- What's up survivors in todays video we take a look at 5 different horde base designs for the console version of 7 Days To Die. All of these designs have a lot of room for improvement but my goal is for people to take something away from each base and use it to create your own ultimate hordebase!

I took the book store just east of the trader on the main road. It started out with a wide ditch and spikes. I ended up digging a tunnel through the mountain across the street to the river for resources. Concrete and iron bars for walls and an escape tunnel that goes east to the house at the corner. Built a kill shack down the street by the hospital thats concrete and iron bars. I just light some fires and wait. It's been a while but I think I'm almost to day 700.
I also found with the melee base, lining the outside with barbed wire before placing spikes stopped them popping through!
That floating base is wild! I can't wait to see you build it in the Lets Play!❤
Yea they are pretty cool, I will be doing a building tutorial for it in the next week! The one we are building in the lets play will be a bit bigger and crazier though 👍
The first base is my go to. I usually farm enough and cobble for a 7x7 center (9x9 footprint) to make a comfy base for day 7. I usually make it my goal to have a concrete one around day 35/42 just in case lol. Its my old reliable.
Hell yeah its personally my favourite too it truly is a flawless base!

First one is great and it rarely takes damage. I made an underground base with an exit leading to an above ground “garage” with a hatch and jail door so I can pull my mini bike right in, close the door and escape to my lair below. The other “exit” comes up from the bottom of that first kill station. Wayyyy better than trying to make a massive wall around a building.
I tried this build with my brother and for some reason when the corpses roll down the wedges after a few seconds they all dissappear so I get no loot 😭

Thank you for your time …was wondering if maybe you’d do a vid on zombie pathing ….I’ve been looking for vids and all of them are based on later alphas . I’ve made a base that involves them climbing stairs and walking down a walkway in which I am at the end behind a wall …I cannot get them to follow that path ..instead they just hang around the bottom of the 5x5 I’m sitting in lol…anyway thank you for your time !

And just some additional info that might help…I did put doors along the path I wanted them to follow ..tried open and closed ..and they just ignored them…instead they throw themselves into my 4 rows of spikes 🙄😂…according to the vids I’ve watched they’re supposed to go towards the path of least existence …smh ..oh and it’s just a plain wood door …a few hits destroys it

I like to put a wood crate down just as a marker,then a cop may path to it when it's by the base,plop a land mine in front of the crate and presto it buys you time to get a shot,if they miss the mine, Kutgw
I used the 1st one but imma definitely use the small drop base for sure

It’s good to line the roof with railings too; You can shoot through Wood Railings pretty effectively but they do have a respective hitbox… funny enough I am certain you cannot fall through them, you can walk across them (but you bob a bit lol) meaning they too in a way are a cheap iron bar. They can also easily be upgraded with one forged iron to a 300hp iron fence but it has a wonky hitbox. It can also be shot through but the higher durability also makes it more vision obscuring. The wood railings are very easy to see through. One last note is if you do ever use railings anyone remember to rotate and that the edges won’t line up pixel perfect due to the voxels 😅
Yea i thought about putting railings up but didnt want to put to much weight up there, you can also rotate iron bars and iron grates on there side and use them as railings 👍
Oh that’s true guess it’s all by design in the end though! The grates and their counterparts weigh less than the fence, do you know? I don’t xD
Thats a good question im not to sure i will have to look into that, I wouldnt recommend any type of railing though if you plan on shooting explosives down!
I'm currently building the first one but under ground with a pit fall all around it so a mixture of 1 and 3 with a mine to bed rock your random gen series has lite a fire to get back into this game and these extra side info vids are helping me to play the game in new ways well done keep up the good work not many gamers posting stuff for console

