i appreciate the Watcher cuz shane is actually a true skeptic (in philosophy of skepticism terms), and not just some dude who doesn't believe in ghosts for some unclear emotional reason, who's there to be made to look stupid by con men selling us bullshit for money. and while ryan is a fairly predictable conspiracy susceptible individual who just believes whatever tf he wants irrespective of evidence or justification, i appreciate that the show doesn't give his unjustified, nonsensical assumptions about the nature of reality extra credence that they don't deserve.
cuz that's what makes most "ghost hunting" stuff fundamentally unwatchable for me. if you're ignoring a dozen alternative plausible explanations for something just so you can believe in ghosts or gods or horoscopes or whatever, then frankly, you don't deserve to have your ideas taken seriously, because you haven't thought it through honestly. an opinion needs to be plausible for it to be definitionally an "opinion". if your take on something isn't fully informed and logically justifiable to the point of reasonable plausibility, that's not actually an opinion. it's just a guess. and acknowledging the epistemological reality of the supernatural as unfalsifiable wishwork is a rare thing to find in this genre of entertainment, and its something that's sorely needed throughout western civilization. 1000 years of forced conversions to various unfalsifiable belief systems weighs heavily on our daily lives, especially now. And it needs to stop before we literally all die because of it, and holding up skeptics as admirable people is a good way to do it.
Their dynamic was the best in the buzzfeed unsolved stuff that I watched. I normally hate ghost hunting stuff because exactly what you said, but Shane and Ryan made it fun and also interesting. You got to see the history of these old places and some funny parts too

essentially every problem we face a civilization descends from people confusing what they believe with what they know and can prove. if that sounds like ego to you, please don't ever vote.

I feel like Analog Horror tries so hard to be realistic yet they can't help but make it cinematic it just kills the whole vibe that is originally set. Like I can't take it seriously when scenes are directed like it's a movie and it does the silly cliché of video/audio cutting out to booming loud white noise, smh videotapes don't do that.

It's called suspension of disbelief. If you can not do that, do not watch it instead of complaining, please.
Also if you go through the entire Greylock series in particular these distortions have clear intention behind them. They are heavily implied to be directly caused by the supernatural entities showcased in the series, and are used in multiple instances to hint at when the audience is being fed information that is either incorrect or a lie.
