That's right. As a private pilot I can tell you that it is very very hard to get a job like this. You need not only be an exceedingly good pilot, but also have completed lots of courses and preferentially, you want to have friends working for the company.
This was Igor’s dream and mission- to save lives and property. He would be amazed to see where his company is today and the aircraft in production and use.
It looks like the main gearbox is fitted at an angle, leaning to the left. Number 2 engine sits higher looking at the intake, which would make sense IF the MGB sits at an angle. Is this true or is it just the way it looks in this footage?
@@slickstrings Incorrect, they load them onto Antonov An-124 cargo planes and fly them down from Oregon where Erickson is based. Check out Erickson's UA-cam page for a video showing how they do it.
An air-frame only a mother could love. Except that I'm totally smitten with her awkward looking, exposed bones. I'd like to fly one of these things someday.
I just watched one of these take of from Cyril E. King Airport in St Thomas. You have to see it up close to really grasp how big it is. BTW, 500 GPH? I guess this thing doesn't qualify for the fuel economy tax break!!!
Very interesting. I live in California and these helicopters are used extensively during Fire Season
Even as an american I appreciate how he adapts to metric for the australian audience. Awesome video!
He is Canadian so we deal in liters
Metric much simpler.1 liter weighs 1kilogram,1 cubic meter weighs 1000kg(1 metric tonne).Tank containing 10,000 liters therefore weighs 10tonne.
Excellent and informative video! Thanks, Keith!
They Build these just down the road from me..... love seeing the new ones fly for the first time.......... I want one !😆
Very proud to flew with you Keith

A very utilitarian build. Awesome!
This is my dream helicopter if I ever get my rotor-craft license. I'm sure you need to be at the top of your game to get hired on for one of these.

Is the nose part from HH3 jolly green?
When the Sky Crane is collecting water from a lake or such, what would happen if fish or any kind of debris gets caught in that pipe?
you will notice from the film, that there is a filter case on the end of the flexible hose , so no fish or swimmers would get sucked up .

Thats an E model and some of the E's have F model upgraded landing gear, best way to tell is to look at rotor head
Very nice and informative video. How you get this beast from the U.S. all the way down to Australia?
they pack them onto container ships.

Never should have asked the eight ball. I bet that compressor is not cheap and you won't find one at harbor freight.

It's time for a quadcopter...2-3 times the lift....or a combat load Abrams main battle tank...500 NM range with payload.
I'm a good back seat driver 😂😂😂