A 3x3 or 4x4 pit with ramps on the outside to easily get out and a tower in the middle, bars along the inner wall laying flat so you can shoot through and will stop spiders the pits wide enough the dogs can’t get across and if built right you can jump across to the tower where you’re gonna fight the horde no traps needed except maybe barb wire to slow them down on the outer walls to slow them down by the time you get the hybirds you should already have it upgraded to concrete maybe even stainless steal
I think I like the 1st one the best. It's simple, doesn't require a ton of resources, and it WORKS. And hitting the zombies with melee is easier in that one than the vertical concrete column design. I wack the columns more than I hit the zombies. 🤣
Just watch the crawlers they can sneak in from any side you get a build up of zombie bodies so kill loot and get rid of bodies to help avoid this good luck
I always sucked melee, so I always built the 50 poles. It never gets zombies pushed through...but it does get hit so you have to keep it repaired till you get concrete. But it rocks for ranged and keeping bodies if you want the bones, rotting flesh, animal fat...
Yea the pole and wedge tip is my favourite too, If youve watched my day 210 hordenight in my main world you will see it fully upgraded as my end game hordebase and it works wonders! Never had a breach or any issues, Pillar 50 is good but im the same i hit 50% of the time 😅

I went old school with my horde base.... WW2 style, lol. Dug a tunnel from my home base to the horde base, and it's still holding up pretty well.... mines help out a bit😅

I took control of the Dishong Tower, and I patched up all the broken areas, set up mines, spikes, pitfalls, barbed wire, etc inside and around the tower, and made the penthouse my base, it's survived the dangers of the apocalypse for 89 days straight, with only minor damage taken.

Ok, another comment. With your structural woes on that one base, have you ever tried the diagonal reinforcement beams? I had a cave in on my pit base a while ago so added these to all the corners and didn't get a second cave in. They don't really get in the way, but I have never used that base on hoard night. (Did get a couple wandering hoards though)
Ive never actually tryed them before so i might have to look into it, I did think of lining the pillars with plates on there sides to help with structural integrity 👍
The pole is my favorite by far. I like the idea of a pitfall base a lot but I tried the pillar 50s on the current playthrough that im on and I hate them. Im constantly smacking them instead of the zombies. They do work really well if you're using a gun/bow/xbow
Yea i have the same problem with pillar 50 😅 Never level the breaking and entering perk while using these bases lol
I hit the poles a lot as well, but I pretty much have discarded my club and go exclusive machete. From my standpoint I am going to carve up the corpses anyways and the machete does it in one hit. Also I think bladed weapons get between the poles better for some reason (just a guess/observation, not sure if it's true) and when I do hit the poles, the block damage is less, especially if you have leveled up the breaking and entering skill.
I know that the clubs have longer reach than the bladed weapons but the machete is good you just have to make sure you use it untill the quality hits zero before you repair it so you can get the most out of it 👍

I just run around with a spiked club but this also works

They do damage to the zombies and your character no matter what direction the spikes make contact.
I think I am going to try building the wedge tip and poles in my new random gen. Also, how do you do upside down wooden log spikes?
Just rotate the spike and place it point down
Its definitely the base i would recommend to build just make sure you build out of cobblestone and upgrade to concrete and then steel, and yea with the spikes you just rotate them until they go upside down 👍

Does anyone get a glich on their minibike on multiplayer worlds where it deletes their hot bar as I have gotten it 2 times now and its deleted all my weapons and my auger ect
I built the pitfall one and the only negative thing is on blood moons the zombies get stuck up top spinning in circles not damaging anything.
How deep did you dig it? I had the same problem with a pitfall in my main world but it was 35 blocks deep, Also how wide was the hole? Anything wider than 3 and they usually wont run in.

