Great job, you are showing so many aspects of driving that people don't think about, like driving time, backing into slots, helping others, how you have to bobtail to get empties, to lot lizards. As a female driver I experienced both discrimination and super nice male drivers. Fond memories, but glad to be retired now.
Much appreciation for you truck drivers. I actually work for Walmart myself and you truckers are vital for our day to day operations. Enjoyed the video.
@Bat GS Thanks! You truckers do so much for us every day and we can’t really go about our lives without you. For me at Walmart, the trucks are vital to keeping our customers happy and keeping the sales rolling. For us associates, it also keeps us busy and we appreciate that very much.
@@baelevatorsmore728 Thx again. We appreciate U helping us..help U. That should B what life is about. Unfortunately many think not. Truck driver here, as long as the gun is in the truck you can travel with it statewide without a license while also being properly stored, only exception is places like military bases and even if you have a license to carry it still applies for bases. It's when you take it out with you when it becomes a different story but yeah no one's telling me I can't carry with BLM about ready to go nuts because I drive a cotton truck and it's red so I'm a huge Target and I ain't going down as a helpless victim.
I do have to say, that is a really nice Freightliner, it's nice to see a Swift driver that can not only drive forward but can back a trailer up. Started out in a warehouse and running a yard goat and started driving. Great video and be safe
I like that you keep a clean truck, Not like other drivers that keep their truck like a trash truck. I always kept my tractors clean ! That shows how you live at home to me !

Thanks for sharing. I was reminded of going with my Dad in the summer months when he drove for a wholesale lumber yard out of LIncoln, Nebraska. He would have got a chuckle out of the struggles the newby driver had getting into his slot. Blessings to you sir, and as I tell my grandchildren - Keep the shiny side up, and the greasy side down. Take care. I'll catch you on a future video.
Back in the day the Lizards were all over the place. They were mostly drug-heads high on who-knows-what. The kind you would not touch with a rubber glove on the end of a 10 foot pole.
Wow, the first thing I would own is a CB radio. I enjoyed not only listening and talking to other drivers but it is a very useful tool. Other drivers will inform others of the road conditions up ahead or even an accident that has the interstate shutdown, so you can find another route or find a spot to park and wait for the road conditions to change for the better. Take full advantage of the CB radio, it pays for it self.
Always lower your landing gear first. It's just a good habit to get in to doing. It may save you in the future. I like your patience as well. A must have in trucking to make it enjoyable.
I like how you show all the aspects of driving these trucks. I sure miss it, and I am going back to it soon. This is how I started out in life, at 15 years old. That was in the late 70s for me.....

After retiring from 30 years of driving big rigs, I've seen many, MANY drivers who don't have a CLUE how to drive safely. At least 80% had SWIFT on the side of their trucks.
Everybody says it's so! So I believe them. Ha. I used to work for Lanter Cold Storage, loading trucks inside the caves in KC KS. I'm pretty sure we loaded Swift trucks w/ meat - but that was in the 1980's, so my memory may be wrong.

drove for 15 years and it always amazed me how many drivers thought it was horrible that I wore shorts. 24/7 365 in shorts even til today. very comfortable. put insulated coveralls on when I was out west in the winter to fuel and other stuff.
As someone who loads trucks daily, I sit there at the door and watch or should try to watch trucks back up, and I'd say like 80% of them can't back a trailer up in the wide open parking lot we have 🤦♂️

From 35 years of trucking experience to avoid the working girl’s wad up a paper towel with a little water and put it on the top of the left steer tire and they’ll think you’ve already been serviced.
I have been driving for 17 years always wear shorts and tennis shoes. I drive for a living and didn't know shorts and tennis shoes make it to where you can't drive. It's trucking not runway modeling. Just be comfortable and keep the rubber side down nice backing
I made two drop & hook stop's on the way to Campbell soup I carried their loads from coast to coast for two years before I retired. Two days home every six months was too much.
