That is her actual singing voice. Her speaking voice is a bit different, and she can sing much higher if she chooses, but that is her musical style. she is downright amazing. I would definitely recommend her performances of Wicked Game and the Russian folk song Rechenka. both are absolutely stunning. She has several other amazing performances that you would enjoy as well, but those are great to start with.

I think it's something to do with tongue position. She doesn't sound like this always, or even most of the time - this is actually the only performance of her's I've heard where she's using it throughout. Still, her regular chest voice is pretty low. I HIGHLY recommend her performance of "Rechenka" - it's spine chillingly good, a world class performance, and totally different from this. And she was just 14 years old when she performed it. You are correct in that Diana is a contralto, and her voice is not “processed.” She is a child prodigy from Russia and has attended a music academy and has had years of voice lessons. She has won numerous competitions (this video was her final winning performance of “You Are Super,” which is a Russian child competition similar to “The Voice.” She is only 14 in this video. There are some videos out there of her, where she's just singing in what looks like a townhall, and that shows that it is indeed how she sounds. Because I went looking the first time I saw her, because I also thought that she had to have some sort of effect on her voice. But nope. Apart from her amazing voice, I also really like how she handles herself in her performances. Although she's only in her mid teens in these The Voice like recordings, she just feels so at home on the stage, and gives it all in her brief performances.

She has a very unique voice - yep. And only 15 years old in that video. The only singer I've ever heard that comes even close to sounding like Diana is Cher. Cher has been around for 50-+ years and only now I have heard a similar voice in Diana. That should give you an idea of how rare Diana's the singing voice is. And at such a young age, she has so many growth options.

The bald judge is Maestro Igor Krutoy, a very famous composer. Since the competition he is mentoring her and he paid for an apartment for her and her family to make life easier for them. He has also joined Dimash Kudaibergen to compose several new songs just for him. He has already composed 2 new ones and reworked some of his other songs he had already composed before joining Dimash. The 2 new ones are Ogni Pietra (Olympico) and Passione.

Hello, maybe you have heard of Yma Sumac and her four and a half octave range (by conservative reports). There was no "processing" 70 years ago with Yma and there is none with Diana. There are tons of non-professional non-TV videos on UA-cam of Diana singing on street corners, in parks, at shopping malls. Her range isn’t any lower than mine (I’m a contralto). She just has a unique & VERY distinctive sound. She actually sounds quite a bit like Cher. Really, really interesting and impressive. I’d buy a whole album for the content... I’m interested in hearing all the different ways she may be able to use her voice. I’d also LOVE to just to be able to sing along with a woman in my range. You’re so right: contralto are uncommon and personally I usually have better luck singing along with tenors, except for the bottom 4-5 notes the average tenor can easily hit. As Cool technician states, she is able to lower her larynx and keep it there, it has sort of quality as if you tried to sing through yawning. Very unique. There are other sings she can do, but I would hate to spoil it for you. Her early childhood was not exactly pleasant as she was put into an orphanage when she was about four. I am pretty sure that I heard that she suffered from selective mutism and singing was a kind of therapy for her. I think Cher uses a similar technique in her music - she was the first one I had to think of... Anyway, speaking about unique voices/vocal techniques, you should try reacting to The Hu - Chinggis Khan, it's metal mixed with Mongolian throat singing which combines suprisingly well :)

You are correct in that Diana is a contralto, and her voice is not “processed.” She is a child prodigy from Russia and has attended a music academy and has had years of voice lessons. She has won numerous competitions (this video was her final winning performance of “You Are Super,” which is a Russian child competition similar to “The Voice.” She is only 14 in this video. There are some videos out there of her, where she's just singing in what looks like a townhall, and that shows that it is indeed how she sounds. Because I went looking the first time I saw her, because I also thought that she had to have some sort of effect on her voice. But nope. Apart from her amazing voice, I also really like how she handles herself in her performances. Although she's only in her mid teens in these The Voice like recordings, she just feels so at home on the stage, and gives it all in her brief performances.

She has a very unique voice - yep. And only 15 years old in that video. The only singer I've ever heard that comes even close to sounding like Diana is Cher. Cher has been around for 50-+ years and only now I have heard a similar voice in Diana. That should give you an idea of how rare Diana's the singing voice is. And at such a young age, she has so many growth options.

The bald judge is Maestro Igor Krutoy, a very famous composer. Since the competition he is mentoring her and he paid for an apartment for her and her family to make life easier for them. He has also joined Dimash Kudaibergen to compose several new songs just for him. He has already composed 2 new ones and reworked some of his other songs he had already composed before joining Dimash. The 2 new ones are Ogni Pietra (Olympico) and Passione.

She is another one of these great talents, that gets her second/additional attention via reaction videos. She's amazingly talented and yes..theres is no manipulation of her vocals at all.. she manages to lower her larynx so that's why she can get that really low and deep tone. Many reactor compare her a bit with Cher or Shakira..but shes just light years away.

Diana was abused and abandoned by her natural mother at 4 years old! She was temporarily taken in by relatives and then placed in a Russian orphanage where she was later adopted by one of the orphanage's workers! Diana could not speak and a doctor suggested they enroll Diana in music training.it is here where Diana found her voice,and what a voice she has found! Her adopted mother is a supportive blessing to Diana! She is being mentored by a famous Russian composer!
Diana's music is very emotionally moving! She makes you feel the emotion and her passion for singing and performing with every song she sings! I have never had an artist touch my "spiritual being" like Diana in a language/Russian that I am totally unfamiliar with!

Hello, maybe you have heard of Yma Sumac and her four and a half octave range (by conservative reports). There was no "processing" 70 years ago with Yma and there is none with Diana.

Sometimes ago in a dream, some voice sounded to my unconscious ears quite like the one I never experienced before.

You’re so right: contralto are uncommon and personally I usually have better luck singing along with tenors, except for the bottom 4-5 notes the average tenor can easily hit.

As Cool technician states, she is able to lower her larynx and keep it there, it has sort of quality as if you tried to sing through yawning. Very unique. There are other sings she can do, but I would hate to spoil it for you. Her early childhood was not exactly pleasant as she was put into an orphanage when she was about four. I am pretty sure that I heard that she suffered from selective mutism and singing was a kind of therapy for her. She uses her tongue to produce that sounds - you can do the same if you press your tongue against the top of your mouth while singing, though it takes skill to make the words remain clear while doing so. I think Cher uses a similar technique in her music - she was the first one I had to think of...
