I am a captain that often flies in and out of Heathrow. The taxi distance is quite normal, but the volume of departing traffic is quite incredible. What you witnessed here was very normal. And for us in the cockpit annoying. The longer we stand, the more fuel burn. The more we monitor idle systems. Cost control is very important to the airline and holding both airborne and on the ground costs a lot of money.
Ohhh 13:50 Engines at full throttle until V1 the maximum velocity for takeoff (no return)... love it. Love flying.... GREAT VIDEO..... and yeah... Ha..... BEAUTIFUL red colour Rolls-Royce engine/'s at work here.
@@kristofk1902 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolls-Royce_Holdings ? Or are you referring to the German subsidiary of RR? As far as I'm aware the 1000's are built in Derby, England. I worked there for 31 years.
I agree, no other livery is as nice as Virgin's on the beautiful 787-9. What did you think of 11A? Was it too busy/noisy? I flew Upper Class last year - 6A outbound; 5A return. Flying again in August in 5A both directions.
Awesome footage! Love your videos as usual Dantorp. I certainly miss the 787's hydraulics. The climb looked pretty shallow and not steep. Was the flight fully loaded?
Interesting cabin crew announcement at 10.33 for passengers to return to their seats and fasten seat belts. Probably a recorded announcement - no passengers should be wandering about at that time.
That is both a good looking.....and good sounding engine. Boeing and Rolls-Royce have been as perfect a match as beer and pizza for many years. Many fine flights with the pairing of these two companies.
The engine sounds somewhat like a diesel engine idling. You know, like the engine on a bus. Of course, planes can't use diesel because it freezes at high altitudes.
I really don't understand why people say the A350 is quieter. I've heard plenty of Go Pro vids from this seat right next to the engines, and the B787 is quieter in all of them. I wonder if P&W's geared turbofan concept will ever be scaled up to have this kind of thrust. It's supposed to be incredibly quiet at any thrust thanks to letting the fan be bigger and have lower angular velocity for the same thrust (avoids the mini sonic booms at the fan blade tips that make the GE90-115B so damn loud even at higher thrust).
I have flown in a 787 with Air Canada. The hydraulics are audible, but other than that, it's a damn quiet plane. Not the point. As long as the same camera and defaults are used, you get an accurate comparison for the decibels, regardless of the quality of the sound in the environment (the more people, the quieter since human bodies absorb a lot of sound).
Wonder why RR engines turn clockwise? GE, PW, CFM and IAE turn counterclockwise. GE owns half of CFM. RR use to own 25% of IAE but now PW owns 61% and RR sold out.
Less cabin noise is because of those awesome Rolls Royce engines. The quietest engine you'll ever find for a jet plane and very powerful with incredimazing thrust!
RollsRoyce the best in the world, I remember a story where someone said to mr Rolls or mr Royce that driving one of his cars was so quiet that all he could hear was the clock ticking, mr Rolls or Royce Replied ' we will have to do something about that bloody clock. Whether it's true or not I don't know but it's a good story anyway.
Na. The tick tock of the clock story came from an old print ad for Rolls Royce back in the day as a way of promoting it's comfort (was a balck and white picture, had a caption along the lines of "at 60mph, the loudest noise in the RR comes from the electric clock). The quote was written by copywriters. Is a very well known campaign in ad circles due to it being so successful. Is often used as a prime example. Embellished stories about "the clock" have led from that campaign.
That sound at 14:45. I heard some times during takeoff in any airplane, but, if Pilot and Co-pilot are working on takeoff and tripulation are seat, why that sound means?
Ismael Teixeira are you talking about the shaking noise? I bet it has to do with something with the wings and it's making the transition from no load/partial load to--> full load on wings and etc. at that moment in takeoff the wings are taking huge load transition. They go from being relatively flat to being bent and swept up like the newer boeing wings are supposed to be. It's really noticeable if you see a 747-8 or newer they look even more swept up because the wings are longer. and yes I've heard it too many many times on all planes.
Cliff Lee thank you for explanation, but I think that sound is more like a chime than a shaking, but I really thank you for your time to answer for me.
Is it just me or do the Rolls Royce engines on the 787 sound louder than the General electric ones . I have been on a jetstar 787 and was amazed how quiet it was .
I LOVE that candy apple red!