As a truck driver all company drivers are not allowed to carry, if they're caught their automatically fired that's just their company policies. But owner operators are allowed to do whatever they want to do
I use to be a hostler at a train yard. The key is to count 4 trailers on the left, turn sharp right then position to back up. It will line you right up every time to the hole. Damn I was good back in the day. Thousands of trailers and cans parked and only one minor accident, but not while backing.
Real truckdrivers don't comment on another guys dress attire either!!!! What is truck driving turning into a fashion show? Who cares if you're in short & tennis shoes? Whutt?

@@bennydrives Thanks for the reply, it would be interested to know for of the mechanical side of how a truck works as well. Example: show how the hitch system works, explain how the breaking system is pressurized without breaking, what is a Jake break, and other things that make a semi different. Also maybe talk about cabin comforts and gadgets, etc. Be safe my friend, 😎👍
@@bennydrives Yep lot of interesting thing about trucks that many don’t know of. Example how much do decent new tires cost, how much pressure do semi tires hold, can you change a flat tire yourself, or do you need to call towing, how much does a tow cost, is it ok to accidentally run your fuel tanks dry, Glow plugs or spark plugs, do you need to run your engine to provide power to ac unit when Summer, or for heat in winter if sleeping in your truck, etc.
Made many trips with my dad when I was young. Mostly to make sure he was staying awake. Hauled a lot of beer. Back in those days could tour the breweries. Let you help yourself to drinks also. Back in the good ole days.
Next time you're in Indy looking for a safe place, rhere's a Knight Terminal just north of I-70 and Regan Blvd Swift can stay at. It's pretty big and has full faculities
Another great video man. I'm about 60 hours til I'm solo and off my mentor truck. Been doing so many Walmart loads from Walmart DC in Utah. Lots of trips to Las Vegas 🥵. Stay safe out there bud!
Friends dad driver. When 11 or 12 we'd go with him on shorter trip like Knoxville to Ohio. Took fridge trailer with meat from slaughterhouse to Kelly canning plant. Return trip canned meat to supply house in Knoxville. He always stayed 2 or3 days before return "waiting on load". Spent them in little bar getting drink with girl friend while we played pin ball and pretty much ran amock. Made us swear not to tell. Guess I finally did!
I managed a truck stop years ago. Do the lot lizards look any better than they used to or is it still the same quality? On TV they make them look a hell of a lot better than I remember. 😂
Hey bro I been with swift for 2 months now, I’m loving it. Anyways I been wanting to start a UA-cam channel for trucking. Any tips you could share or recommended equipment?
10 years trucking, heard your comment about shorts and shoes, I get it it's hot but wait till a load lock let's go and you open the doors to something falling out of the trailer or you miss step and tear your shins on the steps. I do wear tennis shoes but they are steel toe! Stay safe! And keep it in the right lane except to pass of course!
I remember my first encounter with a lot lizard lol "I was just trying to get some money for some cigarettes' and a shower, you think we could work something out?"
Did you know Swift invests millions of dollars in autonomous truck research? 👍 Keep up the good work. Putting money in the Pocket of a company trying to put us all out of a job so they can profit more in the future.
Meh...I wouldn't worry about it. That technology isn't even possible. Think about daily driving and all the shit a person deals with when driving an 18 wheeler. Do you really think software will be able to anticipate for all that? No way. Domino pizza can't even get a "driverless" car deliver a pizza on city streets.
When your driving in the cities how do you know if you can go under a bridge before you approach it. I always see accidents with big rigs not able to go under them
You got that right, stay close go past a little where you drop your trailer. Turn right 90, left 90 then you're lined up. We only had a map and log book.
As a retired professional truck driver when the state of Illinois first started the 55 mph speed limit to save fuel after I had driven for a while I started feeling sleepy! SO I totally disagree with the 55 mph speed limit at least allow your trucks to go 65 mph that's an offered opinion!
