      @catzee4720 That wasn’t what this was about. The primary defence lawyer was fairly savvy, and whether or not he respected the judge wouldn’t have mattered here. He had simply spotted that the judge was emotionally off guard for a moment, and was attempting to obtain an outburst which would have ruined the legitimacy of the trial. He nearly succeeded.

    I actually can see where the Defense is coming from on this one. It would only take three seconds for the judge to admonish the family members to refrain from making derogatory personal comments about the lawyers. Attacking a lawyer's family is not the purpose of a victim impact statement. Even if the lawyers are acting shady, the statements should remain focused on the shooter, the consequences of his actions, and the memory of the victims. Just my opinion.

      Exactly. This video frightens me to my core. She is behaving as though she's having an emotional argument with her partner in private. The attorney was so transparently demonstrating a point. Her reaction to having her children alluded to proved his point. Quite worrying indeed.

    • @Naeruve
      @Naeruve 2 роки тому +6

      @@Zerenko I think the reason she perceived it as a threat was because as she said, no one watching knows anything about her personally or her family. There's a lot of crazy people out there so if her children are brought up here by an attorney, now everyone watching knows she has children and it feels exposing and threatening. As if him bringing up her children was calculated to bring peoples attention to the fact that she has some, and putting that idea in people's heads of possibly hurting her family. Like a form of intimidating her if you will, kind of like mob bosses. These judges go through a lot of trouble lto keep their families separate and safe from their jobs because they have to deal with so many deranged individuals so it's kind of a known thing that you don't bring up their families in court to protect that anonimity. Especially not during a trial being streamed online and potentially being watched by a lot of people that differ with how she has handled the case. I think her reaction was big but not inappropriate given the context. I appreciate your opinion on it though.

      You don't need to be a feminist to think that tbh. People definitely think she's ditsy too because she is young and photogenic - like legally blonde lol.

    • @b-man-2H
      @b-man-2H 4 місяці тому +1

      Exactly, and I NEVER pull the race or gender card. But in this instance you have to suspect that a male judge would not be receiving all this pushback and argument. Yes, certain legal regulatory bodies deemed the judge to have acted inappropriately. But to be fair, she was PUSHED OVER AND OVER again regardless of how many times she said they were moving on the defense would not stop, almost to a contempt of court level. I would consider myself the opposite of a feminist, but even I have to agree that it is hard to imagine that a male judge would recieve this much disrespect and this much defiance when stating repeatedly that the proceedings are to move on. She received virtually no respect during this trial from the defense. In these highly publicized cases where it is an open-and-shut case, the defense often has to resort to thus type of nonsense to put in the appearance that they are engaging in some sort of defense. Granted, I know this was just a sentencing hearing, but it's just gaslighting to try to draw the focus to anything, ANYTHING besides the defendant ans the crime.
