- Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser shares his recollections of getting hooked on guitar, his first guitar and how he learned to play the instrument. "Listening to albums is where I really trained my ear," says Kisser. "I studied acoustic guitar and Brazilian music, the theory and other stuff, but with heavy music and rock and roll, listening to the albums-vinyl and cassette tapes, and really trying to learn the songs."

Andreas is a super guitar player. During the time Brazil has produced several good guitar players like Andreas, such as, Kiko Loureiro, Robertinho do Recife, Lúcio Maia, and others more. Good vibes to Rock.
Andreas is why I start learning guitar! And the best thing is I learned the exact same way he did, and as he said in the 90's you had to learn by yourself, no youtube or internet, and I think it gives you an approach of the guitar that is more natural, at least it's what I feel...

Great guitarist but it turns out he is a prick who shows zero gratitude to Max/Igor, and now Eloy. Sepultura's blood roots is History. He was just fortunate enough to be a roadie.
I remember 1996, I remember but want so badly to forget 2003. I remember 2006. I also remember 2011 and the speck of light that started illuminating through a black hole; a glimmer of hope and resurrection from a devouring void.
Kisser will be better known for Andreassholephysic String Theory rather than 6-string theory.

Great guitarist Andreas!
He was in Liverpool for the Matthew Street Festival a few years back to play with a Brazilian Beatles band I believe but, the festival was cancelled for some reason. Was about the time of this shirt I reckon so he may have got in then. I was lucky enough to see them on the Chaos AD tour in tge Liverpool Royal Court many years ago as a teen. Great show, great player, great band.

Andreas is a great guitar player and he's also very charismatic. Sepultura kicks ass through and through and he's right when he advises to stick with the basics and take it from there, develop your ear and do it with passion because that's what music is all about. I always loved that Sepultura made it a point to incorporate elements from Brazilian music into their songs and it made them unique, hands down they are the best metal band to ever come out of South America.

I like that a metal guitarist tells people to find their own instrument and express themselves with the music they like. I'm a metalhead but there's zillions of other genres apart from metal!
Yeah can't agree more with the multiple genres part. But. I personally cannot listen to any other genres other than rock and metal

Right? 30+ years being a worlwide 1st line metal band lead guitarist, always with a Jackson or his favourite Charvel... strange that he doesn't have a signature and some much lesser figures do. Even Max has had one from long ago even when he doesn't match the 'signature kind' of guitarist...

First song i learned was Black Sabbath N.I.B was the best my fathers co worker was teaching me taught me theory and everything that’s great and all but the best part was we just jammed and he made it fun he played along with me and had his drummer come to lessons and we all jammed was such a great experience learning and teaching a instrument gotta make it fun how any way you can greatful to have learned from someone who done that

Yeah man. One of the first guitars I lusted for was a Jackson Dinky. One of the first songs I learned on guitar was "Troops of Doom" from the "Schizophrenia" album.

If I am correct that's a Jackson RRT5 Pro Series which I have owned, It's a sick guitar with 2 SD Distortion pickups. Unfortunately the Soloist and Dinky ruined every other shape for me... I couldn't get along with the V so I sold it.
I'm the opposite way. Flying Vs ruined strat shaped guitars for me. I've had my RR3 for 12 years or so and I still play it every day!
@@tenhundredkills Looking back, I should've kept my RR and eventually would get used to it... oh well. Maybe next time I get a chance I'll get one to keep at home and jam.
@@tenhundredkills i use an rr3 too, it wont stay in tune at all, any tips?
@@luna-md1vc How old is your RR3? After about 10 years or so of ownership I started having tuning problems. Plus, when tuning, I could feel the gears grind. I bought new Gotoh tuners and problem solved!
