INCREDIBLE!! I WONDER IF MY DAD. KNEW AND LISTENED TO MISS ANITA O'DAY. HE WAS 40 IN 1963. I WAS 11. I LOVE. MISS O'DAY!! SHE WASI THINK SHE WAS ONE GORGEOUS FEMALE, HER MANNERISMS WERE SO BECOMING.SHE WAS SO. SENSATIONAL, IT WAS BEYOND COMPREHENSION!! WOW, MISS O*DAY!! MERCI,
Who would have thought a saxaphone part would have ever been embraced by a vocalist? She is a sensation. I probably would have passed out if I had ever had a chance to see her during her height of career live! wow... so gifted her level of incorporating all live noises/sounds around her in what she is doing spontaniously. Genius.
I got lucky and saw her with "The Buddy Rich Ghost Band" at "The Blue Note" in Autumn of 1987. Her performance was wonderful in my opinion, but the pianist told me her pitch was generally lacking.
This video is played by a Japanese band called Toshiyuki Miyama & Newherd. This band has original songs unique to Japan, and is a famous big band with history and ability.
@amyketchum hate to tell you, She is the best singer EVER, but she did not do this spontaneously. I study her very, very closely. Looked at nearly her recordings.
There's no one greatest ever. Anita is absolutely wonderful. But so are Sarah and Ella and Lady Day and Dinah Washington, to name just a few. And Joe Williams and Sinatra and Billy Eckstein if we want to consider the men.
THE TRUMPET PLAYER AND SAXOPHONES WERE MAGNIFICENT. OH YEAH, MY FATHER JESSE ALSO DID PLAY THE SAXOPHONE. THANK YOU MISS O'DAY AND MUSICIANS.
I heard it in the 60s magical from Stan Getz to Anita O Day I listen to the four brothers often through the years my favourite
