    Thanks for the great video. I can’t believe the retailer and manufacturer don’t have better photos or cosmetic examples of what this stuff actually looks like.

      I absolutely agree I’ve been dealing with composite envisions for a few weeks now and they are pretty much unwilling to provide any type of customer service the attitude from their sales manager is take it or leave it

    In my daily life I have no need for carbon fibre but thanks to your channel I seem to be developing an expansive knowledge. :P

    Good video. Could you please make a video showing the reflective carbon fibers in detail? it would be very interesting

    Could you possibly do a video on what happens if you add mica powder to the resin?

      It will be a while but I'll add it to the video to do list.

    if that coating is making CF look flat, maybe metallic powder or some pigment in resin could add color and preserve that 3D effect. But making such thing looking evenly over surface would be almost impossible, even with glitters. I saw car with dark blue base color and light reflections was purple. But most cars have thick coating. So maybe it is possible to have transparent coating with that effect when light is reflected in blunt angle.

      Thicker coating maybe or less compression, or if they wove it from a thicker tow I think that might look neat.

      @@LindyDesignLab I think it is nice try with just CF, but I found combined carbon and aramid much nicer option. Aramid can hold vibrant color and carbon is not suppressed by coating.

    Thank you very much for the informative video, two questions:
    1. I thought its impossible to colour the carbonfiber… how did they colour it?
    2. Can anyone tell me how to forge carbon without having a “Pinholes”?

    • @LindyDesignLab
      @LindyDesignLab  2 роки тому +1

      Not sure the exact process, but the carbon is coated with the color after the fabric is woven. More like a paint rather than a dye.

      @@LindyDesignLab i was thinking of the same but you know what this brings to my mind? First of all if its paint why not offering wider range of colours...?
      Second why not to die the strands before weaving so it wont be like what you showed in video where you take it strand out and its not coloured....?
      By the way, how many years experience you have in making carbon plates?

      Not yet that I have found other than of course Kevlar. I saw someone did a candy coat yellow over silver aluminized fiberglass, that was cool, but nothing carbon.
