A (possible) free 40 CV to his entire kit is better than 20% FUA dmg.
If you already have it, then you can run it fine, but that new (dream) set is going to be absolutely ridiculous.

Do not I repeat*DO NOT* farm for his relics rn because in 2.0 two new relics set will release one was made for mei and the other one was made for him so use whatever you have on him rn if you don't wanna waste time and energy on other relics

i dont like him, i thought his follow up attack could happen any time when an enemy with debuffs is hit, hes kinda mid for me
I think my favorite things about ratio is when you first meet him he’s playing chess against himself like a sociopath and then you have to play the Phoenix wright game with him to advance the story lol.

it gets even better cause in the new sim universe mode theres a occurrence domain where you can pick help from him or some other character from the inteligensia guild. if you pick the other character, the texts that shows up says that the doctor k*lls himself out of frustration
Don't use the 4 piece follow up set, since it once procs once and gives 6%. You could go 4 piece imaginary set or 2 piece imaginary and follow up. I personally recommend not grinding the 4 piece of any now (unless you alr have a built set) because next patch there's a dedicated set for him and it has more value than imaginary set. For peeps who alr farmed the imaginary set, don't worry you can use it on your welt/dhil/future imaginary dps since it's still good on them.
Also another cracked set tailor made for Ruan mei coming out but tbh the thief set or messenger is still good so don't worry
There will be a new debuff set in 2.0
There will be a new relic set that is perfect for him in 2.0,it gives crit rate and crit damage per debuff on enemy,and it doubles the effect if the wearer applies a debuff himself,so yeah he will have a fricking busted set in 2.0

His best partner would be E1S1 Topaz. She gives 3 debuffs and buffs follow-up attacks. Ratio will also buffs Topaz by advancing numby everytime he do a follow-up.
Yes, E1S1 Topaz is his BiS partner. For those who don't have her, use Silver Wolf. Even at E0, she's a great and cheaper alternative. For f2p or 4-star options, go for Pela and Guinaifen.
Gotta love that Welt is starting to see more use now, he's great with Ruan Mei and Dr. Ratio. Welt was never bad, he just needed some units to synergize with.
He had been my main since launch and he deals more dmg than my seele 💀. Yeah I'm happy about that too

For Yukong, I'm gonna doing probably 2 piece Wuthering & 2 piece Imaginary. For Welt, I'm thinking of doing 2 piece Imaginary & 2 piece musketeer. For Luocha, 2 piece musketeer & 2 piece Passerby. For Dr. Ratio, I'm gonna aim for 2 piece Grand Duke & 2 piece imaginary.
For planar sets:
Dr. Ratio = Inert Salsotto
Yukong = Penacony
Luocha = Fleet/Keel
Welt = Space Sealing Station

I went in with a Clara and Topaz team and you can literally proc 5 follow up attacks on an enemy before they get a chance to attack. It’s insane single target damage. The problem is actually finding enemies with enough ho to tank so you can see them all or Ratio just stops because they died.
Regarding the Grand Duke set, you should only use the 2 piece, as Dr Ratio deals one instance of damage per FUA, so he only gets 6% attack bonus from the 4 piece. The buff only stacks if the damage is dealt on the same FUA.
In 2.0 he will have a better set to work with (Busted one btw)

He is insane with topaz and hanya they take so many turns
I used him with :
- ruan mei(no sig lc)(E0)
- topaz (with sig)(E0)
- fu xuan(no sig)(E0)
and i hit 120k+ dmg ult
and 60/70 k dmg follow ups 2 in a row with numby attacks
He is fun to use imo and i will finally get use of my topaz with sig lc.
His build was honestly so bad and I was still getting around 50k dmg with my e0s0 topaz, pela and Fu Xuan on a single follow up. Can't believe he is free
I tested him with Topaz.. even with low default CrtDmg CrtRate of Trial Ratio, he still hits around 20k+ and followup with 30k+.. so he will put out more damage if we give him good relics with 70% CrtRate and 180% CrtDmg, thats an acceptable damage for DPS. I already farmed 2 followup and 2 Imaginary set, which will get him to that Crit stats.
I used: Topaz, Dr Ratio, SW, FuXuan

4:12 Unfortunately, Wiseman's Folly does not count as a debuff, it is regarded as "Other Effects". You can even see that on the debuff counter, it won't count as a debuff on an enemy.
Edit: Also, the 4 pc effect of The Ashblazing Grand Duke isn't good for him because his follow-up attack hits only one time, and the amount of stacks reset each time it gets used, so he will only be able to get 1 stack, so it is better to use 2 pc Ashblazing Grand Duke with 2 pc Wastelander of Banditry Desert.

