  • I am not a DR. or an addictions professional. This video is my personal account of my experiences with drugs and alcohol, addiction and recovery in my own life only. Below the video, in the description box are some direct links to various free recovery programs that are most likely in your area. Everything in this video is from my own personal experiences and does not directly represent the views, opinions of any one of these programs, methods or treatments designed for relief or harm reduction from drug and alcohol addiction. I sincerely hope some of this helps someone in some way. Thank you all for your continued, unconditional love, support, patience and understanding. I am in no way, special or an authority on these subjects just an addict currently abstinent from drug and alcohol abuse. This video is not condemning drug or alcohol use of any kind and is not intended to recommend total abstinence or any other specific views, methods or opinions regarding recovery in any form. It is again ONLY my own personal experience, I know only a little. If you are in the middle of chaotic drug or alcohol abuse and do not wish to quit now or ever please check out some tips from the "Harm Reduction" community. harmreduction.org/ No matter what your decision or method there is help! Don't give up, stay safe, stay alive! Love You! Thank you again.

Thanks for the mini lead, brother Jason
Friend of Bill’s since January 28, 1999 here
    Alcohol was my deal
I remained completely “sober” until I was prescribed ssri for depression 15 years in, , then I became a zombie, so I dropped the meds and switched to cannabis , never looked back
    We are all different
    “Drugs” is a tricky term
    So is “addiction”
For a long long time I was completely addicted to being non addicted to anything....couldn’t really fully immerse in anything.....
I was addicted to politics... to the gym... to my own thoughts🤡
    “I don’t do drugs... I AM drugs”

Not only is Jason one of the greatest living harmonica players in the world today, he is the very best harmonica teacher and mentor for those who need to discuss, re-boot and address their own ability to play the harmonica on another level. After having made several attempts in the past to learn from other great players, even for just some of the simplest things and techniques like: what key to play in and what mic's and pedals to use that can enhance one's ability to play in a live situation, I found Jason to be patient, understanding and a great listener and interpreter of one's own harp playing experience...5 *****Stars...Looking forward to the next session!

Wow, you really got to me, Jason. Your message rings loud and clear for me. I am doing well with regard to booze, four years now, not a drop. I totally agree with you that it is easier to stay sober than to get sober. In spite of all the current crap going on around us or any past bugaboos in my life, I am not tempted in the least to drink again, ever. I coined my own phrase a few years back to remind me of how much better and more fulfulling life is without alcohol; "The solution [booze] ain't necessarily the answer." Thank you for reaching out to all of us, you make a lot of sense. Peace, my dear friend.

Brother Dave! You will be in my prayers my man! Bring shower shoes and lots of candy (gummy bears are the best!) 🤣! You can do this. Just do everything they say no matter how dumb it seems (and it will) JUST try it for a while in there and after. This is your LIFE, this is an OPPORTUNITY, an opportunity that could put you in a position to be of GREAT and powerful, seasoned and specialized service to others that will give you joy and purpose beyond your dreams. That's REAL! You didn't do anything you need to feel guilty for anymore if you use what happened as FUEL to help us all back. God Bless you David! You CAN do this! 💜

Hello Ricci, i saw the video and i am really relieved.
Im actually working in rehab and its tough. I see so many people destroy their lifes with drugs and many of my dear old friends are stuck with it, that im glad that our work really help people.
I know a lot of them that over 20 o 30 years, keeps falling under the influence of their own addicction.
It needs tons of will to stay sober, and
    that's something that society sometimes doesn't understand;
instead of helping or having tolerance, they punish something that cannot be controlled.
I hope you keep it up, not resorting to the path of instant satisfaction
and above all, do not be afraid to fall again.
The recovery process is not perfect, it's all a matter of trial and error
With each fall you get up a little stronger, never let yourself be defeated by a substance whatever its name is.
Lifting and fighting is the key to recovery, keep your loved ones close to you, listen to them because they want the best for you.
Realmente espero que puedas superar esto, ten paciencia, porque sentirás esa voz en la cabeza que no quiere esperar
You are strong, much stronger than you think yourself. If you've quit once, you've already done the worst step.
Just keep walking along the path that you have chosen for yourself, I believe that it is not only correct but the healthiest, the one with which you can feel fulfilled
Stay safe friend and never forget, you don't need any drugs to be happy
Love you man, and love your music, thank you for all the lessons you give us, not only in harmonica, but how to be better Person

Yeah buddy!! Just watched this while on my graveyard shift at a recovery center in north central Minnesota. Im a harp player and recovering alcoholic. This that you posted is really important. It means a helluva lot, and it obviously comes from the heart. We have a new client who is learning harmonica so i wrote down the harp tabs for the blues scale and will be teaching him to bend notes once he decides to get up early enough. Lazy harp player...ha.

It might work for Keith Richards and Lemmy, but it is catastrophic to my mental and physical wellbeing. It also, I feel, hampers my development as a musician. Great episode Jason. I recall when you stayed at my place on your journey through Tucson. My place at 93 Chula Vista.. I have mad respect for your musicianship and been following your since. Now I can addad respect doe having the guts to make thos video.
Good to hear your doing good! I actually work in rehab field now, interestingly enough.
Brother you were awesome when you stayed with us. And I would never give up that time. I'm grateful we met. And I would like to use this video in a class if that's cool with you? I think this would help inspire others.

Thanks Jason, this is good stuff this subject and hearing it from you. Why, because for me the harmonica is a sober thing. I started playing 5 years ago when I stopped drinking. About that time I first saw this Jason guy and his UA-cam lessons. Excellent material. Many thanks for those Jason.

@@jasonricci at rehab there is much talk about shame, necessary but sometimes too much, need a brake - harmonica! Mindfulness it is.

Kind of a bummer as i worshipped the gutter which led me to heroin addction as well. The interesting thing about this was forrver i had a really hard time admitting this to anyone but i knew deep down that i wanted to do it to be cool. Admitting this was extremely difficult early on. My first hurdle i guess.

I Thessalonians 5:8...let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation. 9 For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

You are tied to Johnny Winter in wikipedia. I was born and raised in Port Arthur and my dad played with Jerry LaCroix in the Boogie Kings. This may be iut of your wheel house but i am wondering if with your connection have you ever met any of the Piggot's? Musically super talented family and friends with the brothers. Anyway i am a new harp player and like you, an old man. Love your jams man and thank you.

Exactly, it's a fact that quitting booze not only makes your world a better place to be in, good things start to “magically” happen and the energy is insane! Steffon Barkload's Quit Drinking Forever, that’s the best shortcut I go’ogled that took less than a week to work without suffering withdrawal.

Great video Jason. Drugs are the worst part of music... In Poland we lost one of the best blues rock vocalist - Ryszard Riedel, because of heroin addiction. He died when he was almost 38 years old... He was singing in Band Dżem (eng. Jam) and they made a few songs about addiction and they are really emotional and sad...
I hope you will stay sober for ever bro and this video will help someone. I'm putting here 2 Dżem's songs about addiction.
