I get stares when I get out of my car because I have handicapped plates but am not in a wheelchair. If people knew what I've been through, they would tremble in fear. Brain surgeries as a child. Liver transplant, cancer, 2 strokes as a 39 year old in 2018. Those are the cliff notes. I'm 42, but look 25. People always assume. When I see people in wheelchairs, walkers, canes, I always get the door, and tell them to keep on, I know some of their struggle. Tom's song cancer hit me very hard.
This song embodies why I like Tom and his music. The world is dividing us saying we're all different and that somehow pigments make us different. Here comes Tom out of the gate saying na, we're all the same and we all have the problems and obstacles in our lives to overcome. He's pushes a positive message in this negative ass world.

The point about the phones is so key. My parents always told me “just because someone looks happy in person you don’t know really know goes on behind closed doors.” I love that. Sure I could be happy to see you but when I get home I might be upset or sad and just hiding my feelings. We all need to talk and listen to each other, may have differences in opinions and that’s perfectly fine. I always tell those that are struggling “sometimes all someone needs a friend just to say hi to them or someone to listen to them, it could change their world.”
