I know they were acting but their chemistry together on screen was absolutely amazingly fantastic. It could not have been better, just proves what amazing actors they are!!!!!!
I binged the first three seasons of downton in just over 2 weeks andI think it took me over 2 weeks to watch episode 1 of season 4. I don't think I have ever cried that much about a tv show in my life

Same friend......Downton initially looked like some cheesy soap shows here in the USA then outa nowhere there was this most amazing love story with Matthew and Mary...loved every scene with them

I hated that he died. He & Mary were so perfect for each other.. no other man held a candle to Matt. Although, Henry is quite nice.
I like Henry more and more every time I rewatch it, I hated him the first time. But I guess he's what Mary needed in a second husband, though no one (clearly) can compare to Matthew.
@@littletreeproductions Henry was a jerk to her multiple times...he wasnt 10% as kind to her as Matthew was...why on earth she married him is a question i will have til I die lol
@@mattdavis1735 I mean I think she realized that no matter who she ended up marrying, she'd have to settle (massively so) as no one could compare to Matthew. I really didn't like the way Tom completely pushed Mary into marrying Henry, I honestly think Tom had a massive crush on him lol

I just finished 3 seasons of DA. Matthew's death was so heartbreaking for me. What an amazing chemistry they had💔 Never have been so invested in a fictional couple . The love,sadness,pain all were expressed in their eyes whenever they meet. I donno how I would watch other 3 seasons seeing Mary with someother💔

Downton Abbey ended for me after Matthew's death... Couldn't watch the other seasons..
I kinda feel the same way... Though on rewatches I actually like season 4-6 more and more but season 1-3 are just so special and feel like their own story. I'm still so offended they didn't even mention Matthew in the movie.

Lo so che è un film lo so che è finzione scenica ma una storia di passione così tormentata così rincorsa da entrambi è pure magia, puro sentimento puro ardore. I limiti di ognuno coperti dalle virtù dell'altra. Coinvolgimento di sguardi di carezze di pensieri. Fino alla tragica fine mortale che rende tutto eterno e meraviglioso. Mary and Matthew give me hope for my own romance
when he was riding in the car, i just suddenly got a feeling that something was about to go wrong and I hoped and hoped that it was nothing but a feeling you get after being so very happy as their last interaction with their son had been, with Mary asking for that "one decent kiss". So in those few moments I crossed my fingers, sat straight up wishing to just let them be happy and well 😭😭 but my hopes were dashed and heart crushed. sighhhhhhhh

"Of course it's the end. How could it not be?" wow that was an emotional ending! Their ending was true love but also true tragedy!!
It was extremely sad when Matthew died as Lady Mary was NEVER going to be the same again. Although she NEVER said it to him, she tells his mother that she only feels half herself when she's not with him. In that one moment, her life, her happiness and love are gone forever. I cry again when I think of it!

Christ Matthew was so boring. Mary is such a witty, intelligent person and he just seemed kind of plain compared to her. He changed her into more of a "traditional" woman so tbh I was glad when she got to run the estate and regain her independence.