Always thought the 787 didn't have a roar sound. Well, I put on headphones, and I hear a roaring sound after rotation. Epic!
haha well the RR engines always roar on the 787 :)
RR Trents are louder than GEnx
@@diego90XD agreed. RR engines have a natural roar on the 787 when put to about 80% thrust
The lighting, the livery, the engine view, and the engine roar, They all blew me away. Great Video!
Awesome video as usual. Liked my friend
13:50 thank me later.
Thank you.
No, I'll thank you now!
I'm flying the Virgin Atlantic 787-9 to from Heathrow to Miami in March. (Economy class)
Hope you have a good trip :)
Thanks!
so am i
I of flews yestersdays on 23 marchs
Such an elegant engine shape and so incredibly quiet at taxi thrust... wow... but that was quite a long taxi! :)
I am a captain that often flies in and out of Heathrow. The taxi distance is quite normal, but the volume of departing traffic is quite incredible. What you witnessed here was very normal. 11:48 Rainbow🌈
Ohhh 13:50 Engines at full throttle until V1 the maximum velocity for takeoff (no return)... love it. Love flying.... GREAT VIDEO..... and yeah... Ha..... BEAUTIFUL red colour Rolls-Royce engine/'s at work here.
Nice view of takeoff, climb-out, English countryside, clouds, etc. Wonderful. Enviable.
what a fantastic view, landscape, cloud formation....great work.
Nothing beats that colour on the engine!!
Amazingly quiet airplane. Huge thanks for recording and for sharing!
What an absolute magical view from the air. Thank you for sharing this awesome video :)
Just next flight, smok some weeds and fly with any airlines ( you will enjoy both flying by body and breain
Was looking forward to the engine start, sad that you skipped it.☹️
I mean hey, we got the spool up on takeoff!
I know, right... But redeemed with the spool up!
Thats what I like, an American built plane with Brit engines to get it off the ground!!
Paul England 6571 Us Brit’s have been making engines for planes since the early 1930s when we made engines for the De havilland DH89A Dragon Rapide
Paul England 6571 - just like the P51 Mustang with the Merlin engine 😁
Those are the Rolls Royce Trent 1000 engines are actually a German company
@@kristofk1902 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolls-Royce_Holdings ? Or are you referring to the German subsidiary of RR? As far as I'm aware the 1000's are built in Derby, England. I worked there for 31 years.
Them babies purr like kittens...really, really big kittens.
Fantastic Scenery!
I liked the passby of the Ethiopian Airliner. My father worked for them in the late 1960's.
I too love that amazing colour. I had a Peugeot 306 D turbo in that 'Diablo Red', which I still miss after 20 years, sob!
What a beautiful view. Nicely done. Thanks or sharing.
More like stunning clouds
Man you are so underrated!
You deserve more attention
Oh man first time i have seen the RR in Virgin red, gorgeous!
I flew from Logan to Heathrow on VA’s very first dreamliner Birthday Girl on her second flight back in 2014. She was an absolute wonder to fly on.
Double R sounds real nice
Nice Trent 1000 sound😎
All I can say is wow what an awesome vid.
Sure is! Certainly not as good sounding as the A350 ;)
Aaron Hilsz-Lothian Definitely

Nice work. and looks like they detailed this plane. it's spotless Wow
Now, that is a quite engine!
AWESOME video!!! 1st favorite youtuber✈✈✈✈
Beauty and extreme power!!!
Nice quality vid. The image at 15:20 is stunning! Thanks for sharing.
Awesome footage! Love your videos as usual Dantorp. I certainly miss the 787's hydraulics. The climb looked pretty shallow and not steep. Was the flight fully loaded?
I love that candy apple red on Virgins.🥰 I think they should offer candy apple red candy of some signature sort on their flights!
very nice filming thank you
Nice vid! Going on a BA 767-300 and a Iberia A340-600 LHR-MAD rtn can't wait!
I wouldn't mind be up there for 15 hours with this quiet engine
13:45 Takeoff
Awesome rainbow takeoff! And I love your videos 😃
That's a rather interesting transplanetary flight!
Thats so funny I was sat on board the other Virgin 787 sitting on cargo stand 601 and remember watching this takeoff at 14:39
Thats a pretty plane!
Amazing as always :)
beautiful sky!!
11:54 Oooooo rainbow.
