      If I understood correctly, "hej" means "gay", doesn't it? Probably the "g" is written like "h" in Swedish, and the rest is pretty clear :-)

    Really nice film. You don't need to know Swedish because the message is universal. You only need to know the word "Hej", which in this case means "hi". The director is speaking the dialect of Skåne, the southernmost province in Sweden - across from Denmark, and home of my Swedish ancestors.

      +Nijda I have relatives in Sweden and visit during Christmas & every summer vacation (I live in California). This bullied guy is beautiful, no doubt. But guys that gorgeous are common in Sweden, all over the country. I've never seen anything like it. California is great, but go to Sweden or Norway for a vacation and you won't believe your eyes.

    • @Nijdaa
      @Nijdaa 8 років тому

      +Miura Mike Well I think I know where I'm going for a vacation. The landscape looks amazing as well, in photos I've seen.

    • @miuramike8310
      @miuramike8310 8 років тому +1

      +Nijda Absolutely go for a vacation! Unless you love cold weather, go in the summer. Summers are when tourists go, especially to the Stockholm area, but it's never crowded like Paris or London. Spring & fall are great, much cooler weather, but the crowds are gone. It's a very large, long country similar in size to California so there is much to see. Every region has it's own style & food, and Swedes LOVE to eat. Oddly, there are not many fat people (not like here in the US!) In summer the sun never sets fully because it's so far north, and in northern Sweden there is the midnight sun all summer. Yes, you can get a tan at night! Gays have full rights, you will see gays hand in hand sometimes. Few Swedes are religious, it's more important to them to be a decent person. Yes, there lots of beautiful men & women. Swedish men (gay & straight) do tend to be quiet & shy compared to Americans. You won't get hassled by men like you would in Italy or Greece, that's for sure! You might have to make the first move, but I've yet to meet a Swede that wasn't polite. One thing that's great: you don't have to speak Swedish! Everyone speaks more than just Swedish, and most speak perfect English....French, German, Italian, Spanish...Swedes get an excellent education and are great linguists. If you liked this movie "Hej" (it means "hello") and is pronounced "hey", there are lots of Swedish (and Scandinavian) tv show & movies with gay characters....or just gorgeous characters! No doubt you've seen "Girl With The Dragon Tattoo", which was also a 4 part movie in Sweden before the America version. VERY Swedish. One of my favorites is the tv series "Andra Avenyn" which means "Second Avenue". It was a drama that ran from 2007-10 and had gay characters & straight ones. The characters of Adam & Kim (a man's name in Sweden) were bi/gay and were played by 2 out gay actors. You can watch it here on youtube, just type in Andra Avenyn. Another one you can watch on youtube is "Lucky Blue" which has 2 VERY hot gay Swedish actors playing gay teens.

    • @Nijdaa
      @Nijdaa 8 років тому

      +Miura Mike It sounds really nice, definitely would go in the summer. Here in Australia 18 degrees Celsius is freezing, so I would barely be able to handle an environment with snow. I love how it seems so progressive as well, especially from what I've heard (and very recently heard) and the food would be a HUGE plus. Sweden is without a doubt, one of my top must-see destinations.

    I liked this movie, I had to piece together the implications buried in the plot in my head to make sense of the ending.

    Small bullying groups such as the one in this film are characterised by weak individuas who rely on the cohesion of the group in order to survive. The transfer their inadequacies as individuals onto an identified 'victim' as a deflection. It just takes one person in the group to break the pattern of bullying behaviour and to disengage, and as a consequence the group is disempowered. An excellent short film which serves to remind us just how miserable young gay lives can be when bullying inadequates are continually enabled by inaction on the part of others.
