Jack Harkness already kissed the Doctor. Why are people acting like this is new and groundbreaking!? The entire Torchwood show was centered on a gay character and showed multiple gay moments and the way that relationship ended was devastating.
This is not hated because it’s gay, it’s hated because it’s forced.
Jack was a pretty likable character. There were a few cringy moments, but not that many that I can remember. I think new SciFi is more interested in lecturing to the audience rather than telling a good story, or creating interesting characters. I am not going to voluntarily waste my time or money being condescended to by elitist hollywood jerkoffs.
I was thinking the same thing. Jack kissed the Ninth Doctor in season 1 of NuWho. Why are they saying this was the first time?
I liked Jack. First few clips I saw of Bill were enough to tell me my time with Who was over.

Started with Steven Moffat thinking Doctor Who should be prestige television when it simply isn't. It's been overproduced for 15 or so years now; pare back the budget and get some proper writers in, not artsy fartsy theatre kids. Staffers, jobbers, meat and potatoes chaps of the sort that were doing the show back in the 60s and 70s.

We have always been at war with Eastasia.
Indeed, in the classic series there were lords and ladies on Gallifrey, and we never saw them change sex even where different actors played the role in different stories. Gender swapping makes no sense for a society with families. Moffat inserted that in the Doctors wife, and it never existed as an option before that time.

BBC doesn't care. The taxpayers will be forced to subsidize the show. And when the show is ultimately cancelled for good the woke will cheer the final destruction of an other icon of Western culture. Like Star Trek for the US, Doctor Who represented the pinnacle of British culture. British morals were always proven as superior and Britain always prevailed.
But the people in control of these franchises hate Western culture and they hate Great Britain with a ferocity one normally associates with the religious wars of the 15th century or with the Maoist revolution. They will not be satisfied until they have utterly burned the greatest civilization to the ground so that they can rule over the cinders.

The problem is the BBC is funded by the TV licensing fee, so the funding is theoretically unlimited. In the UK, you have to pay it if you own a television. It doesn't matter what you watch or even if you watch TV at all; owning the device is enough to obligate you for the fee. (Same applies to radios.) So UK consumers don't have the power of the purse regarding television that they would for cinema, for example. If you're outside the UK, though, you can make it unprofitable for the BBC's distribution costs by just not watching Dr. Who.
@@m1lkb0n3z There is a misunderstanding here. Owning a TV does not obligate you to have a tv licence. It is only if you watch or record TV as it is being broadcast or use IPlayer. If you only watch via catchup, streaming or use youtube etc you do not need one.

RTD was in charge of New Who back then too, right? Asshole doesn't even remember his own stories now. No one involved in modern Who remember it. They don't care about the past. Never thought I would say Doctor Who is a program I can't allow my children to watch without supervision.

After watching a couple of episodes of "season 1", my family decided to go back and watch season 1 with Eccleston. Such a superior series. Jack was openly bisexual and kissed the Doctor in the last episode. The thing is, that was done in a playful manner. It's like it's all in good fun. Now it's pushed as "This is the right way and you have to accept it or you're the problem."
Furthermore, Ncuti Gatwa (and Jodie Whitaker) Do Not have the charisma to play the Doctor.
It takes a special type to play a character that is equally whimsical, alien, nerdy, and terrifying as the Doctor, while still being able to convince anyone and everyone to come along on an incredible journey.
When they make the episodes and series' as gigantic self-inserts or for DEI/ESG, you're told not to watch... it's not made for you.
When you don't watch, you're called an istaphobe.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't... The only way to win is to ignore them all and go your own way... The east has some good entertainment left for us (for now at least).
I'm gay and I don't want the Doctor to have any kind of sexuality. When RTD gave him one back in 2005 a lot of us complained and his response was no different than it is today, "It's my show, I do what I want!" A lot of our straight fan friends pooed pooed us but you see where they took this now...
I never gave a crap about g4ys... I'm a live and let live guy... But I'm also the kind of guy that doesn't like PDA of any kind (do it in the privacy of you own home or not at all), and dislike it even more in entertainment (movies, shows, games (SPECIALLY GAMES!!)). I like Sci FI, Adventure, Fantasy, Action... Hate Romance, S3x, PDA, Drama in any kind of media, so don't mix in that crap, stick to one genre, so people who like one genre and enjoy it without having to take all the others on it!
Its not that hard really, most great movies and shows of old, had a little of romance/PDA mixed in, without being the main focus and without wasting much time on it just to please a female demographic (because males care little about it anyways).
Ass to that the fact that the Doctor is centuries old, so anyone he meets, especially form Earth, is generations too young for him.

