Maybe a portion of the interview was cut, but she is not properly describing the Hero’s Journey. If this is truly what she thinks, she has a fundamental conceptual error.

Hero's journey is a guideline not a formula. Formulas never work, guidelines help. Ultimately is how you use utilize them.