I think I found the problem. Although I do keep my phone plugged in all day but I won’t use my phone to record anything? I’m going to play with the audio settings and see.
way back when i drove the country, it was told to me to put a set of empty boots or such on the steps of your driver side. this was to tell the lot lizards or picklers (pickle park a.k.a. rest area) that you don't need services.
My guy used to drive a van full of lizards up and down 95 between jersey and Delaware. Let's say he couldn't believe the bread they pulled in. He literally had to save some girls from getting taken on the road with driver's. Yo his stories are hilarious. Stay safe on that road fellas 🤣
Interesting Video..I was curious if you're Map could be moved over to the door post more. Big portion of glass and view you're covering there. Just Sayin!
Been driving 49 years i almost seen it all lot of good times the days of the big trucks always had triple digit truck and work for owner operator no fleet trucks
I drove for Swift from 2008 to 2011 and they lied on my DAC Report and ruined my trucking career. Just be careful with them, they like to get rid of drivers for the most obscure reasons. They wrote up the blown tires that I would call in for road side assistance as preventable accidents.
What kind of video head gear and set up you got ?? Hell of an idea ! I’m a delivery beer truck driver in Hawaii ..thinking of vloging my work day for UA-cam ???
Cool brother thanks ! I’ll try something..Like your videos, keep up the good work .. notice in the states like in that Walmart lot ? Everything is so specious and open .. easy to back up containers. In Hawaii? Now that’s a different story . Everything so compact and tight .. backing up to anywhere can b a challenge.. anyway stay safe brother
Hi Benny Drives, I would like question. What does regional mean? and dedicated? I know what over the road means but I am not trying to be all over the place. Definitely do not one over the road.
14:00 could been me(not saying it is), I am still a rookie and have not been out enough to have the experience. I have my CDL always one reason or another I am not able to go on the road. Thanks for sharing!
Dedicated is basically working for one account meaning you might be on a Walmart dedicated and deliver to only Walmarts. Regional is you stay in one area for example I’m south east regional right now, meaning I drive FL GA AL NC SC TN so that’s the south east
Do you get any kickbacks for suggesting new drivers? I'm supposed to hear from a recruiter Monday. Won't make the change for a couple months, but want to start planning for when I do. Merry Christmas man.
I drove every kind of manual transmission out there, triplex, duplex, and quadruplex Transmission !.never had an Automatic to driver in my lifetime of driving and I always wore sneaks an shorts when driving my self. So your not alone driver. 😃😃😃😃
Ooo, Walmart dc in Seymour IN… I gotta go there all the time to grab pallet loads for Indy delivery. Huh… not makin’ excuses for my pumpkin brethren, but all the times I’ve delivered there, they never had me slide tandems like that. No wonder he was having a hard time.
Had a one armed buddy who ran the loading dock at a company I worked for .One morning I saw him jump in a tractor with a 45 footer on and he backed it around a tight corner into the warehouse loading dock to get it loaded ! In between 2 other trailers ! He wasn't a driver ,just a guy who never realized he was disabled ! He did it because the night before the driver didn't back it in ! Said it was too tight a fit !
Ask for working in your shorts and tennis shoes I think any man that gets a job done and supports his family and keeps himself above the water could wear whatever he wants if you want to wear a pants you could wear pants if you want to wear shorts you could wear shorts and flip flops will ever gets a job done right. And second thank you for helping that guy that was a newcomer drive that truck and back it up you saved them a lot of time instead of laughing at somebody you helped somebody and that made me smile man because I feel like I only assholes don't help. And I forgot to tell you man I'm from Ohio and I seen a dude at international before on State route 68 wearing boxers straight boxers with lips all over them and he got out of a truck and was hooking the trailer whatever is comfortable I understand this was in July so it was real hot
Hi this one guy is always raging on swift drivers and that’s wrong because I drove for swift back in the nineties and have some friends that work for swift and they are very professional drivers. Keep in mind how many drivers they have. I’ve driven for forty seven years with a good driving record and it only takes a few seconds to change all that. Let’s be fair. 👍🙏👌👏🏻
Okay here's the deal with the CB radio, instead of talking to your windshield and giving a driver a hand signal through your windshield at about a hundred yards you can actually speak to them on the radio. There is no guarantee that they're going to have it all but they should and you can make the effort. You can spot someone's blind side while they're backing at the truck stop.