I've had alot of fun trying him out in that quest and he pairs really good with Guinafen from the get go.
Honestly, at this point u can easily make team of follow up characters and it will actually work out pretty well!

I started HSR a bit over a week ago, so far I only have 2 5 star characters beside the MC. The free Dr. Ratio is going to be amazing for me - especially because I accidentally got Silver Wolf in my first ten pull while trying to snipe Hanya. I wasn't sure what to do with her until I read how Dr. Ratio works, and that SW is going to be great for him - so hey, I guess it all works out in the end! :D
I plan to put Ratio + SW + Tingyun + Sustain in a team. And then maybe I can build another one for DHIL with Hanya + Sustain and maybe Yukong, or someone else. Either way, the free Dr. Ratio comes in clutch, since I'll be saving for a DHIL rerun and only pull for Loucha or Hanabi - if I have enough warps to 100% secure my IL, that is. That leaves me with not many 5 stars, except our favourite narcissist. 😂 Huge W, I'm so glad that I started now!
Other big advantage with Ratio is that if you're like me you may not have a Img DPS unit right now (only Img characters I have are Luocha and Yukong and I only use the former of the two...I'm ~25 pulls from the 300 character selector on the Standard banner so I could pick up Welt there If I wanted to or go for Bronya who I also don't have (only standard characters I have are Gepard and Clara)...both are good but between the 2 Welt was the standard character I wanted most so will probably pick him so I'll be waiting until I lose a 50/50 or get lucky in the Standard 5* pulls (most of them have been Light cones though)) he will definitely be a big plus to your account against Img weak enemies (Swarm Disaster for example all bugs are weak to Img and Quant no matter what if you haven't finished that).
He's at least an actual useful 5* unit unlike Alloy (3* tbh) from Genshin.
i think a e1 topaz with her lightcone places 3 debuffs on the target herself (buffing follow up attacks) and crit damage.. that helps for sure :D

Yea after the trial I was so excited to get him he seems cracked. I killed enemy with his skill and his follow up attack hit another enemy it was kinda cool.
Can't wait for Topaz's rerun, since if I grab E1 for my E0S1 Topaz, my Topaz can fulfill all 3 of his mandatory debuffing needs all on her own, allowing me to place my Guinaifen/Pela/Silver Wolf on other teams, and instead sub in someone like Asta or Ruan Mei for the final non-sustain team slot.
Ratio wasn't a unit I was gonna necessarily pull for previously (other upcoming units just were more desirable for my account, so I needed to save during his banner), but now that I'm getting him I am gonna abuse the heck out of his kit.
I might try to go for her e4. Sadly lost the 50/50 to gepard...
Glad you found him useful i was using him wrong he was weaker then Welt and even Serval, i gave up and restarted with Kafka and Sampo making Dr. Ratio build SP.

If you have e1s1 topaz, she gives all the necessary debuffs for ratio to stack on and you can use more useful characters in team
I see Ratio’s best team as Dr.Ratio, Fuxuang, Ruan Mei and e1s1 Topaz. Follow-up attacks overload🔥

