lol @ looking for land in Houston. Too too funny. Yea we have been planning those chicken feeders for sometime now. The hay feeder come on my feed right on time. Absolutely awesome! You two know how to think through your systems and each detail. Way to go! Virtually every adult animal species actually profits from a day of fasting now and then, so even if they were without food one day it would not be a huge disaster. The only disaster I can think of is a predator or a loss of water.
As an additional revenue stream, I imagine that you could put together an online class on how to accomplish this.
Sydney, that is a creative use of a tote as a hay feeder. Good job. It looks like they may require you to add some bracing as they try to use it as a scratching post.

Great information and ideas, Sid and Tory. We definitely need to figure out better systems for getting away from our homestead every now and then. Having to get a neighbor to check on ours is not a great long term fix.
Yea, I'm trying to set up a system where Mrs goes back to work it wont be a burden on her and the animals. At least until i can be like you and retire.

Omg. I can't even leave my dog alone for more than 5 hours and that's only when I have surgery and he's home with my 94 year old dad. Lol. I haven't had a day off in over 9 year's... 9 YEARS 😂😂 And here I am wanting to adopt another dog. I can't do it. Lol
😅🤣😂.......some of us have to create time for mental well-being.....don't get that dog and give yourself a deserved break 👏 💕

Don’t you have hawks? We cannot let our chickens out in open field.
Yes we do have hawks. We have large roosters that are very protective over their girls. In each pen we have two roosters. We don't have many trees where they are and have plenty of shelter area for the chickens to run and hide under. Now everyone around us free range their chickens and get picked off one by one. What works for us might not work for others.
