I'm attempting to squeeze my memoir into this structure, and it's certainly harder than you make it sound, lol!

Haha, I felt the same way when I was plotting my novel. 😅 I imagine using it for a memoir really forces you to boil down the scenes you're going to include. Wishing you all the best as you write it!

Hey Nicole, I was just watching your riveting video on how to write a 5 paragraph essay. Although I found the video informative and helpful I couldn't help but feel misled. The video started with two ninjas, and I thought that the ninjas would be a major part of the video. After watching the video and realizing the ninjas would only have a limited role I am sorry to inform you that I can no longer watch these videos. Promises have consequences when they are not kept. I was promised ninjas, and I received very few ninjas.

I know this video is old, but I have a question. Does the mentor have to literally be a person? Or can it be an idea, experience, place etc? Thanks for making easy to understand videos!

So glad you enjoyed the video! No, the mentor doesn't have to be a person. It can be anything that gives the protagonist motivation, insights and training. For example, an object (like a book), or a code of ethics, or an experience from their past. You can also have multiple mentors throughout your story. I should probably make a video all about the mentor archetype.