When I tested him out I used Ruan Mei and Sampo and was kinda surprised to see the damage be pretty solid so maybe he could work with Kafka and the dot character's since they'll increase the chance if his follow up attack to happen when you use the skill and get the increase crit stats but I imagine the team wouldn't be skill point friendly depending on the characters.
For anyone planning Dr. Ratio's build, please use the imaginary set. The follow up atk relic only works with characters that deal multiple instances of dmg PER FOLLOW UP.
This means Herta, Jing Yuan, Topaz...
Characters like Ratio and Clara don't work because they deal only one tick of damage, meaning they only get 1 stack of atk bonus
With the newly realized power of break effect, I think the team I will be running is Dr. Ratio, Topaz, Break Welt, and Ruan Mei, just don’t give the enemy a turn. And with break Welt it will enable 4 pc wastelander (the imaginary set) with insane imprison uptime
Now I just gotta rebuild my Welt and farm the imaginary set. If all else fails I’ll chuck in Fu Xuan instead and different relics
Btw the crit rate and cdamage bonus from his passive is permanent (like argenti) for the duration of battle so u don't need 6 debuffs everytime just 3 is enpugh to guarantee a follow up attack on his skill (he applies 1 so just 2 more is enough) pela, welt, ruan mei, topaz would all work fine with him
We are getting a new set for Dr ratio, it gives little less crit stats but gives extra damage boost to debuffed enemies.
The problem with stellar sea is it doesnt give anything else beside crit + the bonus crit/atk is conditional which is not good and ratio has a ton of crit bonuses u dnt need crit anymore
CRIT BONUSES:
15% from passive
12% from traces
10% (if u run him with 4pc imaginary, really with debuffs)
8% ( if u run him with 4pc inert salsotto planar)
45%crit in total + if u want fuxuan with him thats 57%crit total. Swordplay s5 is his best in slot 4* LC and his sig LC is op which gives him ton of crit dmg and def ignore which is perfect bec u dnt need crit on him anymore. Sleeping like the dead or topaz LC is kinda good on him but not great if u compare to the other two.
I’m really excited to play him honestly. I think on my acc I’ll be using him with Ruan Mei and Pela. I do have the free standard banner 5 star coming up soon, and I’m trying to decide if I want Bronya or Welt. Bronya is probably better for my overall teams, but… I do love Welt…
My Topaz is waiting for him patiently 😊.

nobody should go 4pc ashblazing because the 6% ATK bonus RESETS every time he does a follow-up, it DOES NOT stack, the way it works is every time the follow-up attack by itself does damage (ej: topaz's follow-up does 6-8 instances of damage in one attack or something close to that, Dr. Ratio's follow-up only does one instance of damage per attack) so you're effectively only getting 6% ATK bonus Maximum
if you have welt go 4pc wastelander, if you don't, go 2pc wastelander 2pc ashblazing or 4pc wastelander if it has better stats.

Ruan Mei's flower effect counts as a debuff, btw, so Topaz, Ratio, and Ruan Mei should work fine

I just started playing a couple weeks ago and got Welt from the departure banner. Yesterday I got Ruan Mei from a random free pull. Now I get Dr. Ratio for free and Mtashed is saying he has synergy with both of them?? I feel blessed!

The Grand Duke set doesn't work with ratio because his followups only do 1 hit. It snapshots that 1 hit and increases his next followup by a measily 6% attack and consumes that snapshot.

So glad I have Welt and Silver Wolf. Throw in Lynx for heals and +1 quantum for Silver Wolf debuff and it's going to pop off.

Yeah I played him with a generic hypercarry setup not even maximizing the debuffs and he was doing huge slaps with his follow up on a pretty bad started build. I think his damage will be wild
so can you do the quest repeatedly and try him with multiple teams? or is it a one shot and you have to fail the quest to repeat?

A new relics cavern is leaked for 2.0 that scales dmg based on debuffs on enemies, a perfect fit for him.
So don’t min/max these relics right now!!!

Ive seen calcs and his lightcone is somewhere from a 12-20% damage increase, since I don’t want Kafka I’m probably gonna go for it

Just look at any topaz build and do the same. The only trouble is that Ratio must be in certain packs (Kafka) in order to work 100% effectively. But I’m happy, since I only have imaginary damage from velt, and I only have quantum damage from silver wolf.
Even if he was bad he is still free. Gotta appreciate that. Probably won’t use him but he looks pretty cool
I think bronya is p good on him cuz he did a lot of follow up attack which would not count as a turn so he can take advantage of bronya ult buffs more

Lmao, it feels like this guy knew exactly what team I was going to make for this character. I pulled Ruan Mei, I have an E1 Welt that I was about to give the Luka lightcone (S2) and E1 Fu Xuan as sustain. My Fu Xuan might as well be a harmony character as well with that +12% crit rate boost and +30% crit damage
I played him in a triple DPS Team and that Team was so fun to use:
Blade / Ruan Mei / Topaz / Dr Ratio
I've had it in my mind to pair all the imaginary boys on a team so it would be fun to see them with a support/sweeper that can give more debuffs.

