Another good use: the articulation keyswitch notes in kontakt or other samplers are often really low and also hard to remember which does what. Having buttons labelled 'pizz' that plays a C0 note, another labelled 'legato' that plays a D0 etc. can be very useful 😀
This is a very cool video, as always! Glad you're also using the Streamdeck!! I use the if for screensets (record, edit, process) and toggle certain things visible, like the video screen, the JT video guide lines by toggling the monitor FX, the FX Browser, and Region/Marker Manager.
Thanks, Jon. I have been curious about Stream Deck for awhile, and know a lot of people who use it with Reaper. It's nice to see a demo, here. I recently started using Keyboard Maestro palettes for those less commonly-used actions where I'm never going to remember a specific key-binding. The advantage of the KM palettes (besides not having to have another piece of hardware sitting on your desk), is that you can keep your hands on the qwerty keyboard.
I've had the XL for nearly a year. Love it for those seldom used keystrokes that I never remember like 'glue'. Also, I like having a single button push to set markers.
I wanna do live singing , was having issues with the vocals not matching the music on playback , so I downloaded reaper . After doing some research . Now I’m trying to see if I can use some of the instrumentals off stream deck to add to reaper and not have any audio lag issues
Awesome for jingles in a radio environment. I use the AKAI APC40mkI with Reaper, or jingleplayer, or lasershow midi controller. I use all of them, it's good to have templates :)
Hi. this an awesome video. I just purchased the stream-deck this video is about. At the tale end Of the Video; you mentioned that you can use the stream-deck to pregame cc changes, midi note changes. I have a Icon platform Nano Daw controller. It really works well with reaper. Providing that you use the DrivenByMoss software to make sure all the functions are mapped, and work properly. Q A. Can You provide some guidance to be able to switch the jog-wheel functions of the platform Nano to be used instead of my mouse wheel when I need to navigate, and scroll through all the reaper menues, and file explore? Example.. open the plugin fx window, and find the plugin you need, and add it to your track fx chain, and the go back to the regular jog-wheel function... once I, am done adding my plugins. Or even to turn on or off reaper settings...? Thank you for your time, and I hope to hear from you soon. Cheers!.
I understand you can add FX to the track, however can you somehow toggle between those fx windows on a selected track with like a programmed "forward" and "back" control?
Hey Jon, great tutorial. You mostly dealt with keystrokes. Can the Stream Deck buttons be assigned directly from an action (that is NOT assigned to a key)?
not directly no. You can send keyboard, MIDI or OSC (via companion app) to reaper but you'll still need to connect them in the action list. A reaper web remote can send command ID directly.
Reaper wins the race by a landslide. All the power to you. But just curious do you mark rendered tracks so the are flagged when played so someone could lets say get paid. Just a thought you dont have to answser
Hey man I was curious if you know enough about DAW's to answer this question. Is it possible to route your speaker input into a DAW with a microphone and then invert the speaker and use the remaining output in discord so I could play games with speakers and talk to people without them hearing echo's from said speaker. If it's possible you don't need to go in detail on how to do it, a simple suggestion or it's possible would help a lot. Thank you have a great day!
Another way to load track templates, is simply to assign an open file function to a button on stream deck, and browse to reapers template track folder, then choose ur template. No hot key needed😉
now when Elgato has completely free version 2.x for phones/tablets with 6 buttons (and countless profiles/pages/folders), it becomes an interesting thing!
You need to look at Touch Portal!!! This is way more flexible than this. It is an APP on the iPad or Android. $12 Then desktop app is free, where you setup ALL the buttons, You have have multiple PAGES of buttons with MORE than this an A LOT cheaper.... PLEASE check it out and review. There is a REAPER page setup that a user did. To work off of
It looks the same, but I think personally that working with a phone or tablet (with a touchscreen, the wifi that must be connected, the screensavers that switch off the screens and the battery charges issues) is less fun that reals buttons that you are sure that they do what you want when you want. Although it cost more money, I prefer a real "gear" like a stream deck for launch Reaper shortcuts in a organized way.
I mentioned touch portal in a video a while ago. After getting the Stream Deck I have to admit that I prefer it. Easier to set up and reliable. If my wifi faltered for just a second, I'd have to restart Touch Portal. The tactile feedback is also better, I feel. There's also a midi app which just added mackie controls. Not so sure if that's a determining factor for me, but it might for others. Sometimes I use both, with Touch Portal on a tablet. Maybe if I could do the programming necessary I could make it more useful, but the Stream Deck is just easier.

Six minutes in and I ordered a Stream Deck. It's quite possible that it is now in my top 3 fave gadgets.
I think reaper is the 1st daw to have 10k+ tutorial videos on youtube. It's way more better than expensive daw
Brilliant video. Used this and also looked at your video about track templates and sws extentions. So helpful. Many, many thanks.
Thanks Jon! I just purchased the Elgato Streamdeck 15 and I'm looking forward to setting it up for Reaper, OBS and DaVinci Resolve etc.

Thanks! I'd been wondering about this exact application
This was great, thank you. About to try out reaper and also getting stream deck mobile app to use with cubase 13 pro and reaper 7. 🎹♥️
excellent tutorial! I have been using this setup for a few years now myself and recommend it often! I just wish the buttons werent so mushy!

Very much appreciate this video! Almost spooky I bought the deck last week for this exact purpose. :-)
I use my Stream Deck for loading track names and strings for the color and icon for X32ReaperAutomate. It works very well for that purpose.
cool
as I recently got a stream deck, I did a setup now. Thanks for the tips jon

Is it possible to set up stream deck to fire different scenes with smooth fader movements (instead of jumping into position)?
Thanks a lot for your tutorial. Which video on your channel shows how to customize the 'Reaper template' or do some 'Project management'?
Can the button image be updated once you click them? Say, you press "toggle repeat" and you can see on Stream Deck that it's on?
you can for apps with real streamdeck integration. not for reaper unless you were doing an OSC setup.
@@TheREAPERBlog thank you

You could try this "SWS/S&M: Toggle float FX 1 for selected tracks"
Jon, I am about to pull the trigger on this one. Still recommended?
Very interesting, thanks !
Interested to try this on the streamdeck phone app
Hi!
how do you put the grid lines in red? thanks 🙂
