Truly mezmerizing performance by Jelena and a exquisite version of this volk song classic! The balkans contain some many heart touching songs, i'm so glad that some years ago a guy i know from busking on local carneval invited me into this gypsy volk band. Until that day i never even heard of the style. I was a hip hop head with experience in raping and a drummer. Starting with rock, metal than rap beats on the drums. Later i jammed some afro jam on festivals and with djembes and other percussion instruments i went to the carneval where i met this guy. Funnily enough his name is Gabriel (messenger of god according to the bible). After this time we meet again at the lake to have a jam with his guitar our voices and claves (wooden sticks used in latin music for percussion), but we jammed mostly to balkan gypsy songs. I immediately felt touched and heartwarmed by this unbelievable transcript of human suffering, thats what gypsy music is mainly based on. Its the eternal suffering we humans have to overcome since the day of damnation from paradies. And especially the gypsy people with their long story of being haunted and emitted from their days of babylonia, the romans, the medieval ages, the nazis and now...The way of overcomming this immense pain is by getting together to do music and transcend the bad feelings into something divine! After this session of gypsy jam i went home, with tears in my eyes because i could visiually see before my real eyes, the suffering within this music. Gypsys being thrown out of cities in medieval ages, woman being raped and burnt in nazi times. This tribe of people endured one of the most shocking things in the history of mankind, yet their music is so positive, so full of energy. Thats what i call a miracle!
This is what music basically represents. Its the closest we humans can possibly get to the message of god himself! There is nothing more divine, we humans can even comphrened with our limited being,s that the frequencies of divinity itself manifesting it into music. Thank you for this masterpiece ❤

Ederlezi is a popular traditional folk song of the Romani people in the Balkans.
The song got its name from Ederlezi, which is a festival celebrating the return of springtime, especially by the Romani people (Gypsies) of the Balkans, and elsewhere around the world