Doctor Who, like many other things, has been dying a slow death for years, and people’s interest in it has dwindled steadily and inevitably for me and many others it has now disappeared entirely. I’m sure these destroyers are happy that they’ve watched us bury another thing we once loved. It’s the act of ripping something apart that gives them any happiness at all, but that moment of triumph is always fleeting, never sustainable. An endless hunger that consumes them. Eventually they’ll find themselves surrounded by ruins and nothing left to break.
These ratings disasters don’t spell well for the future for entertainment. Anything they do from now on won’t be measured by ratings and profits, it’s all about mind manipulation, the message and social engineering- at ANY cost

The doctor is thousands of years old, from a culture not bound to physical motivations as humans are, and as a rule…doesn’t pursue romantic or sexual relations with his companions. Torchwood introduces a “pansexual” character as a means to get it into the show.

Torchwood was well received and Captain Jack had open gay relations with some of the characters.
There was even a scene where Ianto's sister was questioning him about his relationship with Jack where he justified that he wasn't really gay.... It's just Jack.
Sexuality is truly not the issue. It's how hamfisted THE MESSAGE(tm) is.

It's pretty easy. The former at least had compelling stories, at present all they have is box checking.
Look at how they market their shows now. They lead with box checking but barely if at all talk about the actual story. The Acolyte is a great example, look at how much time they spend talking about the various boxes checked but very little in the way of descriptive language describing the series itself.

The difference is how they portray it. In older shows with progressive themes, they just let things play out and didn't draw attention to it but now they _have_ to talk about it. About how _gay_ it is, how it _breaks glass ceilings_ and all that kind of junk. Doesn't help when we have access to the thoughts of the people behind the show and all they talk about is how fans are toxic, evil, misogynists for not falling in line while they force their ham fisted message into everything aspect of a once beloved property. If anything, their methods are only going to make things worse for the lgbtq+ community, I already can't tolerate the T and Q parts of that community because of how absolutely obnoxious, self righteous, and entitled their most public people act among other reasons.

The thing is is that Russell T Davis has the absolute cheek to call us all homophobes. Forgetting that when he wrote Queer as Folk and It’s a Sin people loved those shows, it’s a sin was even put up for awards. It’s the fact that they are shoehorning an agenda into a sci-fi series. When they write a show about gay people, people watch it but not when they just want to push the message into a show that isn’t supposed to have the message in it.
TBH... as a gay man myself I don't even want this shoved into all our shows. Something like this can be seen as progressive if it's organic and worked into a show in a natural way. They don't do that. They have bad writing, bad acting an d then decide to push in every social agenda into each and every show. No one appreciates this. This is by no means something most gay fans are asking for or even appreciate.
I get the feeling this kind of stuff isn't even made _for_ gay people, but to impress other, mostly non-gay, progressives with how much they're doing to advance the agenda. Or make them jealous by parading their really expensive, upper class and high-level virtue-signaling even better than everyone else trying to climb that totem pole.

The key difference between this garbage and the DS9 episode where Jadzia Dax kissed another woman, was that DS9 wasn't a wokefest, had likeable well developed characters, that it serves a purpose in the story... *and* that it was seriously hot 😂 .

Ironically Doctor Who had a kind of moment like DS9's when Toshiko in Torchwood repeatedly kissed a female alien... though that worked (and the series wasn't the same after Tosh' was killed off) and was popular because it was still years before the woke misandry became overt.
It comes from a place of utter spite towards long term, real fans. Only a retcon from 2017 onwards will save it.