I'm not a trucker but I am a traveling salesman. I spent the night in a hotel in a military town not too long ago and at 03:00 I had one knock on my door and wake me up looking to do business 😠
Lizards should make pretty good money. I was on a cross country run with my b/f a couple years ago. Lot was full when we stopped for the night and had to park way in the back. From the time I walked into the store and back to the truck I had 6 offers from drivers.
I apologize for the static in the video. I’m not sure why it’s happening but I’ll figure it out 🤔
Static possibly from a phone charger plugged up while you also have camera plugged in..
What Steve said or sometimes having a wireless device (cell phone, GPS) near your camera can cause audio interference.
Thanks for the insight. I’ll try some things out

Gotcha man! I’ll definitely touch on that in future videos
I’ll definitely keep that in mind.
Another great video man. I'm about 60 hours til I'm solo and off my mentor truck.
Been doing so many Walmart loads from Walmart DC in Utah. Lots of trips to Las Vegas 🥵. Stay safe out there bud!
Sounds great man. I know exactly what Walmart you’re talking about. Good luck with everything!
You're making that money. That's a good haul.
I never saw one that would even begin to tempt me usually when they get to that stage they are so rough they can’t work anywhere else
Hey bro I been with swift for 2 months now, I’m loving it. Anyways I been wanting to start a UA-cam channel for trucking. Any tips you could share or recommended equipment?
I’d keep the basic tools with you. They always help.
I didn't know they made steel toe tennis shoes. That's awesome!
There are still a lot of us out here who deeply appreciate what an utterly vital, yet utterly unrecognized job trucking is.
Yes. I’m sure anyone that is in the trucking industry knows that.
Even if it happens what do you want me to do? Quit?
Meh...I wouldn't worry about it. That technology isn't even possible. Think about daily driving and all the shit a person deals with when driving an 18 wheeler. Do you really think software will be able to anticipate for all that? No way.
Domino pizza can't even get a "driverless" car deliver a pizza on city streets.
So why does swift get a bad wrap?
Autonomous/Self Driving Trucks?
NIT to Worry as Famous AM Late Night Radio Host George Nori Says.
It's probably going to happen.
When your driving in the cities how do you know if you can go under a bridge before you approach it. I always see accidents with big rigs not able to go under them
I use to be the spotter there at Knauf insulation. Those speed bumps sucks. Great video and watch out for those lot lizards. Lol!
Benny…..thanks for making great videos!!! Not one sided to any race….just a nice and natural video of your daily life in the cab! Great Job!!!👍👍👍
Thank you I appreciate the support !
You got that right, stay close go past a little where you drop your trailer. Turn right 90, left 90 then you're lined up. We only had a map and log book.
The clarity of the video is great!
Years ago I worked at the Swift Terminal in Edwardsville Kansas. Met a lot of nice people there. Enjoy your videos.
As a retired professional truck driver when the state of Illinois first started the 55 mph speed limit to save fuel after I had driven for a while I started feeling sleepy! SO I totally disagree with the 55 mph speed limit at least allow your trucks to go 65 mph that's an offered opinion!
I just drove up and down I65 to Nashville and back to Bama right before Christmas. Will do it again in a couple weeks too.
I’m real familiar with 65
@@bennydrives I drove it all the way up to Indiana and back the first time in May 2020.
I know any time I charge electronics it causes that static sound. I'm not sure if you were charging anything, but just thought I'd mention it.
I think I found the problem. Although I do keep my phone plugged in all day but I won’t use my phone to record anything?
I’m going to play with the audio settings and see.
