Hello Amber. I am so glad that you are reaching out to others to go to food banks and not to be ashamed. Now a days, everyone needs help with getting groceries because the cost of food is getting outrageous. Even if people get food stamps, it's usually not enough to last the month. I praise you for coming on here and helping others to find out where to go in their area.
I'm so glad that my videos can help others feel less alone and more confident in accessing these services. I will do my best to spread the word about food insecurity and the availability of food pantries. I agree the cost of food is getting outrageous, and I believe that as a human we all deserve to eat. The food pantry has been a wonderful God send to my family and has allowed me to not only supplement my family but help two other households as well.
I just did stuffed poblanos…. So good! Cut in half remove seeds, and stuff with a cream cheese sausage mixture and bake so yummy! Just cook up some ground sausage and stir in cream cheese and stuff. Bake at 350* till bubbly.
I would make a breakfast casserole with layers of hash browns, cheese, ham sliced bread and egg and milk mixture. I do precook the hash browns so they are crispy and can hold up better. If your family likes it, you could add a layer of sautéed onions and peppers too.
I would roast up the tomatoes, green peppers and the kale. You can add onions, garlic, and Italian spices too. Put it in the blender and blend it up. Tomato soup! Yum 🍅 Great haul ❤
I'm always amazed at the wonderful items you receive from your food bank. I'm going to one in the morning. Years ago my friend was talking about green spaghetti. I'd not heard of it before. The next day, I was so surprised that she had brought some for me to try. Oh me my it was delicious!!! She gave me her recipe, but I'm not sure where it is at this time. It may have gotten lost when I moved. It's very simple. No meat. Cooked spaghetti w a green sauce. I really enjoy watching your videos and alwaysblook forward to the next one. From Cheryl in MS - take care, stay safe, stay warm, love and God bless
Thank you, we really are blessed to receive the food items that we do. It is always like Christmas morning, never knowing what we are going to get but always knowing it is going to be wonderful. I am so ready to try green spaghetti. I am going to talk to a lovely Hispanic lady I know at work and see if she will share the recipe with me. I hope you receive some awesome blessings from your food pantry this morning. Thank you
For the hot honey ham use for sliders with cheese. Melt about a half a stick butter and add garlic and onion powder and add to top of slider buns. I also add some parsley to mine for some color. I bake mine in 9x13 sprayed pan . I bake mine 350 covered 15 mins and uncovered the last 5 minutes of baking. Yummy ! These are great with Hawaiian Rolls.
Thank you, I need to do some sliders, I typically use roast beef for sliders but I also will not waste this hot honey ham and I think your recipe for sliders will be amazing. Maybe I will do some for lunch on Saturday!!!! Thank you.
We got the cucumbers here in AZ too. I peel and slice as a dinner side with ranch or another dressing for dipping. Also good as the crunch on a sandwich, wrap, or diced into tuna salad. Somewhere I read they were good for you, so I use them alot...lol
Daaannng, I wish I could have 10 of those cucumbers haha You are very fortunate to receive such plentiful produce 💚 I know you appreciate and use everything you get
If you were close enough I would be more than happy to share with you!!!! I am very fortunate to receive the produce we do. I love when I share with others and tell them where it came from they then start to ask about the food pantry and then next thing I know they are going to it. I love sharing and helping others.
Yes give the fish to someone who likes it. That is not my house. Blue nails are not too girly and go nicely with your sweater. Wish we had a weekly pantry ours is monthly. Hugs to all of you. Stay safe and keep warm in this very cold weather.
Thank you, It is so much better than it going to waste. I have a huge motto that I live by "Waste Not, Want Not" and so I cannot bring myself to let the fish be wasted. I was so happy when my mom said that her neighbor not only loved fish but was also talking about being food insecure so I am now able to pass the fish on to someone that will use it and needs it. It's a win in my books. I hope you get some wonderful stuff at your pantry. Have you looked to see what other small ones may be available to you. I am doing my best to stay warm. I hope you stay safe and warm as well.
Add that ham into a mixed up scrambled eggs, cheese, onion, bell, if you do sliced carrots, cauliflower, broccoli then boil for a little with flavor and butter just tell light crunch then drain then dump into egg's. As another do up chilli and toss onto a Hotdog or a potato. So yummy enjoy that ham. Ham rolls with cream cheese flavor and flour tortillas then roll cut in half give to hubby for lunch.
Thank you!!! Those are such great ideas!!! I am going to start getting creative with the ham!!!, I could use the chili on hotdogs or a potato, thank you!!! Ham rolls sound delish. it would give him something different that he could still eat while driving.
You can peel and cube the beets and use in a sheet pan meal. They caramelize and get sweet and delicious! I also make a taco dip with canned chili/no beans. Cream cheese on the bottom, chili, salsa and some kind of shredded cheese on top. Heat it in the microwave and it’s delicious. I have no idea what to do with the ham. Lol.
Thank you, I am going to do that, I love beets and have always eaten them pickled but want to use these in other ways, so I think I will be making a sheet pan of roasted veggies to go with dinner one night. Thank you. Ohhh taco dip would be great with the chili. thank you.
I have heard that some only go to a monthly food pantry, we also have several that are once a month but we have quite a few that are weekly. Many people don't know that there may be more food pantries available for them to go to. Have you looked to see what other ones are around you?
Those are all wonderful ideas!!! Thank you. I didn't even think of using it with breakfast, and i'm positive they would enjoy it in some mac and cheese. thank you for the wonderful ideas, I am going to try using some in potato soup as well. I bet that would be tasty.
You can thinly slice the cucumbers add whatever seasonings you want to and dehydrate them and make them into cucumber chips. I've used ranch seasoning, lemon pepper seasoning and dill
What..... I would have never thought to turn cucumbers into chips.... thank you, Now I will be loading up my dehydrator with cucumbers to make some yummy healthy chips. THANK YOU.... you are the MVP
Friend your nails look cute. I make breakfast burritos I freeze them and hubs puts in ice box night before. I use ham in burritos. Any kind of cheese I have hubs likes jalapeños too. Chicken cordon blu casserole uses ham. It is good.
Ohhhh I could use some of the ham in breakfast burritos. That is a wonderful idea to make them in advance and freeze them. We all could benefit from having them pre made, just put it into the fridge the night before and microwave the morning of. thank you so much.... ohhhh chicken cordon blu is so tasty.. but as a casserole is probably even easier. thank you that may just happen in the near future with some of this ham. thank you for the wonderful ideas.
So far they don't, I am trying to get them to go, I know they would benefit greatly from a pantry so I have been looking to see what is around them as they are in a different county than I am in. I know for many people it is hard to start going as they feel judged but i am working on it.
You can use the hot ham and some cheese to make stuffed chicken breasts. Like a take on cordon blue. Or put it in omelettes. Ham and eggs are always good.
Thank you, such great ideas. This is why I love y'all. Always have the best ideas for how to use some things that for some reason I just can't think of how to use it up. I now want to make some stuffed chicken. mmmm
Saute kale with onion& bacon is sooooo yummy. I know green salsa is good with chicken taco or chicken enchilada . But never heard of green pasta sauce.
That is what someone else suggested was to use the chili no beans on hotdogs and so now I am thinking that is what I will keep it for. Such a great idea that I just didn't even think about. I have tried fish so many different ways and it's just not for me. I do like canned tuna though which is very weird as many I know like fish but can't stand canned tuna.
Why didn't I think of this, something so simple yet I didn't even think to use it in eggs or with gravy, I think it would be wonderful in some beans. thank you.
With the ham you can do ham and cheese sliders. I use buns or rolls which ever I have and make a glazed with butter, brown sugar, ground mustard and worcershire sauce then heat in the oven about 30 minutes. My husband who has Parkinsons loves them
I have shared a couple packs of the hot honey ham with her and she isn't a huge fan of it. She said it was a little too hot for her. So she passed it on to her neighbor which is fine as I share with them both. Thank you
That is another great idea, thank you for that. I do have some small packs of bean soup mix. I may make some and add some ham in it. I'm sure it would be very tasty.
The squirt soda is a grapefruit based soda made by Dr. Pepper, it's good. I would dice up that ham and cook some in a pot of beans, throw some in a skillet of fried potatoes and onions and usisome on hot sliders.
hmmm, that is interesting, I have never had Squirt but the girls were very excited to see it in the fridge and they split one for dinner. I am now going to be making some beans and adding ham, I could add them to fried potatoes and onions, and some sliders of course, thank you for your wonderful ideas.
How do you use up the canned fruit mix? I have a few and all I can think of is to put it in jello..... 🤷♀️🙃 I'd make ham egg and cheese biscuit sandwiches with the hot honey ham. 🍯
I will add it to jello, use it with yogurt, oatmeal but mostly I always keep a can of it in the fridge to stay cold and then I will open it up and have it along side our dinners, I never share that on the what we eat in a week video as it always just makes it way to the table. We typically always have some sort of canned fruit with dinner. I grew up having canned fruit on the table with every dinner we ever ate.
The fish was frozen. She could throw it on the floor, swing the bag around, and still probably wouldn’t hurt it. Her touching it isn’t going to do anything to that fish.

