Excellent documentary! That Liam Dale went back into the early history of the United States and Japan made the whole saga more comprehensible. The video is well narrated and the video is superb. I'm also glad that kudos were given to Doris (Dory) Miller for his bravery and quick thinking through manning a gun that Sunday morning. Very well done.
When Japan defeated the 'mighty Russian navy'.... That has to be a joke. Watch the video posted by Drachinifel titled 'Voyage of the Damned' and it's sequel. Russia's Second Pacific Squadron was anything but mighty.
He didn’t say the Russian navy they faced was mighty, he said they defeated “the mighty Russians at sea”. The point was that because Russia was seen as a European power, their defeat by Japan elevated the Japanese status to one who could rival a European nation.
@@Nitedawg1 Well said, Dawg. And one thing I'd like to add: When the Japanese adopted Europe's Parliamentarianism and then went into China with it, what they were doing was coping their understanding of the Western way of statesmanship.
