Less than a month to go, before »Halo«, the new chef d'oeuvre from Finland's melancholic progressive metal masters AMORPHIS, will finally be available via Atomic Fire, and in a few days, the band will reveal another single. Yet today, they provide another look behind the scenes of the recording with Jens Bogren and how the guitars and bass tracks were produced.
    Guitarist Esa Holopainen comments:
"First I thought it would be a pretty natural continuation to 'Queen Of Time", but now as we heard the album, it definitely has a different touch in there. If I listen to the songs now, I think it's slightly heavier in some parts - much heavier! - but it still has all those AMORPHIS elements in there. But I guess it will surprise people."

"not as syrupy as the Queen of Time" is all I wanted. Love the fact that Olli is back; hopefully on this album there will be more of his songs! Love whatever the guy makes! The latest Barren Earth was a masterpiece.

Cool thing to see that Esa and Jens used e-sitar again on "kebab-sounds" for album, real beauty of an instrument!

Awesome to see Oppu with a nihilist shirt. If he composed their new record entirely by himself, it would sound progressive just like barren earth. And with a touch of sunlight studio just like the old days, then the boys are back.

i never heard a band make a negative remark about their previous and one of their best albums - syrupy????

Likewise, but it's refreshing isn't it?
I think its like a relationship - the longer you're in it, the more negative things you are aware of. Would have liked Olli to expand on what he specifically thought was 'syrupy' though.

@@evanstephen300 I never thought of that word before in the context of tQoT, but now that Olli said it, it makes perfect sense. It is the main reason why I couldn't love that album as much as I do Circle or UtRC. Syrupy I guess = sugary sweet, melodic and super polished, with Disney-like orchestration, lacking a bit of an edge/roughness. That's my understanding anyway.