Was watching this while playing honkai. I did a standard pull and was close to pity (69), on my 70th pull I got welt…. . Now I have him E1 to pair with Ratio. Talk about timing
You don't need her sure, like any other character, but she probably is going to be one of the highest dps team comps. Also 2 piece follow up is good, but not the 4 piece since his follow up only hits once.
Also in everyone's dream relic coming soon there is a Follow up set.

5:37 I'm pretty sure If the enemy with wiseman folly dies too fast he instead follow up attacks a different enemy.
Since his ult guarantees his follow up attack and his talent gives him a chance to do follow up attack on debuffed enemies that should mean if you have other debuffed enemies nearby his follow up goes to them instead. At least that's how it felt when I played with him.
Am I puffing hopium someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Edit: I watched Braxophone's video on him and he actually confirmed this to be the case, his ult does not go to waste if you kill an enemy too fast, also Swordplay is probably not an ideal LC for him unless you're guaranteed to fight a single enemy only.
i thought about a dual dps team with: Topaz, Dr.Ratio, ruan mei and pela, is it good or should i replace pela with someone else? i dont have welt yet

Welt is a great partner for Dr. Ratio especially if you have the pearls of sweat LC, but if you have other units who can provide debuffs like SW, Pela or DOT units you can hold off on building Welt. I have Welt already built but haven't used him since early game and now I am super excited to use him with Dr. Ratio. While Welt's damage is not bad he is not a proper dps (unless heavily invested into and buffed), so if you are looking for a dps Welt is not the best choice.

Thank god he is free. Cuz I really love all follow-up attackers. I wanted all stellaron hunters, but after seeing him with follow-up attack and a tower I was sliced in half. But, luckily, he is free, and I am free from this choice and got Blade. My team I used was Topaz, Huohuo and I believe Pela. If I had an actually built Pela and not random pieces with 1700 hp and 400 def with break effect rope, I think I would have done better at that fights in quest. But idk who I will use. Maybe Silverwolf will work better. Actually, no, Wolf will be better cuz she can inflict 4 debuffs at 1 target. So, I am gonna crack.
Topaz S1 can apply 3 debuffs (Proof of debt and two satcks of her crit damage taken debuff since multiple stacks of a debuff still count) on her own. I've been toying with Plea+Ratio+Topaz which will more than cover the debuffs needed to max out his damage
unfortunately, Clara's mark of counter does NOT count as a debuff which makes me sad

@dplayer2693 yeah bronya definitely a win still. I just got my first one yesterday from finally hitting the selector. I think Topaz isn't needed for sure but as a Topaz main I would say save for her just because I like her lol
I argue against people who say DON'T prefarm relics for Dr. Ratio. Yes, he will get a dedicated set next patch, but most 4 piece sets are a minimal increase, especially when taking in to account substat differences from farming existing sets vs sets released and farmed Day 1.
The follow up/DOT set is valuable to farm, not for the 4 piece set from follow up bonus (it triggers per follow up hit in a single action and refreshes/does not stack past that action), but because 2 piece follow up and 2 piece prisoners will still be really good on him.
Dr. Ratio gains a lot of Crit and Damage % from his baseline kit, the attack % is still competitive, especially with how trailblaze power efficient farming that corrosion is. Unless your also farming for Ruan Mei, the new cavern of corrosion will be hell to farm.
The follow-up set shouldn't actually be very good with him, because that set wants you to do multi-hit follow-ups, like Numby or the Lightning Lord. His FUA only hits the once, so he only gets one stack per FUA, and then the stacks reset on his next FUA. Better off doing a 2-piece FUA, 2-piece Imaginary or Attack%.
I've already got a decent amount of Hunt mats waiting, but I need to figure out what LC I'm going to give him. I could use the Herta Shop LC, or I also have Yanqing's. For the moment, my focus is on building up Ruan Mei and my other Harmony characters, and potentially Clara. Or pulling Blade, who is very tempting right now.
What are the pre requirements to get him? Like do i have to do any quests or events?
