How To Sew A Simple Knot Strap Bag: No-Pattern Sewing For Beginners!

  • Everyone loves a bag, and a sturdy tote that needs no pattern is a bonus for beginner stitchers. Made in practically any size you like, all you need is a strip of fabric that is about three times longer than it is wide. Hem the sides, knot the centre, and simply stitch into a bag shape. Make a little one to hold your phone on a night out, a tiny one for stowing dog treats and poo bags, a mid sized version for holding your knitting yarn on the go, or size up for the weekly grocery shop. This will be your new best bag!

    Thanks Corrine! I could make some of these from leftover fabric …I am into ECO bags! Thanks for the tip that length = 3 x width of fabric ..that is KEY info for making this bag. French seams and boxing the corners - very good 👍 tricks to making this more fray resistant and neater in carrying stuff with structural form.
    This is great for shopping the fabric bins with end pieces , at very economical prices. Hmmm … I think that’s what I will do and give some bags to neighbours for Easter. The world could do with more kindness and neighbourly love .
    Happy Easter Corrine !
    God Bless you ❤

    This is soooo cute. I have 6 grands coming over tomorrow and I think this is the perfect little project to have them make. I think I’ll try one on the serger for the side seams. Thanks for taking the time to show us something new yet simple. 😊

    I also love that I can use larger pieces of fabric and make bigger bags.
    I bought a dozen bolts of cotton fabrics because a shop near me was closing and I’m always looking for ideas on how to use them.

    So cute! Did you measure 1” to make the boxed corner? How do you know how big to make the box corner? Is there any kind of ratio?

    • @TheCraftsChannel
      @TheCraftsChannel  Рік тому +2

      You can make the box bottom to any measurement you like depending on whether you want a long, rectangular base or a squatter, squarer one. I usually just line the point up with the right side of my bobbin cover rather than measure it! c x
