It's definitely a very unfinished version of the Warthog run, I feel that it was less "This isn't fun so we should cut it" and more "This would take too much time to make fun, and we have to ship this in 5 days." Something that definitely plagued a lot of Halo 2. Still really cool to see TVV bring it back.
I always wondered as a kid why Halo 2 was the only one of the trilogy to not have a driving sequence at the end... now I am happy they didn't include it.

I wish they delayed Halo 2 a year so Bungie could complete the game they wanted to make, and ship it as the flagship with the launch of Xbox 360 in 2005.
I would love to see a short video with the flying skull where you go check out what this all looks like without the use of a mod, to see if there's any differences. That woulda been really interesting to include here

i wouldn't say it was cut from the game as much as it was an unused asset. for me cut means that it was taken out of all potential levels even if its still coded into the game, but in THIS case its still in the level, it can still be seen. but that's just me personally and im a moron so really what do i even know right? also my dude were you cold or something during this? a sweater/hoodie under what looks like a pretty beefy jacket looks like a heatstroke in the making.
Perhaps the original render engine had a different marker for "don't load this" than the remaster used. Different things do and don't appear in one or the other.
