@MiracleMAX
You have to agree, that when you are trying to diagnose a problem vehicle, intermittent faults are the worst. Comes and goes, comes and goes......
Sometimes, the fault will only show its ugly head under certain conditions and that can take time.
In this case, this intermittent power window fault on a Hyundai ix35 2015, plays up fairly regularly. Finding this fault is done by using a methodical, step by step process.

The best video on youtube from A-Z.
Thank you very much 👏
Wow, thank you! There are lots more to choose from. Help yourself! 😊
I wish all mechanics were this keen on fixing somthing so simple (once access to the problem) . good stuff guy.
Thanks G33. This wasn't that difficult to do once the diagnosis had been made.
Thanks Max, you helped this absolute amateur fix two window switches and probably save a couple hundred dollars. Cheers
Glad it helped! 👍😊
Well done mate, replaced about 10-15 of those Hyundai window switches over the last 2 years.
I never seen them pulled apart like that though and successfully fixed, I stripped down a Rover 75 switch cleaned up and put back with no luck and that was my first/last ever attempt 🤣 🤣
Well done great job, you have made me consider trying again 👍
Yeah, the actual repair wasn't that hard. I have done quite a few successful repairs like this. It all depends on the cost of parts and the time to repair the component.
Thanks for your comment. 😉
I did
Thanks Max. This has been an issue on my 2012 IX35 for years. I was told to replace the motors as the contacts were too worn out.
It took me an hour or two to do 2 windows.
You saved me a ton of cash.
Glad I could help 🤗
Max, you are a legend. Thankyou! Followed along and got my windows fixed in no time. Service centre wanted to charge $700. Super grateful you took the time to make this video. Cheers
Glad the video helped. Congrats on your repair! 😉
Many thanks for this, same model with the same faulty passenger switches widows as you had. Now all working
Glad it helped
Well done Max. These switches are a common fail on this model. While the switch itself can be easily replaced, it's your diagnostic skills and experience that are not replaceable. Something to add might be to clean a protect the window jams with a silicone based lubricant so that the windows slide up a down with minimal friction and stress on the motor In the door panel. Thank you for the fix and the video's cheers Gary 🇦🇺
Thanks Gary,
That's a great comment. It does help to get rid of any contaminates and give it a good spray of a residue-less silicon to help everything slide just that little better! 😁
I have no knowledge of this and you helped me save two switches' money.
Glad the video was helpful
The windows on the passenger side of my Tucson have been acting up and now don't roll down. I just might try cleaning up the switches now thanks to this video!
I hope the video helps.
It's best to carry out testing first, otherwise, you might pull it all apart for nothing. That being said, it is a common fault.
Thanks for subscribing 😉
Thanks for this - stuck with a car with window down, now all sorted. Great fix!
Hey Richard,
That's great news! Glad the video helped.
Thanks a lot just fixed my passenger window by following the steps on your video
Glad it helped 😉
Mate can't thank you enough saved me buying a new switch top man your vid was perfect explained very well thank you
That's great to hear, Barry!
Thanks for your comment 😉
I just had the RAC out he told me it was the motors…. I’m like watch this vid and others and they all say good chance the contacts. Anyways I call the rac only cause I couldn’t pull the clip apart was so hard! So rac did that part I did the rest…. Yay window working thank you so much for your video life saver. Not bad for woman 😋
You are welcome, glad it helped!
Do not undersell yourself and your auto skills. I teach apprentices and generally the ladies have far more attention to detail than the guys. In fact, I named a young woman Apprentice Of The Year recently. She got a tool kit, her name on an award plaque & a gift card of $100. You should get recognition for the skills, not the gender.
Well done!
Hi MM, you provide good service to your customers, I don't know how common it is in our industry to repair at component level, if Labour rates make it uneconomical.
Yes you are right ltkaffey, it is a balancing act between part replacement and parts repair. Despite what it looks like in the video, the actual repair wasn't difficult or time consuming.
Thanks for your comment.
Absolutely brilliant fix and will save a good bit of cash.
Thanks John, I appreciate your comment 😁
Thank you for all those informations, i like the way you throw away the screw driver :)
That's the advantage of working on a bench. It collects your tools when you throw them 😉
Thanks for a great video, and made easy to follow. Just fixed the exact same problem on 2014 ix35, in fact same switch too.......thanks so much ❤
Glad it helped. It seems to be a common problem.
Thanks for your subscription 👍😉
Thanks so much, I followed your steps and everything works just as yours did.
Great to hear! 👍😉
Worked brilliantly. Thank you
Great to hear! 😉
Good job. I have watch video and start to do the job. But with some modification. I have drill two small hole on the body of the window switch and used contact cleaner . 6 months after everything still working normal.
Thanks for your comment. Usually it's burnt contacts that cause the fault. I hope your repair continues to work! Well done. 😊👍
Hi MM. Good to see it up close. Thanks for the detailed vid.
Thanks Mate 😊
Wow, awesome video and I’m going to do exactly what you’ve shown..will report back once complete.
Please do!
@@MiracleMAX I successfully fixed the passenger side toggle switch as you've described, was super easy and the tip around coloured dots for alignment was brilliant. The drivers side I couldn't complete as I don't have a decent soldering iron (tried with my clunky junk one, couldn't get it hot enough to melt the soldered pins and/or I don't know how to do this properly) and I've also never tried removing a soldered switch from a board. Decided to abort that mission. Still, I found your video so very, very helpful, thanks so much! :-)
@@anthossotnya5770 That's great news Anthos, glad you were able to carry out a successful repair. 😁👍
Very informative video, many thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent explanation MAX😊😊😊
Glad you liked it! 😉👍
Great video, thanks. I've just bought a 2011 IX35 with this exact same problem. I might have a go at this, but if too fiddly I might just replace the switches themselves if I can find the part numbers. Thanks again.
Hey 843thebear,
If you have the confidence, take your time and are willing to give it a shot, the repair is not too difficult. However, replacement switches are readily available online as well. Just search 'ix35 power window switch'.
@@MiracleMAX Thanks for making this video. I have started doing the same and stuck at video 13:53 , small part is not coming out of the switch. I tried using the same method as you, it's not budging . Please help if you can . Thanks
@@manishsurjan5733 They can be a little hard to disassemble. Pull up on the section of the switch you are trying to remove with one hand while you lever the lock tabs out. If it is really stuck, you might have someone help you during this procedure.
Brilliant video, thanks. Mine is playing up at the moment, and replacements are super expensive. I'm wary of E Bay replacements. Max, would you have any ideas of a good place to source a new one? Cheers.
Hey Richard,
You could try a spare parts supplier (AutoOne, Repco, Supercheap, etc) I have used Ebay switches with good success as well. Otherwise genuine is the only other option.
@@MiracleMAX Thanks Max, I'll do that.
Thanks for this, I've just used it to repair a passenger side switch. The soldering on the driver's side switches is putting me off fixing that. I don't know how you got the switch out of it's casing so easily, mine was very difficult.
Editing is a wonderful tool. It was quite a pain to get the circuit board out of the housing, but patience prevailed. 😉
thank you very much! works like charm
Glad it helped 😉
What could it be if both front windows only go up and down half way? Happened at the same time. 2018. Fuse, relay, motors all well. Thanks for any input!
Hey A Jordan,
Not sure if your model has this capability, but you may have to reset the window positions
Good job👏👏👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Cheers bro 😁 ill be able to fo this on the weekend
Hope it goes well
@MiracleMAX Hope you are doing well. If you remember my previous comments, my passenger side window is not going up(from Driver side switch + passenger side switch both ) . I tried to follow steps as you have described in the video. I had ordered passenger side switch from Ebay and has replaced it, Issue still remains as is. Window is completely down from few days and its really problematic to drive and park outside anywhere. I am desperately looking for first and foremost to get the window closed first and 2nd priority resolve the underlying issue. What are the next steps I can try from here? Please help. Thanks a ton.
Sorry, I can't see your previous comments. When you press either the master switch or door switch, do you have power and ground to the window motor? Have you checked for voltage drops on both the voltage and ground circuits? Can you apply power from a battery to the motor to get it to go up and down? If you can raise and lower the window (change polarity of connections to change motor direction) with an independant battery, these have power supplied from the master switch, so that might be an issue. You need to do all the testing I suggested first.
@@MiracleMAX Thank you so much for your response. I would really appreciate if you can share what equipment will be required to voltage drops etc ? As I don't have much experience, more details(if possible any video) will help me a lot.
@@manishsurjan5733 Here is a video that should help you carry out a voltage drop test. ua-cam.com/video/gX5djxG24oI/v-deo.html
Do you have a multimeter & are you confident using it? There are 4 videos in this series that should help you.