I wonder if these actors and actresses have secret misgivings when they consider that their skin color or their sexual orientation are more important than their skill or accomplishments. If that diminishes on a conscious or unconscious level how much they feel like they've earned their success. It's easy to think that they're simply woke and wholeheartedly believe in it, but given simple statistics there have to be some who are self-aware enough to realize what's happening. That perhaps all this double-downing is a form of over-compensation in the face of the reality of their own perceived status as objects used for self-aggrandizement by progressives and such, instead of people. Ironic how the side of the aisle that congratulates itself for being so anti-racist, non-sexist, and non-istaphobe are the ones parasitically practicing those very sins the most.
The character is acting completely different than previous versions. In addition to pushing an agenda, they changed the character into essentially a different person, but kept the same name.
It's all Disney's fault.
Everythin they touch turns into shit: Star Wars, Marvel, Willow, Indiana Jones, Simpsons, Alien ... and now, Doctor Who.

No, I disagree. They're not trying to make it a niche show for the so-called "progressive" and "highly educated". I think it's in fact meant for a general audience every single time they take over a franchise. They really think that they can "re-educate" the masses by doing this. Why else go after established franchises? They could just make something new if it was purely meant for "the avantgarde" among us.

Doctor Who was never overtly sexual in any way. While we all may have speculated about what went on behind the doors of the TARDIS between episodes, it was not shown on screen.
The Classic series' last producer John Nathan-Turner-- who was a homosexual, by the way-- had a rule: "No hanky-panky in the TARDIS." 🙂

Thanks. You just confirmed what most of us knew what would be happening now and forevermore. No thanks. Not watching - no way. I will admit I have never been a Dr. Who fan. To this Star Trek fan, Dr. Who always seemed "hokey" but I could at least watch it in the past with my wife or family member who were fans. It seems now a days, forcing "THE MESSAGE" on viewers is more important than making money or getting ratings. It would be total Karma if DIsney went broke over their love affair with forcing the message. My feelings are the world will continue to be increasingly corrupt until almighty God decides "enough" and intervenes.

Even the 7 days +4 screens ratings for the previous episode have tanked, at just 3.38 million. Sylvester McCoy was getting more viewers on the night when the BBC has placed Doctor Who opposite Coronation Street as a deliberate ploy to destroy the show.

As a Whovian I have fifty plus years of classic Who to watch, I won't be watching this. Slow Clap to the activists who destroyed their own show congratulations when your show finally ends we Whovians won't remember you in a week. Hartnell was the first Doctor Capaldi was the last.

@@MaskedMan66 considering the Show became something else a completely different show abandoning its central premise of a Nerdy Guy traveling through Space and Time with Beautiful Women when Whittaker took over. I count everything before this as Classic Dr Who now. That's forty so years of television fifty if you count all the spin off movies like Invasion Earth with Peter Cushing.

I didn't make up the terms. It's Classic Who for the 1963 - 1989 series and all that accompanied it (including the two Cushing movies, the three stage plays, and the telefilm), and NuWho for everything (for better and for worse) from 2005 on. I didn't invent the distinction, and, in the words of Dickens, "my unhallowed hand shall not disturb it." 🙂

Lastly if RTD and his ILK can come into an existing franchise with an already existing fan base and utterly pervert and destroy it for a political and social agenda. My father was a drug addict. When I was a baby, my parents separated because my deadbeat father had become a junkie, taking on heroin. This left my mother to raise me on her own. when I was in my late twenties, I had found out at some point he had quit, however had contracted HIV from sharing needles- which ended up killing him. My mother warned me from a young age to never do drugs, and to promise to be a better man then my father was. Now, at the age of 37, I can say without any doubt that I have never even considered to try drugs, including heroin. I am a little regretful of this however, as although I never touched a dirty needle, Russel T Davies and Ncuti Gatwa gave me aids anyways.
I was wondering where this was going and what in the world it had to do with Doctor Who, but you got me in the end lol 😂. My condolences to your health.