Awesome watching you park. 👍
way back when i drove the country, it was told to me to put a set of empty boots or such on the steps of your driver side. this was to tell the lot lizards or picklers (pickle park a.k.a. rest area) that you don't need services.
Just Sayin!
Linehaul drivers can go in straight lines no turns. Your a rare breed
Been driving 49 years i almost seen it all lot of good times the days of the big trucks always had triple digit truck and work for owner operator no fleet trucks
Sounds like fun
Lot Lizards are great stress relievers for the trucking community.
Take some VD home to your wife.
Go for it! I wear a hat and have a hat clip for my go pro
Oh yah ! What hat clip you think is best to record?I looked it up and there’s so many different Kind ?Can u send a link for Amazon ? Thanks
@@thedavtracchannel3216 I’m pretty sure the go pro came with a hat clip that’s the one I use
Ok k thanks
Very interesting, how you live, how it's done, the routine. Good natured guy! Congratulations on your note from headquarters! 😀
Thank you!
Hi Benny Drives, I would like question. What does regional mean? and dedicated? I know what over the road means but I am not trying to be all over the place. Definitely do not one over the road.
Wow, I drove for Schneider and that was not they way they teach you to back.. that was pretty bad. You set up for a perfect backing...nice
Thank you. I don’t think he drove for them I think he was just hauling their trailer
DTB Radios in Pennsylvania does a exemplary job setting up and customizing radios.
I'm a trucker from New Zealand and love watching the vedios of drivers from the states
Hell yeah man! Keep on truckin
14:00 could been me(not saying it is), I am still a rookie and have not been out enough to have the experience. I have my CDL always one reason or another I am not able to go on the road. Thanks for sharing!
Stop at the Wild West truck stop in Vegas sometime, there's so many lot lizards roaming around.😄
I work at a walmart and have been playing around with the idea to do the associate to driver program thar walmart is offering.
Can you make a video explaining more about regional and dedicated? Please pour answer me.
Dedicated is basically working for one account meaning you might be on a Walmart dedicated and deliver to only Walmarts.
Regional is you stay in one area for example I’m south east regional right now, meaning I drive FL GA AL NC SC TN so that’s the south east
I wore shorts mostly. Jeans would make heat blisters on my nether regions. Had to have them lanced
I'm so glad I found your channel. I'm seriously considering getting my CDL. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us! What happened in Phoenix?
Glad to hear!
In Phoenix we shot some tik toks and they interviewed me and gave me some cool stuff
@@bennydrives that's awesome! I'm watching your video how you got your cdl through swift right now.
Do you get any kickbacks for suggesting new drivers? I'm supposed to hear from a recruiter Monday. Won't make the change for a couple months, but want to start planning for when I do. Merry Christmas man.
I drove every kind of manual transmission out there, triplex, duplex, and quadruplex Transmission !.never had an Automatic to driver in my lifetime of driving and I always wore sneaks an shorts when driving my
self.
I rarely go right Nashville TN I usually take 840 around to Lebanon TN n avoid that traffic if possible
What's holding your GPS up in place on your windshield left side?
The gps comes with a suction window mount
@@bennydrives thank you.
24:03 ??? I dont have 35 minutes to waste.
1:14 Do you thin they have a wide load banner on their front bumper?
You didn't know it was stuck on the string! dur dur dur! ;) Drive safe brother.
Haha! Thank you, you as well.
Good video. Drive safely my friend. God bless you 🙏.
Thank you!
I didn’t think he would have one. So I got out and helped instead
Hey did you get your cdl through swift?
I'm not a trucker but I am a traveling salesman. I spent the night in a hotel in a military town not too long ago and at 03:00 I had one knock on my door and wake me up looking to do business 😠
Lizards should make pretty good money. I was on a cross country run with my b/f a couple years ago. Lot was full when we stopped for the night and had to park way in the back. From the time I walked into the store and back to the truck I had 6 offers from drivers.
Always blocking the fuel-islands ! Shit don't stop lol. Love the video btw!!
Thanks man! And I swear!