@@MiracleMAX Thank you sharing the details. I think I need to get this checked with expert as unable to understand much on this. I am based in Northwest Sydney, Can we connect and I can get your help , I can come to your garage . Thank you

Wouh experience tell everything, we’ll done.
Do you know location of the headlight relay on Hyundai ix35 highlander. Thanks
What year is the vehicle and is it the high beam or low beam relay? Do you think it is faulty?
@@MiracleMAX, 2012. yes I suspect relay cos at the connector to the bulb both have 11.87 volts ( low & high )
@@amrisalk233 From what I can see, power starts at Fuse 11 through F21 to relay K40. This is for high beam only. I would be checking for a voltage drop or perhaps a poor ground. Is it the same on both headlights? What is your battery voltage when lights are turned on? Could it be a voltage drop at the switch?
@@MiracleMAX, Thanks for your awesome reply. Only problem on RH, LH all good. I couldn’t locate the relay
@@amrisalk233 in that case, if it's only on one side, I believe there is only one relay, so it won't be the relay. Check for a poor ground, poor contact or voltage drop. Let us know if you find the fault.
nice job mate
Cheers Roberto. 😉
Hi Max where are you based?
NSW. Further information, you can contact me on my Email address listed under the 'Above' tab on my homepage.
@@MiracleMAX I am not able to open the last part of switch at 13:54 min of your video, Unable to post a photo here due to restrictions from UA-cam. I am stuck , if you can help please , I am also based in Sydney NSW
Awesome. Thanks a lot
Thanks Mike,
Glad you liked it!
Got a quote for this exact same thing, same car same model, same problem $800
Hopefully the video can help to save some money.
you have to desolder blo tin?
Sorry, I don't understand the question.
👍
Thanks mate 😉
You da man!
Thank you 😁
I put a new master switch and passenger side switch up on the front passenger side and it still ain't working lol
Did you check for powers and grounds like shown in the video?
FYI that Koreans pronounce Hyundai as "Hun-day".
Interesting 👍
