    So good...all of it..from circuit mangling, to music and footage choice...even the candid explanation. Love your channel.

      Thanks for the kind words! That music is a wee collab I did with my pal Tupper Werewolf. He is on bandcamp. Well worth a look!

    I just bought one of these and waiting on delivery. I'm not sure why I got it, looked kinda cool and I like this SD era stuff. As you like messing with video have ever checked out the Pioneer SVM-1000, it's an amazing box of A/V tricks but is a big heavy beast.

    this is sooo coool!!
    maybe you could use audio signals and cv from your modular to manipulate the params tooo, which would be even more interesting!

      Thanks! Yeah I was too lazy to add in audio reactivity to this one, as I've put it into some of my other builds. I went with the clicky clacky momentary switches instead :D

    This turned out AMAZING!!! Everything looks so badass, blown away by all of this... the lipstick scene was incredible as with many others, freaking WOW!!! Killer lil track with Tupper for this too!! (And dude, I was dying at the beard switch!! 🤣 That part really cracked me up man!!! 🤣) 🐀

      Thanks man! I loved that lipstick scene too. The colours just popped. I need to experiment more with different footage and see how it goes. haha that beard cut has haunted me as I've had to hold off on other videos because of this scene.

    Dear Stephen, amazing work. I am actually looking for one of these VCC 3010s, unmodified, to touch up some VHS videos. Do you think it is decent quality? Does it pass a clean signal? Thank you. Attila

    • @StephenMcLeod
      @StephenMcLeod  7 місяців тому

      Hey, sorry for the delayed reply. It's hard to answer that as VHS quality in general is... well, questionable. I think it does a decent job as a mild enhancer, yeah. Though these units are so old that I wouldn't necessarily count on it!. You might be better touching them up digitally and recording that output back to VHS.

    If I want to start circuit bending with out any knowledge of circuits. What are the safety precautions I should take?
    12v battery?
    Gloves?
    Glasses?
    Maybe I should ask gpt

    • @StephenMcLeod
      @StephenMcLeod  Рік тому

      Video circuit bending is probably not the place to start in terms of safety - most are wall connected. I'd begin with battery powered toys first and experiment that way then move on. Check out Pushkar Brand's channel as they have an awesome guide on circuit vending video processors.

      @allmyfriendsaresynths I found a little video switcher at a thrift store and went for it anyway. Turned out pretty cool 🤣🤣. I spend a few days on a bread board and made a dirty video mixer first tho!

    Can you not use those switches to connect and disconnect selected circuit connections you've made, so you can leave the pot settings for them intact but turn them off when needed.

    • @KeltyVince
      @KeltyVince 2 роки тому

      I made this comment just before you said about the issue with cutting the board, I think using a Dremel kind of machine with the appropriate cutter might do a better job of cutting a circuit board, good video !

    • @StephenMcLeod
      @StephenMcLeod  2 роки тому +1

      Hey! Thanks for the comments. I had to laugh a bit when you said 'appropriate', as that would involve actual skill on my part haha. Re-using the switches is a great idea, which I hadn't thought of. The one issue is that they are latching, but... one at a time. So kind of a binary selector (I'm not sure of the exact term) - so they wouldn't work for that particular use case. If I do another one of these I might have a think about how I could re-use them better (or just not remove them ideally...)

    • @KeltyVince
      @KeltyVince 2 роки тому +1

      @@StephenMcLeod Ah that's a pity about the switches, quite limited how you could use them then, I was also going to mention that when you're drilling the holes for your pots etc, if you pick up a spring loaded center punch, not to expensive, and once you've marked out the positions, use it to create a dent in each location you are gona drill, it will stop the drill bit from drifting away from the exact point you want it to stay on, also starting the drill slowly can help, I know it doesn't really matter if the holes are perfect, but looks better if they are, and if you ever get round to selling bent gear, its obviously more professional if everything looks neat, I've been enjoying some of your video's, just recently subbed you channel, it's good to see a fellow scot making synth video's !

    • @StephenMcLeod
      @StephenMcLeod  2 роки тому +1

      @@KeltyVince That's a great suggestion, thank you! I have punches, but hammering them is a pain. I didn't realise there were spring loaded ones available. I'll check them out!

  • @curtwells4905
    @curtwells4905 Рік тому

    Has no one ever shown you a Punch starter for drilling through metal? Just sharpie out the lines, and then use the Punch to define the drill bit's "bite". Stuff will line up, slicker than cat shit on linoleum.
