BIRD PHOTOGRAPHY ADVENTURE ON A KAYAK - A new perspective

  • In photography, we strive to get new perspectives - see our subject in a new and different way. To do so, photographers use all kinds of gear and methods - and buy new lenses. It was a revolution when drones became a standard photography tool for landscape photography. Suddenly, we could look down from the sky and fly into the world like birds. The floating hides were also a revolution for bird photography. In both cases, we got a new perspective. In this video, we use a kayak for bird photography on the longest day of the year, ending with landscape photography.

“Call it a good day?” Heck, it was an incredible day. About time for Nikon Europe to send you a Z8. You guys are incredible photographers and brand ambassadors.

Thank you David. It war a really-good day. As for Nikon - we are not exactly expecting them to contact us. The other two big brands have already asked us to change over and be ambassadors, but we are still with Nikon. When great UA-camrs like Thomas Heaton with over 500K subscribers does not get a free Z8, there is no hope for us. :-) We have focused our videos on the photography, not so much the gear - so far. On the other hand, we are perfectly happy with our two Nikon Z7ii bodies. Let´s not forget, the sensors in these cameras is similar.

Loved your video, I often photograph from my kayak, in fact yesterday morning and this morning while visiting our lake house I kayaked with the Common Loons so I understand the peace and tranquillity being on the water can create. Thanks for sharing your adventures.

UN VÍDEO REALMENTE IMPRESIONANTE Y A LA VEZ RELAJANTE. ESE MAR EN CALMA Y LAS AVES POSANDO PARA VOSOTROS, CON UN PUNTO DE VISTA DISTINTO Y MUY AGRADECIDO. PAZ Y TRANQUILIDAD EN ESTADO PURO, ENHORABUENA PAREJA.

I used a 14 ft Wilderness Systems tsunami touring kayak to photograph different shore birds, eagles and ospreys photographing while you are literally shitting on the water is a different photographic experience to say the least ,,but you can photograph birds in a way that can't from shore.

Your videos and images are by a long way my favourite on UA-cam. Really inspirational stuff, great locations and no annoying promotional stuff. What I like most about your videos is the honesty. You just show what you do, and don’t tell others what they should be doing. Your channel really is a breath of fresh air.

What a relaxing and amazing video, I love the pictures of the Puffins, unfortunately we don’t have them here in Denmark/Bornholm. But we have cliffs and a minor area where the Razerbill and Guillemot live in the spring and summer😁👍

Stunning! Photographically speaking, it must be difficult to call it a day when the sun sets but immediately rises again. Under Midnight Sun conditions, is there a period of inactivity for the wildlife? Do the birds and animals settle down or disappear for long periods of time, or do they rest for pockets of time throughout the day?

Not really. This type of kayak is very steady and by being careful when handling the camera it is ok. Keeping it all the time in a waterproof bag is recommended. On the other hand, there is always the risk of something unexpected happening, but that's life and not much one can do about it. The adventure is worth the risk.
