    Too bad I live over 2,000 miles away in Northern Alberta, I would love to hang out there and help in the woodyard, from early memories as a young boy I would go to the farm and cut firewood, always a challenge to see how much I could do. All we had was a bucksaw and an axe, but loved the work. Now 60 years later still like making firewood, now with a chainsaw and splitter. You need to talk Scheib and your brother into coming down and work the processor for a weekend it would make for some amazing stories and a lot of firewood being processed. Cheers my friend.

    A good analysis would be timing yourself is stacking tall versus short, take into account time spent to stack in the trailer, then determine if the extra time is worth it to save space. For you space saving is good. Such an analysis would help some of us decide which way to stack in our woodyards. Sorry, I van be a numbers netd at times.

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  2 роки тому

      Not going to happen, I just do the work and get it done, not going to time myself anymore than letting people know how long each time. My guess is it takes longer to go high and more effort.

    Do you ever use the wood as a backdrop? Some of the best pictures of my children are standing in front of aged firewood. You might want to consider striking it a little higher in an area that will have sun hit it (light 4 pic) with slightly bigger pieces as a perfect backdrop.

    The air show in Oshkosh is 6/21 - 6/25.
    You will be seeing tons of really cool , albeit noisy aircraft for awhile.
    How hectic and crowded does Appleton get during that time ?
    Is traffic a giant mess ?
    I'd bet the restaurants,motels and gas stations LOVE the extra 50,000 people.

    How long does it actually take to dry out green hickory at 3 in sizes

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  Рік тому

      It depends on the drying conditions, in the sun all the time or shade, in a windy area or in a shed, off the ground or on pallets,
      covered or open, south facing wood and no rain? high or low humidity... bark on or bark off...green wood or dead wood? And a few others too!
