In these coffee shops. What are spring and up all over the country? It is nearly £5 for one cup of coffee. Yet the same people who pay £5 for one cup of coffee ,will complain when the milk in their local shop has gone up 10p😂🤔🇬🇧
Lots of pubs are closing because people already can’t afford the prices. Binge drinkers pre-drink on cheap supermarket booze before going out to the pub, so have a think where any new regulations on alcohol are needed…
3.30.for a pint in of Guinness just outside london and some Witherspoons do carling for 2.50 and some other independent beers for under 2.00.. its still not that busy even at that price. So no.
We find ourselves going back to the 1700's with undrinkable water! The option they had then was to drink very cheap beer instead of water. The pub was derived from this social practice and it is a social pastime I still enjoy. What happens when they ban or tax us out of everything we once enjoyed? Maybe the likes of Sunak and Johnson believe we should just work more hours to keep them in the lifestyle that they enjoy?
when i started drinking beer in 1974 i paid 14 p for a pint of bitter todays prices are crazy time to reduce the price of a pint before our pubs close down.stop the supermarkets selling cheap booze
I noticed a shift way back when my brother's millenial kids just went to the park with their friends to drink when they were 15. I (and friends) were trying to get into pubs at that age. My brother's kids never really then made the jump into pub life and never really bothered to go. While at Uni (I went late, 1997) there was a marked shift from 1997 through to 2003 in the direction of less students going out to the pub etc. It was strange to start uni and be able to jump into a bar social life and over the years just watch it become less and less busy. It is the way it's gone and I think the development of pubs etc form just power drinking/pub crawls to places to also be able to sit and eat has been a good thing but doubling the price will kill that off.
The smoking ban on June the 1st 2007 killed the pub trade. Why they couldn't have just left it. The way it was I will never understand. There was a part of the pub. Or club where you could smoke and the other part. you couldn't. That wasn't broken then , so why fix it?🤔🏴
Never understood this needing to drink alcohol attitude. For brits it becomes as normal as buying milk, very odd. 4 bottles of wine a week, is a lot, half a bottle a day. I say wack the prices up to sane level as cigarettes. Two perfect examples of drinkers, one on the phone a recovering slcoholic and Mike hardly looks the picture of health.
Pubs shouldn't be part of British culture. They don't have them in Europe or most places around the world and they don't have the alcohol related issues that we have here
By what right, do you feel that you have to dictate what our culture should and shouldn't be? There are many countries on the European Continent that have a drinking culture.
You dont have to drink, there is water and orange juice mate.. some of us want to go to the pub to meet friends and girls, if that's ok with you. Or should the culture of wanting friends and birds be banned too. ?
What a ridiculous comment, all European countries have bars, it's the British that drink far too much, the Europeans don't get drunk, they drink responsibly.
Pubs is an essential part of British culture. They need to have protections so that we don’t lose anymore.
Pakistanis and Bangladeshis dont really go to the pub. So most london pubs will.shut.
