Do you have a video of doing a complete breakdown and rebuild of the transmission and housing kit? I’ve had to completely tear down and rebuild mine and once I got it tore down I need a few more bearings and now I have completely forgot how to put this thing back together, the parts manual doesn’t exactly explain everything like one bracket I took apart and I took two bearings out but the parts manual tells me to only put one bearing back in so I’m kind of stumped. Could you help me out?

Two weeks ago, I bought a brand-new Uberscoot 70x. When it arrived, the final drive was engaged at all times and the belts would spin while pushing it. It could be pushed forwards and backwards.
The 2nd gear would not stay engaged. I adjusted the cable to allow just enough slack for the thumb shifter to lock into middle, and 2nd will now stay engaged.
    I adjusted nothing else.
The bike would, in operation, suddenly drag down and resist forward motion; nearly like using the brakes.
This would go away as suddenly as it cropped up, and randomly.
Yesterday, it did not go away. The bike will not power itself in a forward direction.
The engine starts and runs normally.
When the throttle is pressed, the engine responds well enough, but the final will not turn under power from the engine.
In 1st gear, pushing the bike forward no longer spins the belts. Pushing in reverse does.
In 2nd gear, wheel will not turn in either direction.
What do you think has happened?

Hey Mr. Puzey. I alaways wanted to see who invented this scooter. I have the 52cc american design. Im having some trouble with 2nd gear. My gear box is like I have 3 gears. L then when i push to switch to second it sort of stops in the middle. Then when I shift up again it goes all the way to 2nd or in my case 3rd gear. For the longest time i thought that was the way it was supposed to be, because it came that way. An I noticed that when I put a lot of pressure when it is in 2nd gear or in my case 3rd it goes even faster. What should I do? Also how do I get the 71cc in the US? Thanks guys! Also I used to make theses with weedwacker engines an a go cart clutch almost 23 years ago. An I had gopeds. This EVO is by far my favorite!

Needs to be in middle. I know its a pain even on mine, its Just L for low and H for High, but when I shift on my uberscoot it never hits the H,just stays in the middle. So when replacing keep it in the middle, and make sure its in second gear(middle) when reconnecting. Good Luck

  • @katiedonovanAlt
    @katiedonovanAlt 3 роки тому

Well, I have determined what happened.
There are now TWO clutch plate bearings.
I love it when racers develop things....but you still need actual engineers!
Okay; those two 6002 bearings you jammed into the clutch plate?
That does NOT solve the issue of them overheating...it just doubles the heat!
Look; you need a secondary support for the input shaft, you need two bearings which have at least the width of the bering between them, and the two berings that support the input shaft need to be Silicon Nitride to withstand the heat and vibration....not to mention that without a second support plate, ALL of the torque from the engine AND the noise from the road is getting slammed into that clutch plate bearing.
Those OXO bearings are for SKATEBOARDS and similar non-motorized vehicles.
In the immediate, you should STOP shipping them with two bearings right next to each other in the clutch plate...not only do they fit poorly, so the input shaft is hard to turn before it's even in the bike, but the heat is DOUBLED since the friction in the area is doubled, which actually results in SHORTER bearing life--MUCH shorter.
My new bike is broken---AGAIN--and my $800 is wearing a hole in my pocket.
And don't even get me started on that insult of a tool kit.
Have you ever actually tried to USE the tool kit that comes with your bike to work on it?
Here's a hint: spanners are cheaper than wrenches because they ARE NOT WRENCHES!
Spanners are designed to grip a flat land on a round shaft and hold it in place while a WRENCH is used on some other part...they are NOT intended to substitute for real tools in cheap-ass toolkits that come with $800 bikes. That and there are only four tools in the entire kit which actually fit ANYTHING ANYWHERE on the bike.
And that one-nut chain adjuster you're so proud of?
Yeah, that thing that's so revolutionary and convenient?
The "tool kit" (it says so on the bag!)comes with four hex wrenches and guess how many FIT into that bolt to adjust the chain slack? You guessed it! ZERO! Yay!

