Aside from the great explanation of Directional Drilling concepts, this is an excellent Safety Moment example with regards to rig site safety; thanks for sharing.
This was an interesting lecture. I'm a mechanical engineer with virtually no knowledge or experience in drilling. I live in the Utica shale in NE Ohio and I'm fascinated about the process.
Yes right. First... the best dds have been drillers. Second.... knowing suchbtheories is good but addotionally dd has to have good projection ahead too, Third, to be cool in case of problem, always arrange and check whether everything is available for the next hole size or not. By the way does he know if kick off point has high angle, suppose that 7 or 8 instead of low angle ( 0 or 1 degree) which usually is supposef in the plan.... if azimuth has to be turned for 180 degree or so, then first dd has to spend a joint to come to near 0 degree then go to get azimuth andvthen to build?
I would love to see a similar detailed video how they managed to drill the intersecting shaft to finally cut off the flow in the Deepwater Horizon incident! I would also like to see one on the Kuwaiti horizontal drilling that helped start the Iraqi Invasion of Kuwait!
How about you show them how to hold you’re tool face while drilling with a mud motor drilling with water base mud at 18k feet. You are using a lot of big terms man but it’s actually very simple. Everyone runs those steerables that all you have to do is punch numbers into you’re labtop.
that was really helpfule good drilling drectioner from explanation of dierctionl drilling concepts this is an excellent techer i m drilling ineginer in algeriawe have to muche comapny drilling buts its geart weatherford and sclumeberger
The audio on this video is terrible. I very much wanted to listen to this lecture but it sounds like the like the guy is in a metal box talking with a microphone - echoes, muttering & totally ununderstandable? He should have a head microphone on going to a speaker....is it so expensive to get correct audio these days? It may be fine for those in the classroom but copying & uploading it does not work!
Not to be a party pooper, but I think that someone with as little experience as he has in directional drilling needs to be teaching a class about directional drilling.
3 years directional drilling, I’ve drilled more directional wells in my career as a driller than he has as a dd.. and the best dd”s are guys who where actually drillers
It's the future lol with fiber optics beening the future no wants it lasded to poles anymore the don't want the eye sore so they drill it in we'll be working for years
Very informative and useful for today' drillers----TY.30 foot standard drill pipe.

I think that I agree with whatever he said. Maybe.

Good Lecture. "It's pretty intense."
I need the calculation for slide ahead and slide seen in rougneck terms plz
Hello everyone. If you have this lesson with good quality of audio, let me know please. In this video huge echo.
V good may I have the presentation as PDF or ppt
I need help with HDD steering if u know a channel or pdf that will help just tell me . thanks in advance

My thoughts exactly, it looked like a pre school art class.

@@TheDriller100 how about roughnecks whom worked motors and wants to pursue DD the MWD route?
Argh! "pounds of pressure" ... "pounds of torque" (about 46 minutes in).
SI is your friend.
The directional driller job is slowly being phased out.
why?

Booming not phase out....wrong
