The Hulu movie was well done capturing the times very well. Here's what I think happened. Betty confronted Candy, and it turned into a heated exchange. The 1980 sets are perfectly dressed. The musical score is creepy. Candy should’ve gotten the death penalty, justice wasn’t served as she gruesomely axe murdered Betty and unbelievably went free! Nope. Ms. Gore was my brother's reading teacher, and she was tiny. She would not have attacked Candy, probably couldn't even have picked up that ax. If she were going to kill Candy, she would have found a better tool. There were dozens in her kitchen, alone. Candy was just deeply weird and psychotic. Witness the cool logic with which she designed her affair as though it were a building project. Deeply weird and unauthentic.

One or two hits maybe with a fist or kick no ax. I would have thrown it and fought if I was that scared. How was this woman found not guilty of anything criminal is absurd and the jury was blind or dumb and the district attorney was seriously lacking and played it too chill. And to be able to become a mental health advisor is insane too. Men are forced to fight in wars and have to fight in combat in the front lines, and women are only there via choice.
Even in Ukraine all men from 18 to 60 are forbidden to leave the country, yet women of any age without or with children are allowed to leave and sit in Italy and lay on a beach.

Maybe there’s more to the story than I know, but the fact that Allan was out of town doesn’t automatically lead me to believe that he wasn’t involved in the planning of his wife’s murder. Nor does it make sense that Candy could kill her with an axe and get off on self defense.

It makes perfect sense that a jury in Texas would not sentence a white Christian housewife with what she actually did. The stronghold that image has on the simple minds of small town people is an unreasonable death grip, and has acquitted many guilty people time and again.

This story was done quite a few years ago. It was called A Killing in a Small Town starring Barbara Hershey and Brian Dehehey. It was an outstanding TV movie. Barbara's Hershey was excellent as Candy!

Story is about candy. She's a piece of work. Got it covered it.... let's talk real quick about Allen.
    1. Dude cheats
    2. Wife gets un-alived and after she's gone he gets remarried and not even to the chick he was cheating with.
    3. He let's his deceased wife's parents adopt both of his children.
He just goes on about his life. Wow

If she is still alive and they know she changed her name. Could they reopen the case and maybe go through fingerprints the ax for DNA maybe to find only her fingerprints?😳

Double jeporday. The "not guilty" verdict means Candy cannot be retried for that crime. If the trial had resulted in a hung jury, then, yes, she could be retried if the prosecution thought they had a better case.
But the advent of DNA technology wouldn't help anything, at any rate. There was never a question of "who". Candy admitted she killed Betty. Candy got off because of "why" or psychological diminished capacity.
