. What happened to the chick? Like to see you both out enjoying the wilderness.
One of the best episodes. Keep it up.
Fantastic video Jay! I believe you are correct about eating rabbit because they have almost no fat and lack nutrients we need. You're so lucky to have such a beautiful place to escape reality. As always I look forward to the next video. Cheers
Like the cookware set in the end of the video.
Hey Jay another great video. Stay safe and keep warm.
Thanks Linda. Jay
I don't know how you stand the freezering weather, like your video 👏 keep warm ❄️🐰🐰
Hi Jay, i really like channel. I have a tough time in my head at the moment. And when i listen to your video, it's doing me good. All my touts go away for a moment.
My dad taught me the easiest critter to have to live off of if you get hung up in the woods, is a Porcupine. Easy to catch. Why he said never take one for "fun".
those opening shots through the trees 🤩
Awesome all around Jay 🎉
15 F is a warm day! Great vid!
Awesome video man! Greetings from a Canadian in Germany!👍🍻
Another great video Jay! Beautiful drone shots at the beginning. I really like watching the sled moving on the trails. RBM has the best tents and stoves. Best Regards and Merry Christmas to you, Crystal, and your family.
Hey! Merry Christmas to you too!
Great video again Jay. While watching I was dreaming I was in a place just like that. I haven't been out in a tent in winter for a very long time. BTW, I love seeing the Labrador flag plate. Take care.
Great video. Love those beer can chickens, I haven't had the luxury of having a platform to set up my tent because it would probably be told to move here in NL , would definitely like to do it. Would also like insulated floor too. That stove looked great right out of the box, curious how I'd find with the chimney on the front like that and having to reach around to put the kettle or pots and oans on the stove guess its just something to get use to. Have to agree I don't have it often but I think i prefer Klic too.
Hey Tuckerandi. The chimney design doesn't bother me. I leads to a really smooth burn with even heat. It would be awesome if everyone could have their own platform in the woods. Would be peace on Earth, I imagine.
Good even burn with good even heat definitely make thing great 👍
Just subscribed. Jay I don't know what it is, but I can't stop watching this channel lol
I'm not a fan of extreme cold temperatures, but there's something about your channel I can't stop watching. Maybe it's the survivalist part of it. Maybe it's the Northern Lights, or food being cooked and knowing how good all of that smells. Those poor animals in the woods are salivating from the cooked food smell LOL.
I think a lot of guys can understand this channel and The Great outdoors and the procedures needed to get ahead of to heat your tent and to do the chores needed to be done and to make sure that the supplies needed are there, then to relax with food in between.
****I HAVE A SUGGESTION FOR YOU...... Crockpot chicken soup. If you make that at home, it freezes well in tupperware in the freezer and you can take that up there to the hot tent or the cabin. You can make noodles ahead of time or rice at home and keep that in the refrigerator and just bring it up there if you want. That weather is perfect for chicken soup OR a nice chowder.
Keep on making the videos. UA-cam through you in my mix and that's how I came across you. Keep up the good work brother.
Def. a good channel to binge watch.!!!
Hey c.e.p.1666. Thanks for subbing and supporting the channel. And thanks for this comment. I do love a good crockpot meal. I might even bring a crockpot to the cabin for those long cold winter days. Jay
@@jaylegere Thank YOU. Pretty awesome you resonded. Ha! So cool. Keep on making those videos. Love em'. I live on Long Island, NY. The closest I got to being up north on a snowmobile was in Lake George, NY. Back in the day LOL. Good times. Now I live vicariously through you my friend and your channel. May the sun shine on your face and the wind be at your back. Safe travels.