Thank you, it was a very cold afternoon but I stayed nice and warm at the food pantry!
I would make a breakfast casserole with layers of hash browns, cheese, ham sliced bread and egg and milk mixture. I do precook the hash browns so they are crispy and can hold up better. If your family likes it, you could add a layer of sautéed onions and peppers too.
That is a wonderful idea, sounds delicious, I like the idea of precooking the hash browns so they are crispy... Thank you so much for that.

You could make a chicken cordon bleu casserole with the ham
Oh.... why didn't I think of that, see this is why I asked all of y'all for your ideas. sounds delish.
Put the ham in potato soup and the kale in zuppa tuscano soup. I use cauliflower instead of potatoes often because of my diabetes.
Yes, that is great ideas, I used to use cauliflower a lot more often. It is a wonderful substitute for potatoes.
Does your mom and the neighbor across from her use any pantries near them?
So far they don't, I am trying to get them to go, I know they would benefit greatly from a pantry so I have been looking to see what is around them as they are in a different county than I am in. I know for many people it is hard to start going as they feel judged but i am working on it.

Hey Amber, use the kale in Swamp Soup.
Never heard of Swamp Soup, now I will be looking that up. Thank you.
Why are you mauling the fish? You gotta keep sticking your fingers in it why?
Same thing I was thinking. Just so ruff with it.
The fish was frozen. She could throw it on the floor, swing the bag around, and still probably wouldn’t hurt it. Her touching it isn’t going to do anything to that fish.
I promise you the fish is ok, it is frozen solid like a concrete brick lol.
