did a littel research on the Maleficant movie side, Stefan, the kingd, doesn't have the royal blood, the queen was the previous king's daughter, therefore the one with royal blood with the authority to banish the king.
Wait how are they banishing the king when he did exactly as he was supposed to do? He was given this task except he couldn't bring himself to kill Maleficent so he took her wings instead which while still aeful was far better than the alternative.
