  • Alright alright , settle down boys and girls of the internet. Here’s the video you’ve been asking for on my “little” LTD coupe. This was a Georgia native car and came with a package deal including a 69 F100. However the truck was sold real fast, but the Ltd just wasn’t ready to leave us and the more I looked at it the more I knew it needed some attention from me first. So here she is before anything begins. It’s a one owner car, the miles are accurate and boy does it run smooth-ish. Haha. Anyway, hope this tides you over for a bit until the work begins on it. Who knows maybe we can whip her back into shape and find her a nice loving home to go to. Thanks for watching !

Man I could never work at a scrap yard...I'd bring everything home with me! Its always so cool to see all these old cars coming through your yard. Just boggles my mind what some people throw away.

This brings back memories! Dad had a '76 two door LTD in silver with blue cloth interior. It did not have the hide-away headlamps, and I think it had a landau roof, can't remember though. I remember the doors being so huge. It's demise was in the summer of '81 when my father and I went on a road trip to Dayton, OH to the air museum. Ford had the brilliant idea if running the fuel line over the distributor and it caught fire. We rented a Toyota Corolla for the drive home.

I love these old LTDs! I remember riding inside many of these as a child. I would repair that fender and give it a fresh paint job with a new top , put some new shoes on her and ride out! 👌🏾

Definitely one to fix and keep! Built back when Ford wasn't afraid to build cars, like they are today. El Tee Dee for life! 🚢!

I grew up living with my widowed grandmother. Her 'boyfriend,' had '77 LTD, cream yellow with a tan roof. I liked the new car smell while it lasted. I didn't consider it to be anything special...as it was very plain...power steering & brakes, A/C, AM/FM radio, front bench seat and that was it. Looking back now, I remember it as a quiet, stable highway cruiser, really comfortable. It's hard to find anything half so comfortable nowadays. Modern cars, unless you buy a SUV, make you feel you're sitting in a teacup.

I love those old cars. They rode like your sitting on your living room couch, had good cold AC and you could steer it with your pinkie finger if you wanted to. I would take that one right now as she sits, minus the wasps, you could keep them..LOL

I had a 1971 LTD coupe with the last year 390 2V V-8 and its air was still working untouched at 20 years old and it was a very strong runner. My brother pulled his 26ft Cabin Cruiser about 8k lbs. no problem with it!

We had one of those brand new in '77. Had the 351w I believe. Ours was gold colored with the vinyl top but it didn't have the headlight covers. Back when I lived in Tennessee I used to get stung by those red wasps so often and got so used to it that eventually i just slapped them like mosquitos to kill 'em. They'd only raise a welt about the size of a mosquito bite and it'd be gone in a few hours. I finally set off bug bombs in the attic of that old house I lived in and that took care of the majority of 'em. I miss the "boulevard rdie" of those old land yachts. You could drive big cars all day long and feel just fine at the end of the day. Modern cars with their stiff suspensions will make ya feel like you've been beaten by the end of a day of driving.

I had a 77 Ford LTD Landau. Mine was a 4dr. Very quiet very smooth..but a gas hog. Maybe 10mpg downhill with the wind. Maybe 13-15 on the freeway. I bought it in '87. My LTD was very nice. It was yellow with a matching interior. Thanks for posting.

The Landau model was the top of the line LTD in 1977. I remember seeing one on the Showroom floor in the summer of 1977. The interior I remember being nicer as well as the woodgrain accents. These look more like the LTD Brougham, but it does say Landau. There must have been an upgrade for the interior. Also the hubcaps are pretty basic for a Landau. I usually saw them wearing fancy albums dish wheels with a center cap. It does look better without the rear fender skirts that most of the Landaus had. Suprised that Ford didn't upgrade the dome light for the top line cars. I guess the dome light with the dual map lights was still part of the light group or I think Ford called it Visability Group. Definitely worth saving and I love dove gray. So the car would be stunning with new paint.

Nice looking LTD. My parents had a 78 ltd station wagon same color. They got it brand new in 78 when I was born. Theirs had a 351. Wish theirs had AC was a hot ride going from Michigan to Maine every summer. About the only option it had was cruise control. They pulled a 28 foot camper with it. Try finding a car today that can do that. They traded it in for a brand new 85 fox body LTD. The station wagon had 78,000 miles on it when they traded it in.

I’ve enjoyed a few of your videos now. But after you called the wasps “friends”, I had to subscribe. I’m not afraid of anything except for whatever odd reason, spiders. I refer to them as “friends” as well. 😹😹. Beautiful LTD. wow. Reminds me of the powder blue 1977 Mercury Cougar station wagon that my mom bought in 1987. She and the car are no longer with us. But these leftover jems bring back good memories. Wish I’d been old enough then to have known to hold onto that cougar wagon.

I noticed one of the flip up headlight flaps is up even with the engine off and lights off.. that usually indicates a bad vacuum actuator. Under normal operation I believe the pump releases vac pressure on the line to allow the doors to raise up. When the lights are off the vacuum is increased closing the doors. And it should hold that pressure for a long while after shutdown. But if there is a leak you can actually turn the lights on then off quickly and the broken actuator will actually make the light look like it’s winking..