    • @butlersracing7692

Indeed one needs to make it a single speed. Simply remove gear box and make a new shaft which runs from Clutch bell through to left side cassing which is seated in plastic bushing by means of bearing. Mate a 14tooth onto that which will go right up close against the bell, coupled to a rear 40 or 36 tooth on the rear and you should be golden

This scooter is junk and here is why...
A good mate of mine approached a few of us after having the idea that it would be good for us to invest in not only the scooters themselves as a rental option at one of the best MX tracks in South Africa but also to create a new scooterX class under MSA.
The poor dude who is extremely clued up with engineering as a fabric maintenance manager/integrity engineer for one of the oil giants and who knows his hand around any engine almost got his name tarnished from this product and it's a good thing he went by himself and funded the first one as a "demo" out of his own pocket because had we gone ahead and purchased the 15-20 units to start off with like he initially proposed and with the problems he has had (mentioned below) I can guarantee heads would have rolled with law suits because where business is involved nobody gets away like he let this one slide. Consider yourself blessed!
So as he explained he bought the scooter directly from one of the outlets in Johannesburg which I will refrain from mentioning in fear of putting the wrong sour taste in people's mouths as they are actually top class and sell other quality products to back up their reputable name. So the scooter arrived, my guy did the run in period as he has been doing for God knows how many years, changed the plug and took it for its first spin. He reckons not even 1 hour in and the rear wheel locked up on him at like 45km/ because the bearings in the carrier plate seazed. He pushed it home, pulled the gearbox, replaced bearings with SKF and all was good except for the fact that if you don't have a bearing puller you'd now be paying extra at engineers leaving you without the scoot for a day or two. Anyways 4 days or so later he fires her up and as he does so he notices a horrible sound and witnesses the motor nearly vibrate itself to pieces. Before he can even kill the switch it bogs down and switches off by itself. His mind straight away from having redone engines of all sorts in the past says wrist pin or main bearing is gone but possibly worse as he's never seen engine dance like that before. So he pulls motor and all seems 👍 he then realizes that one of the springs have sheered on the clutch pack which scrubbed itself nicely up against the inside of the casing causing clutch pack to be damaged. He replaced the clutch pack with a race clutch setup from one of his pocket bikes and claims all is good.
After much anticipation we finally get to see this thing in action over the weekend during an event at this particular track. We'll his 11 year old daughter was using it in the pit lanes to create some attention but that lasted a whole 20-30 minutes when she brought it back saying it's knocking and feels funny. He got on it straight away and did a small test ride to establish what was wrong only to return and say it feels like I'm riding a bowl of fruit as the "welds" have cracked. He flipped it over to show us and that when we laughed hard.
My poor guy who is one of the most qualified QAQCs with various certificates in the oil and gas sector to ensure overall entigrity of an oil rig got shafted by a posky looking green thing.
He's been in contact with Mike Puzey over here in South Africa this whole time and the responses he received were shocking. He was made to seem like he was over reacting after concerns of potentially renting such a scooter out which could cause injury as admittance was received from Mike that the bearings are week and defective as he decided to purchase a second gearbox as spares during this time and the bearing in that one was too pocked straight from the shelf... this was all communicated on Whatsapp and the replies are shocking but the final one where after having sent images of the cracks on weld was told quiet arrogantly (IMO) "that he would weld it for him no problem". Screw the fact that my guy can weld any material and inspect his own welding to the highest international accepted standards but no he must pay to courier the scooter back to another province to be welded by the engineer who designed it.... cocky much??? Stuff any acceptance of a product that can clearly just barely last the average person with tons of engineering skills a few hours before broke, stuff the fact that your product made not only your name look bad but the one who vouched for your product in order to keep it local. Stuff the fact that even if you did weld it up for him what about the coating breakdown after all the grinding and welding on those defective areas.... so what the guy must now pay to have the entire thing stripped and repowdercoated just to make a crap product look half crap?
In order to rent this garbage out or even throw a small pitbike jump at it in a scooterX class you'd need to throw so much money at these things to keep the wheels rolling it's scary but not as scary as the quality of the product itself. R12500, R500 courier charges, 3 weeks of ownership, close to R1000 in repairs before welding and powdercoating for 2 hours of solid riding, if that? My maths tells me you'd sink my interests and investments with garbage like this. Shocking Mike!!!
