this is so crazy...i was standing on the stage during silverchairs performance at this show as well...like right next to you! so glad i found this vid...bringing back so many memories! glad you got this recorded in the days before smartphones!!!! cheers! x
LOL Yes, there was a group of us there. Anthony Kiedis was standing there as well. haha I filmed this, but obviously someone got hold of the board audio years later, as my audio was pretty terrible on my Sony camcorder from that location!!
Ugh… the amount of money I would pay to go back in time and experience a Silverchair show!!! I wasn’t even born in 99 lol. Music like that doesn’t exist nowadays 😢 if you ever saw them during their Neon Ballroom tour in 99, consider yourself extremely lucky 🙌🏻
Yep, and I'm 57. I liked this when I was 28 (back in their heyday), as I would have loved the sound when I was at high school age. It's such a release of angst.
I seen them in Minneapolis of 99' the day there record released on March 16th But this maybe the the landmark show of silverchair. Unreal. Wicked guitar projector, drums n muff of the bass on point. N if course, world classic vocals from DJ
This is unreal to me. I have never seen a live video from this era. I assumed, after the release of neon ballroom, they had abandoned all their older material. I’ve never knew a concert featuring both “slave” and “emotion sickness” even existed. Its crazy to see Daniel’s voice singing old songs with his new more soulful tone.
I had intended to, but BigPond Music lodged a copyright claim about vids that were uploaded more than 2 years ago. So pretty much all my upload rights have been stripped. Typical of Telstra though really!
I think they're a great band. Great musicians. Definantly have a cemistry, like all good bands. I think Daniel is a great songwriter. Incredible the way he puts cords together. I find Emotion Sickness difficult to play. I'm still working on it. I like to learn other people's songs for the fun of it. I'm also having fun working on Sails of Charon by the Scorpions. Thats an incredible song, radio should play it.
Jerónimo Zapatería that’s just one of his Soldano Hot Rod 100s for distortion. He just A/B between the two heads for clean and dirty sounds. I reckon he had something in front of his dirty channel though to add to the Soldano sound. Soldanos have that amazing dark heavy distortion though naturally.
It’s pretty well known Daniel used soldano slo100 heads and essentially NOTHING else aside from a whammy and a few other things but those came at later dates. This is what a cranked soldano sounds like
@@MrTylero28 nope, not true at all and not slo, they're soldano hot rod 100's with 2 x marshall 1960 av on the top stack and 2x marshall 1960 bv cabs on the bottom. he also used a ZVex Fuzz Factory, boss ge-7. oc-2, dd-6 and a rocktron tsunami chorus during this era.
i know this is a bit of an old comment, but i'm pretty sure he used two Soldano SLO 100 amps, one for a clean and one for his distorted tone (so his distorted sound is just him straight into the amp), Although for his more fuzz-like solos or other REALLY overdriven parts, he had a ZVex Fuzz Factory that he stacked on top of the amp's overdrive. Hope this helped 🤘

AMAZING Singing , some of those songs are fckn hard as fck , but on Tomorrow he is very off , which is weird cause he nailed much harder songs. STILL I LOVE IT
This was one of a small handful of times they played that song live, it had been out of their live sets for years and they played it a couple times in the US only just because it was the only song anyone there actually knew (most played song on US rock radio of 95 surprisingly)
Don’t know who recorded the video but the audio is from the live radio broadcast of the show. It was part of a day-long outdoor music festival sponsored by WBCN Radio.
I realize the neon ballroom songs need keyboard but the keyboard is absolutely obnoxious during the door. And the crowd totally missed their cue to sing in Freak.
Is it me or anyone else pick up the song by Mad Season I Don't Know Anything, in the intro? Not that IGAF because these 3 geniuses always stayed true to their earliest following without even a minuscule of hint of compromise to who they were. Self Discipline and maturity like theirs kept them from falling into the throws of a drug addicted centered industry. Daniel definitely was a soul everyone who truly appreciated his gift, didn't care how Daniel Johns behaved. He was Daniel Johns man. Meek one minute, next minute he's giving a big FU to the dick heads and we know who they were. 👍💯
New Years Day. Trying to relax my brain after the heeavy party yesterday, listening to some of my favourites. And the keyboard part on Anna's song (and a little bit on "The Door", too) killed me today more than my next "healing" beer. I know, it's always been there but today it's especially hard to stand it. Not the guitar distortion, not the crowd screaming, but this f******g keyboard. Soooooo annnoying. Why did they put it in the song - I'm never gonna understand it. (I guess, it was all Paul's fault (???) --> we need to talk, man, seriously, you destroyed my New Year's Day). BTW, many thx for uploading the vid, I'll be coming back to that gig. Definitely, many times. Nice piece of rock music. But the audience...WTF? Do they know whose gig they come to? They don't know the songs at all. They just scream from time to time. Poor litlle things...;)
@@gasarockband I perfectly know he always sang live but listen those two seconds again, why is he still sounding when very VERY far away from micro 👀
I shot this video, but someone must have added/dubbed the board audio years later. My audio quality wasn't great on the little camcorder I was using at the time.
At this point I was still on Cloud 9, absolutely unprepared for the twinklefunk glitter fairy Daniel was about to mutate into on their 5th, inexplicable abomination of an album. I am glad they mercifully broke up before he could disgrace this band's once super promising legacy any further. The soul crushing death of his talent on YOUNG MODERN (and beyond) is one of the greatest tragedies (and complete talent suicides) in the rock music world.
And if you want to hear a completely different band every album then go find another "all new" band rather than condone the self-sacrifice of a once-great, distinct band.
daniel wasnt the best crowd entertainer between songs though he said some awkard stuff and didnt have a huge crowd reaction but he redeemed himself each tike he went back to singing lol
