I know exactly the moment of my worst childhood trauma. It was a day that unbeknownst to me shaped the next 40 years of my life.

Your emotional mastery class was SO HELPFUL. It's crazy how, although I never wanted to "blame" my parents, I can see the things that they did that shaped how I react. I also thought their childhoods were perfect and that they became narcissists because they were "spoiled." But, the more I looked into it, the more I learned strange things that my parents never wanted to talk about due to their "shame." My mother was taken from her maternal grandma because of abuse. I never KNEW that until about 4 years ago. So, she did NOT have a perfect childhood. She was "abandoned" by parents, abused by one grandmother, and neglected by her other grandmother. Same with my father. I remembered he had a milk-mother, because he took me to meet her once. He was not raised by his mom, because she was a narc. She couldn't deal with having a fifth child, and left him to another woman to feed. Does that excuse my mother's choice to financially abuse me? No. It's still a choice she made to continue this abusive cycle. But from your videos and your book, I understand it is up to me to break the cycle, and not continue this destructive pattern so that my kids will not suffer the way I did. And generations afterwards. The cycle must be broken, and it can end with my trying to accept what happened and learn from it.

Thousands of worse days - before I was 8 years old. It only got worse after that because of parental alcoholism (as it progressively worsens) and parental mental illnesses (undiagnosed). C-PTSD for real!
