    Great video! You have produced the only video on UA-cam that shows the correct way to iron a man’s shirt. I am a large man, 6’ 3” and 245 lbs. I wear a 2XLT or 20” neck / 37” arm shirt.
    I have always done my ironing because I believe in equality, and my wife and I raised five children. It is better to be married to your best friend than your slave! I like to invest in good equipment because it makes the task easier. I presently use a Reliable 320LB 2-IN-1 Premium Home Ironing Board, Rowenta DG8624U1 Perfect Pro Station iron, and a Rockler Dust Right® Cord Holder.
    I like the Reliable ironing board because it is 19” X 55” and has a square end on both sides. Men’s shirts and pants do not need the narrow point of a normal ironing board. My shirts, when laid flat, measure 33” from armpit to armpit. Big men need a wide and long board to iron their clothes on, and this board works great. I also like the constant strong steam from the Rowenta Perfect Pro Station iron. It shortens the time needed to iron my clothes. I have to fill a regular Rowenta several times when ironing to cover the vast expanse of cloth used to cover my monster-sized body. Another great invention that has been around for a hundred years is a cord holder. It keeps the cord up and out of the way, allowing you to move quickly through your ironing. Without it, I end up cursing a lot as the cord is continuously catching on everything around me. The heavy-duty Rockler does a great job. It is built for woodworking tables, but because it is sturdy, it outperforms many of the cheap cord holders made for ironing. I don’t use starch, and I have to admit I am not always trying to do a perfect job. Still, my shirts always look good. Thanks for showing the world how to iron a man’s shirt properly.

      Hi Dean, Thank you for the very kind words! I have a few good men that I admire for their ironing skills - you included! I'm checking out the Rockler cord holder as well because I'm always getting mine caught up on the cabinetry. It will be nice to finally take care of that problem once and for all. I'll send a note off to Rockler and let them know that their product isn't just for woodworking. They'll LOVE it! I also use a Rowenta pro but am checking into your model to get the specs. Can one really have too many irons?! In case you're interested, I have a video of tips and tricks to help you out here: reneeromeo.com/2017/05/03/ironing-tips-tricks-and-guidelines/

    • @ReneeRomeo
      @ReneeRomeo  5 років тому +1

      Michael, Great question! While I would say to test an inconspicuous area of the shirt first (like the back tail), it's been my experience with modern irons that they're anti-scortch. I think essentially what that means is that they run cooler than we think. You should be fine with your shirt. Check out my review of my Rowenta iron to see what I mean :

    Why use starch. Have never used it

    • @ReneeRomeo
      @ReneeRomeo  5 років тому +5

      Dusty Rhodes, Starch gives the fabric a stiffness and crispness that you can't get with steam alone. It helps the fabric resist wrinkles while wearing the shirt and acts very much like sizing that is present on the shirt directly from the factory. The sizing gets washed out the very first time you wash the garment. Starch gives you that "brand new" look - even when you use it on old shirts, linens, etc.. You will notice a big difference in your woven fabrics (not for use on knits) when you use spray starch and then iron them. It's really the secret to ironing a great looking dress shirt. You'll become a believer! Renee
