I quite liked this movie. Really surprised to find it seems to have been made on a shoestring budget...the atmosphere was spot on, I could almost feel the cold damp rain. The house looked like it certainly should be haunted. And the actresses playing Annabelle and Patricia were especially good. Thank you for posting it!

I must say that I was REALLY pleasantly surprised with this movie. I am VERY picky when it comes to scary movies and did not know what to expect with this one. I LOVE that the movie is in black and white and also the movie actually HAS a story line to it, that makes sense, which is really hard to find. Keep up the great work and THANK YOU SO much for sharing your hard work with us.

Mr. Stitch. Wow. What an excellent movie! H.P. Lovecraft would have loved it. You UNDERSTAND what most modern horror film makers have forgotten: how to use light and shadow to create atmosphere rather than relying on a bag full of computer tricks (special effects). Slaughterhouse films, anyone can do. Go to any abattoir and start the camera. Atmosphere. That is the key word. Poe understood it. Machen, Blackwood, Lovecraft, M.R. James, they understood it. Weave an atmospheric spell and ignite the imaginations of their followers. Bravo Mr. Stich. I cannot say enough good things about this movie. I will spread the word. There are many among us (die-hard horror fans) who would like to see horror film making return to the old ways. It's not as easy as hiring a computer-effects specialist and renting out a few gallons of ketchup, but the effort is worth the while. "Man's strongest emotion is fear, man's greatest fear is fear of the unknown (H.P.).

Quite enjoyed this. Far from a Hollywood block buster but that's what made it special. Any low budget bloopers (rain that doesn't actually wet anyone and a 1971 gravestone that was obviously late Victorian) were far outweighed by pure atmosphere, brilliant B&W, and quite a few jumps. You kept me watching till the end. Need more...

This was a great movie! I don't know if you are film students or just making your own movies, but this was really good! The black and White effect was great, as was the story, the camera work, and perfectly timed music score. Great choice on the actors as well. Sometimes the music was louder than the people talking and I couldn't hear what they were saying but that's it. Great job!!

"You Bastard! How dare you invade my body!!!!" Best line I've heard in a long time (and looking at Victor's polyester cardigan and cardigan and NHS specs I have to agree with the heroine.) Oh - and as this is supposedly set in 1971, your 'continuity crew' should have ditched the Beck portrait, Ikea picture frames and poster for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs etc .... the wood chip wallpaper was a nice authentic touch though) :-)

I liked the film, it not only explains the difference between a haunting and a poltergeist, the film maker tries his best to help open the viewers mind to other realms of existence.

I really enjoyed this! LOVE that it's in black and white. I love the way the era in which it takes place is never stated and kind of has a different feel with each character - like Annabelle, I got the impression that she was from the 1800's, and the main character from the thirties, and the ghost with the noose around her neck, the twenties. I'm not sure if you meant it this way, but it was awesome! The small rooms in the house give it a very claustrophobic atmosphere. And a few of the scenes reminded me of The Haunting (1963). Awesome plot! You could tell a lot a love went into making this. I can't wait to see what you'll create next!!!!

I kept thinking of Rosemary's Baby all the other scary haunting films of that area that I grew up watching. I hope that you make more and we see them in theaters. I am one of those people who is very hard to please when it comes to any kind of movie, be it paranormal or horror. The more the gore the happier I am. I am not a big fan of black and white movies and it took me several tries to get through the first hour, however once I rolled a fat one and really got into it I found myself not able to go to the bathroom scared that I might miss something. What a great job on the movie and hope there are more to come.

Seldom does a film grip me like this one did. The icing on the cake was it being shot in black and white, a very appropriate touch. My window was open and it was raining outside when raining in the film, which added to my experience. I'm British, and was very good to watch a very well put together British film. Two words......epic win.
After only a few minutes of the film starting, I felt it was going to be a good one, and it was. It's designed to scare people, and it works. A cracking piece.

A very fun horror flick! I hope the ghosts are nice enough to clean up that crime scene for the poor medium, her fingerprints are on that murder weapon!

  • @robynsheppard5541

My only gripe is a continuity issue: When Mrs. Wodehouse arrives, it is 8 months after her sister's death. Yet Annabelle states that Mr. Baylock had disappeared "6 months ago," or two months after his wife's death, and that she (Annabelle) had discovered this upon bringing them their breakfast.
Other than that, I enjoyed the film immensely. It held my interest from the first frame. The characters and plot were believable, the acting was understated, and it was easy to see why the English are the masters of the ghost story. English actors always look like real people, much more so than Americans. But that just might be my English heritage speaking... lol
Oh, and the box with the photos in it? I have the same box! I keep my jewelry in it. Just served to make the movie that much more "homey."

Yes, I noticed that apparent inconsistency of dates also.... Though I wonder, was that also a little inkling of the ghostly happenings in the house since the sister's death? Was the maid still in service to both husband (living for 2 more mos.) & wife (apparition)? Though maid seems to admit death of the Mrs. Guess only Mr.Stitch and crew are to know.
Also noticed how Patricia always made it that the maid Annabelle never had to carry or eat/drink anything. Clever.

i thought it was a very good movie. The colour black and white makes things appear more suspenseful. The characters were credible and the tension was sufficient to create a good story. I didn't know what to expect after reading that it was your first feature film. An excellent movie. Totally loved it. Look forward to seeing more films from you.

I didn't realize, this is set in the past. I was wondering why, all the retro clothing, hairstyles, furniture, and appliances, were so old fashioned looking. Not 'till she read the gravestone, then I caught on. I also love that this, is shot in B&W. One thing, though. Why would her deceased sister, need to hang a sign, displaying where her own bathroom is🤔⁉️

Came across the rare gem and I'm honestly impressed!! I was leery with watching a black and white film but I'm glad I stuck to watching the whole thing! I felt the first fifteen minutes came off to a rocky start due to a exaggerated overacting but the the rest of the film was awesome! I'm also amazed that no one spotted by how Annabelle avoided touching anyone and anything in that house. I keep questioning evrything, coming up with new ghost theories for the entire film. And it. Is. Awesome!!! Could not predict anything in this film at all. Very well done!!!

Thank you for a fantastic movie, and for opening my narrow minded (American) eyes!

Loved the atmosphere, opening credits looked awesome. Well produced and the lead actress wasn't bad at all. The rest weren't as good, the plot was very cliched and predictable, but the story was told well for all that. Annabelle was suspicious from the start which made it easy to work out what she was. Looking forward to seeing how you develop as a storyteller and film-maker. Liked the little nod to the Green Man out by the front door too ;)

very well made for a private movie.
Great idea to film in black and white with the antique atmosphere.
But there are a few details that really look disturbingly out of place/time:
    1) plastic laundry basket - sure it's set around 1970's and plastic stuff aren't incommon then, like the radio etc. but making a victorian styled maid carry that thing really looks unacceptable
    2) the new york poster - much too modern for that time. And a poster of that size was not used for private matters back then
    3) the library was much too empty (lack of books and people) to be convincing
    4) the one ghost lady with the glases: that style of hers is with no doubt after 2000.
She seems so out of character she could have been a time traveler.
    5) no difference between the dead and the alive Victor. He's said to be from the 17th century, yet wearing typical 70's clothes all the time.
I really appreciate the tons of effort you and your crew put into to make this movie.
So that's why I also take my time to give you these constructive critics.
Hope it can be usefull to you and your future movies!
P.s.: the music has Hollywood potential!