My question is...can you shoot rockets through grates and other hole ish blocks, can you throw dynamite through them... can you shoot exploding bolts through them.
The reason I ask, I have dabbled a bit with exploding bolts and rockets and on a couple of occasions I have blown myself up. I haven't nailed down for sure how I blew up, but I am worried it was trying to shoot through something I normally do, but explosives won't go...?
Thats a good question now i figured this out the hard way and the answer is NO 😅 thats why its good to leave an open spot to throw or shoot explosives from because yea it blows you up straight away lol
I think I will try a floater next, so when ever you get around to a tutorial...;)
Upside-down spikes looks cool. I will have to try that. Would that make the gore blocks more stable?
Sweet i will be working on that tutorial in the next week 👍 The gore blocks should act the same on the spikes upside down, One will stay on one spike but the gore blocks wont stack.
I think ima going to try combine the first Cage base with the pitfall base so they cant break it but I dont know if I should put a floor on the upside down spike as i dont know if they will break lol
That sounds like a great idea! If you can kill them quick enough then the spikes definitely help because you can repair them and replace them from inside your base but they arnt needed, Let me know how your build goes 👍
@@NaturalBornNZ it whent quite well actually I play on insane difficulty and there easy still so anything under is a peice of cake the only problem is they break there legs majority of the time so they can hit the bottem bar but it's easy to repair so it dosent matter to much. I have also reinforced it all the steel and it works well I'm just waiting to get cops to see how much damage it does
Yea im not to sure how much damage cops do on insane, Ive only had a couple of runs on insane and lets just say i didnt last very long 😅
I build one block high perimeter around my base and most of the zombies just cant get over it until i move closer. Do you know if the direction where the horde starts spawning is random? I feel like they spawn opposite direction where player is looking but im not sure 😄
Yea i considered making a base with wooden farm fences around it 😅 I have actually tested this before and its 100% random 👍

God damn this game looks so different compared to pc, are corridor type bases unviable because they have different ai?
Yes i have tryed them once or twice but because zombie ai isnt the smartest on console instead of pathing to hatches in a hallway most of them just start beating on walls 😅 I do need to do some more testing though because im sure theres a way to make it work 👍

Yea they take damage once they land on the spikes, Even if the spikes are upside down 👍

It depends on difficulty, zombie kills and how many times youve died but usually around day 28-35 give or take a week 👍

I keep meds in inventory. If needed I will use between waves. Thus if I die I have them in my inventory still. I also keep two extra clubs in base. In case I die I still have a weapon.
I keep block durability at 25% at all times. So honestly utilizing a base is not recommended. They'd destroy it lol 😆 😂 🤣
Yea ive never messed around with block durability before for that exact reason lol but i enjoy the building aspect of this game, When i do a hordenight on foot ill prob have

@@NaturalBornNZ to be fair I'm ADHD. I do not have the ability to wait nor spend the resources busting open safes lol. Only way I can justify that action is to ensure I to suffer that disadvantage.
So I get my guy on and he builds a China wall. Then I get him all the resources for scrap iron spiked logs. Then hold the wall 😁. I still prefer to be in the middle of it. Push some shit in and get my shit pushed in. Always fun lol

No sadly :( really sucks, but they would probably be OP. I wouldn’t complain though lol. Fire in console is effective as hecc, fire arrows are good but you don’t want to waste them, best used on annoying zombies like spiders or crawlers or tougher male ones. Innacurate too oof
@@hotcheerios6973 Yeah but unfortunately the flames from the fire arrows doesn't spread to other zombies which is what fire is supposed to be good at lol
True i just usually do the base where you shoot down at them, but I have a thick wall (gun safe in ground) and have plenty of ammo… i rly do wish fire spread, can you imagine the early hordes? Haha

Number one is my favorite probably because I've been watching your play thru. The floating base I don't care for because it's sorta cheating. Its cool looking but not for me.
Yea number one is my favourite too if you watch my main base tour you will see the pole and wedge tip at its full potential! Yea i agree with the floating base but im not 100% sure if its fully indestructable i will be building it in my lets plays to test a few things with it 👍
How In the everloving fuck do you get them to float in the last one like that???
If you use plates they still count as a full block. Visually and physically it only takes up a small part of the block, but structurally it works like a full block.

Yea the trick is to place one plate down so its facing the ground and rotate another plate on top so its facing the sky and rinse and repeat until you have your desired height! Let me know if you want a tutorial 👍
