@@davidmhale521 I understand that basic concepts are difficult for you. Beating a police officer with a flag pole is not peaceful protest. Setting up tents in a field is peaceful protest.
Separate from the topic of peaceful vs violent protest: any protesters trespassing may be arrested and prosecuted. Depending on how the school chooses to define the encampment, the students may be considered trespassers and in that case could be arrested. Breaking and entering the US Capitol building was a clear example of breaking laws.

The International Court of Justice ruled recently that Netanyahu and his extremist government are plausibly commiting the crime of genocide against the 2-3 million Palestinian people. The UN Human Rights council also recently came out with a special investigation and report saying that the threshold for the crime of genocide and crimes against humanity has been met. That is what the protests are really about and why not another nickel or arms should be sent by the US, as it would be aiding and abetting.
The International Court of Justice is wrong. They have no authority to tell Israel what to do with their own land.

@@mwl5 No, at 18, they legally stopped being children. I was legally designated an adult at 18 when I became needed as cannon fodder for the Vietnam Draft. The government removed any decision-making on my part from the equation. Funny how that worked for all Black draft-age males who made up just 5 percent of the U.S. population but ended up representing 25 percent of those sent to Vietnam.
I have two grandchildren at Yale, a 19-year-old and a 20-year-old. I respect them as adults who know how hard they had to work to become valedictorians and graduate at the top of their high school classes. They support the Columbia student protestors. However, they have decided to support Palestine in other ways.

NPR interviewed a spokesman for Columbia University who explained that the policy of the university was to remain neutral on political matters, so it could not act on the request of protesters to BDS Israeli Interests. It never occurred to the NPR interviewer of this individual, that patronizing the economic interests of an Israeli administration is to enable it to carry out a genocide; which is not a neutral position.

According to recent polling, the majority of the Palestinian people are still very much in support of the attack on Israel, and they freely voted for a government that has always been openly devoted to the destruction of Israel-the nation not having the right to exist, which was also the basis of the rejection of the partitioning proposed by the Peel Commission back in the day. So that’s a vote for war, polling that is still in support of war, so that raises another obvious question: Why are the protesters vehemently opposing the desire of the Palestinians? Is it true anywhere in history that, if you start a war, you can then dictate the consequences of it to yourself and your people by some other means? It makes for a great TikTok campaign to try to get around the natural consequences of war, though, labeling it as genocide instead. What would Hamas do to Israelis if it had the capability? Any different? Or do they view and treat Israeli civilians as just targets for elimination? This is what happens when students are educated via social media propaganda instead of hitting the books and getting real about history and human nature.

If Hamas actually gave a shit about its people and peace, it would offer to dissolve itself and transfer power to the PLO on the condition they have two-state deal worked out with Israel. Who doesn't want peace, but when are these activists going to understand that isn't even a possibility with Hamas in power? A ceasefire will just explode with more violence as already demonstrated over a decade ago. The idea that Israel is somehow going to do any deal with Hamas given what they did is insane. Israel is responding with overwhelming force and the results have been tragic, but is that really a surprise when you look at the timeline from 1948 to today? Ironic that social media was supposed to connect humans, yet it has seemingly fostered a lower understanding of human nature - the sometimes unpleasant, dark realities of human nature that don't just go away because you make a TikTok.
