I just love how you get excited and you make gardening fun like it is supposed to be. I love gardening
I plant four o clocks every year and love them every year.
Great seed selections!
I have also grown passion flower. I like to prune frequently to encourage branching.
Love you guys! Not only was it very informative it was fun to watch. I mean who isn't excited for new seeds! It's very addicting. I am doing mostly vegetables this year but I may just have to order some more and grow some flowers too...now see what you made me do :)
Thanks so much for all the wonderful info on seed starting, this will be my first year! I'm both excited and nervous, but lots of my questions were answered in the video! I love y'all's channel!!! I have lots of rudbeckia seeds, but now I need to up my foxglove game!!! 🌻
You two are awesome. Thank you for taking the time to explain each and every step of starting seeds to planting out. You even provided us with what we will need to be successful. I'm posting this video to my Pinterest. ❤️
Wow ... That was a Master Class on seed starting .... Thank You so much for that awesome information ... Now I need to get busy ordering supplies .... !!!
oups ... did you say that you where going to list info about your lighting ... ???
Yes just added them! Sorry about that :)
I have grown 4 o clocks for many years. I grow the salmon color. Yes, eac plant gets wide and tall and bushy, if it has space. They like water when it's hot. Extremely fast growing, i have had them bloom, drop seds, grow and bloom again in a hot summer. I have also many times had the massive plant snap right off during a summer rainstorm. But if you have hundreds of other plants, it's ok.
Hi, I’ve been watching you for a while and I love your channel. Can’t wait to see what annuals you are planting this year. I saw your video of you shopping different gardens centers. There is a huge garden center in Greensboro, NC called Carolina Nursery. I know it’s couple hours away from you but the trip will be worth it. Hope you can make it there
LOL I had over 72 foxgloves because I didn’t thin! I also gave some away but planted over half. Some where first year bloom while others second. It should be quite a beautiful show this year 🌼🐝 thanks!
I'm looking forward to your foxglove video! I love them, but I've not been super successful.
i live outside Raleigh. I grew 4 o clocks for the first time last year. They did really well in my garden. So I am sure you will have success. They are pretty easy. The only problem I had was that I planted them in afternoon sun. They did not open up at 4:00. The area had shade in the morning and they would open in the morning. So it looks like they want shade for the blooms to open. That's my experience just up the road from you.
This was awesome!! And costly…I had to keep stopping and ordering 🥰. I really appreciate the growing light tip. I ordered one to try. I also use those same Gardeners supply sets and LOVE them. I am going to try coleus seeds for the first time thanks to you. I love them tucked around my garden. That spreadsheet is amazing and I am going to try copying that. I live on Cape Cod so am barely a zone 7a. I can’t wait for the fun to begin. Thanks so much!
Yay!! So glad we could inspire you. Spring will be here so soon!
Last year I put the Cherry Brandy Rudbeckia right on top of the soil in a wide pot and placed outdoors with an entire winter of snow and frozen temperatures. Every one germinated. I let them get quite large, almost ready to bloom, then popped them in the garden. Very successful and beautiful. I was under the impression they are perennial, but I may have been mistaken. But the still have seeds out there in the garden. Maybe i should go out there and shove some of the seeds in the ground? In the cold part of Ohio.
Lots of great info! Thank you!
Additionally, I’ve found that a seedling heat mat and a humidity dome speed up germination considerably. I’ve also found regular potting mix to work just fine for seed sowing; although I remove the larger chunks of material when filling the tray.
Are you guys growing any veg or herbs from seed?
❤️
Great list! I love foxglove and you'll love lisianthus - start them now!! I started them last year on Jan 2, 2022 and they bloomed in early June (I'm in zone 5b). Can you share the name of the second seed source that you mentioned? Thanks!
Do you do any Winter sowing???
We haven't tried that method yet, but we may try some next year when we aren't as busy!
I am totally obsessed with growing foxgloves from seed! The biennial varieties are worth the wait, but I actually had some bloom first year for me after an unusually long growing season in 5b. Also, can't beat the all summer long blooms of Rudbeckia.
Oh how fun!! I'm hoping we will get some first year blooms as well :)
