Sounds a bit like Alan Hovhaness and Philip Glass mixed together at times. It has the spiritualism of Hovhaness (and his bells and chimes) plus the minimalism of Glass. And actually, I preferred to the orchestral playing before the cello.
I am sorry but I find the orchestra far too heavy - although I love this concerto. I recommend Geringas' version, with the Riga Philharmonic orchestra conducted by Jonas Aleksa. This is a bit unfair for Barta, the cellist, who has a wonderful "voice", but the orchestra is simply not up to the challenge. Shame.....
I hadn't heard this concerto before. It's just what a person of Baltic heritage needs. Very nicely played and recorded. Thank you.
Just discovered this composer and got totally move3d by this cello concerto! what incredible emotion.
Magical music, beautiful, beautiful, enchanting .... Thanks for the post.
love this guys music!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the most great composers ever.
Beautifully played!
So beautiful, and so in front of reality life...

I am envious of the sensitivity of your ear !
@@MKTElM I think this has more to do with the recording quality than the sensitivity of someone's ear.
Well I don't think it beats the Shostakovich 'cello con. Or Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasileiras #5.