Stunning!
Awesome video!
Amazing footage! Thanks for sharing!
We fly Emirates all over the World - love the 777-300 but you have to go on a A380-800 just an amazing aircraft
Great rainbow too!
Man that's a great shot. I only fly GE though.
Thank you good work
Wat a beautyfull take off, nice colord engine.super, thanks Daniel.
The engine sure sounds great, but nothing can beat the GE engines. Whether it's 90, nx, or 9x.
Those Rolls Royce engines are the best in the business.
man Dan that's a big ass engine just think if you had 2 more added engines on that 787 it would be like a rocket ships nasal baby
I love to experience Virgin Atlantic!
I do like the virgin color, imagine it on an a350
Interesting cabin crew announcement at 10.33 for passengers to return to their seats and fasten seat belts. Probably a recorded announcement - no passengers should be wandering about at that time.
Do they not usually receive a continuous climb out of Heathrow? They levelled off at about 8,000' for a good while. Is this quite common?
RR engine sounds so smooth, very much like electric motor.
10:54 THATS LITERALLY THE END OF THE RAINBOW 🌈
Heathrow seems to be a very congested airport.
The GE engines are so much quieter its honestly amazing.
I thought it were the RR the most quiet
I thought the BA A320 was going to win the Taxi race but he made a turn! :(
I think that you will find that the BA plane was landing, not taking off.
That is both a good looking.....and good sounding engine. Boeing and Rolls-Royce have been as perfect a match as beer and pizza for many years. Many fine flights with the pairing of these two companies.
Take off at 14:02. Thank you.
great video, seemed like they stopped climbing for a while then started again. I wonder why?
They are restricted to 6000 for noise pollution probably then when they're out from London - they have no restriction
I mean The american airlines livery is one of the best on the dreamiliner. Even kenya airways they have red engines
This is an iphone 6s CAMERA😱😱😱😱😱😱#amazing
I want your hobby/job whatever! ☺
mumbles552 good
Me too ☺️

Love this plane
I love the wing and engine view what seat is that Dan the man
That thumbnail is eyecandy
thanks, beautiful
FFWD to 13:50
Do you use a tripod in your trips?
Wonder why RR engines turn clockwise? GE, PW, CFM and IAE turn counterclockwise.
GE owns half of CFM. RR use to own 25% of IAE but now PW owns 61% and RR sold out.
The trent 1000s sound so much better than the GEnX
gt view of the storm clouds was they just rain or thunder storm clouds
What a long takeoff roll...is that at VR of 200? :D
Sometimes I am on a plane and it is pouring. I look at the engine and think "Nigga I don't care if I inhale rain, I just wanna fly"
lol what's that rapidly moving light thing near the ground, on the right side of the screen starting from 19:45?
Cabin noise is much lesser!! That's why they call it a Dreamliner!!
Less cabin noise is because of those awesome Rolls Royce engines. The quietest engine you'll ever find for a jet plane and very powerful with incredimazing thrust!
Which olloclip do you use, the wide angle? @dantorpaviation
is it me or did that seem like a really long take off roll. A beautiful one !
I see virgin got in on the Dreamliner act and I wonder how long it will be before they get an a380
Anthony Parker I don't think that they will. I believe that there future network will be supported by 787s and a350..... When they buy some ;)
ok in case your unaware a 787 is a Dreamliner like I mentioned but wondered if they would get an A380 as they do have a few airbuses
Anthony Parker I was referring to when they get some a350s.
I have read since that virgin have got an order in for the a380 along with 12 a350s

I do see that the engine is red for virgin atlantic while the Engine for british airways is blue

You mean the bell noise then?
The one that sounds when the keep your seatbelt on sign lights up?
What if all the engines stop working in the middle of take-off?
I didn’t even know they had one.
Awesome engine , take off and view!! BUT!! How the heck could you stand those women talking in the background the entire time ?
Where those the FAs?
I got a ad for Aer Lingus before the video XD
Is it just me or do the Rolls Royce engines on the 787 sound louder than the General electric ones . I have been on a jetstar 787 and was amazed how quiet it was .
It's not just you
I prefer GE
lol you can hear the crew in the background having a conversation
No wonder they call the 787, "Dreamliner"
oh yeah man, that's nice
Boeing still the best .
