‘It’s always easy chatting with you.’ That really comes across. These videos are only as great as they are because of Ali’s ability to make it seem like a conversation more than an interview.
Baz Luhrmann is a fantastic director. I'm always obsessed how stylish his movies looks just like the way he dressed. He and his wife are amazing filmmaking team
At the end He says "Nice, it has always been easy chating with you." Nice compliment. What a guy, what a life. you know any movie is good, if done by him.
The church scene with the candles and crosses in Romeo + Juliet was the first part of the film I saw, peering around the door while my parents were watching it late at night. Its stayed with me ever since. It's incredible
My favorite movie of Baz is Moulin Rouge and this man is just a phenomenal movie maker! He is visual focused with a lot of details and make all of his movies aesthetically pleasing, amazing writing and phenomenal cinematography and directing. He really has a good eye for beauty and to really bring emotions to the viewers. Best movie director/producer ever❤️
It's always easy chatting with you - Ali's research and personal emotional connection to the artists work shines through again and again. I love his interviews!
For some reason I have absolutely no memory of hearing Exit Music in R+J, and I had no moment of recognition when I heard it on the album later, but I do clearly remember TSH and the shot of Leo in a suit smoking in the sunset, mainly because that awesome guitar riff just stuck in my head.
I learned about Baz bcuz of The Great Gatsby I absolutely loved the book. Read it in a high school class. Then when I heard the movie was coming out.. and saw the visuals I thought it was phenomenal!!!! Instantly loved him as a director! Was super happy when I found out he was directing Elvis ❤ *Had no clue he directed those other movies until this year! Wow!
The fishtank scene from "Romeo + Juliet" is truly iconic. One of the greatest scenes in cinema history, and maybe the best uses of music ever ('Kissing You," by Des'ree). Also, old school film looks WAY better than the digital crap they've got going on these days. Tell everyone to see this film!
@@dolourfitzgibbon6065 does he own his mind though? Did he ask for a frozen face because he thought it was beautiful? Baz and I are the same age. And I honestly believe that those of us nestled awkwardly between the Boomers and Gen X have a unique perspective on the world, which might be why I have always felt a special connection to his work.

I’m not a huge fan of Baz but Prince was protective of his music for good reasons Baz. I’m an Australian and his films are either a hit or miss… I loved the interviewer who was less pretentious …😂😂 Sorry .. I’ll pass
2:08 Wait. I can see blood on Leo's cheek though. That's a sin right there. Just like blood being depicted on statues of a crucified Jesus in churches.
I think he was sick when they were filming this interview, it had to be at the beginning of the promotion of Elvis, I remember his instagram posts during that time and his voice sounded weird and he also looked very tired, in his most recent stories he doesn't look or sound like that. I remember reading that he was really exhausted when he finished the movie.
Not a fan of his although I agree he's immensely talented. His movies are like music videos. I can't stand that. It makes them look incredibly superficial. Hated Moulin Rouge for that reason. Also horrible miscasting of Kidman and McGregor , especially their awful singing. Kidman just doesn't suit musical or comedy. She's best at drama.
Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful? Will you still love me when I got nothing but my aching soul? I know you will, I know you will, I know that you will Will you still love me when I'm no longer beautiful?
