Hi Dr. Jo, thanks for the explanation of all these symptoms. I bought a new mattress (memory foam) two months ago thinking I would improve my sleep, I have sleep apnea and also added the adjustable base. As nights went by I started having numbness in my buttocks in the morning and started having numbness in both legs on and off! I finally changed the mattress, but I think I really put pressure on my lower spine / buttocks for the two months I was using this mattress. I went for an mri and I do have buldging disc L3-L4 / L4-L5 and small herniated disc L3-L4 plus light central stenosis L4-L5 and probably DDD also. My pain got worst and I couldn’t sit anymore. My Osteopath help me relieve the piriformis and SI that was also causing pain. The problem is I don’t know what is causing my numbness in both legs and buttocks. Very hard to find the source when you have all of it at the same time. You think the mattress could have been the cause of this situation!? Since I already have a bad spine, I guess this didn’t help!!! I will I be able to reverse it 😮
Thank you doctor jo! Helpful to all who suffer from back pain and disc problems, myself included. Stenosis is a new term to me, been dealing with this off and on for a decade now, just had second mri which showed bulged and extruding discs l4-5, l5-s1 with annular fissure and stenosis. Not quite sure what it all means yet but it does hurt!
Dr Jo you are so helpful- thank you for all the videos. Wish you lived in the UK! I’ve got lots of people I’ve shared your video with who are in my support group . They gave MSK conditions and arthritis.
I've had leg pain down back of right leg for a year or so, especially behind knee, and tightening where it becomes hard to walk down stairs as it stiffens up - And terrible throbbing pain that keeps me awake at night. Now the knee of my left leg is painful, in front - so I'm becoming more alarmed. I suspect a large amount of driving a small car as a tall, long person started these issues, combined with walking a lot in the city with perhaps not ideal shoes. I will try these exercises as I just started reading about how leg pain can really be about the spine - Sidenote, I was working out a lot, mostly weightlifting with squats and other full body routines, regularly for years but then the Covid era stopped it all, I've yet to get back to exercising. By the way I am a Gen X age person

Does walking help the bulging disk? I do have that pain around my back down the middle of my butt, down my leg to my knee, and my feet are numb. When I walk, it seems to loosen everything up and help the pain. Sitting and being in bed are the pain activators.
@AskDoctorJo Ii have the sciatic pain from lower spine vertebrae degeneration.. however it affects my left hip and i have tightness (like ive walked up 1000 steps!) In the front of my left thigh. Do you have a video on loosening the front of the thigh and relieving pain please? Thankyou

Can you offer some sort of suggestion on getting out of a pool using a handicap ramp, and avoiding the pain of getting out of the water from what appears to a gravity or hydrostatic pressure on my joints? The pain dissipates after I get out of the pool, but the pain is excoriating trying to get out of the water. I hope this makes sense. I’m in agony when I am exiting the pool.
That is very common. It's your body trying to get use to gravity again. Maybe try going very slow (if you have time). Going just a few steps, then stopping to let your body adjust to gravity at a slower rate.
Hi Dr. JO, I just watched you top 5 pelvic floor exercise for 3yrs ago and noticed that pillow you're using. I have lots of trouble with neck pain and have tried several different types of pillows, but the one you were using looks like a problem solver. Would it be possible to provide me with some info on where I can purchase this pillow? Thanks in advance.
The one I was using in that video is called the Womfy, but it’s no longer available. I have reviewed a few other pillows including the SleepOvation pillow. You can find the review here: ua-cam.com/video/v-Nq8qm7RQk/v-deo.html or you can use this link to purchase it: shrsl.com/23jww (affiliate link)

@@AskDoctorJo but seriously doc I have had pain in my wrist for 6 years (I’m 25). The pain only occurs when I press my hand against something. I stumbled upon your tendinitis video and I was like Hol up. This could be my problem. So I ordered a splint, a tennis ball and rubber bands. Now I’m gonna do the exercises you demonstrated for the next few months and let’s see what happens! If it gets better I’ll send you a plushie and chocolates.

New subscriber as of today! I have sciatic issues. Could you please suggest a good cardio routine for those that have sciatic problems?
Thanks! It depends on where it's coming from, but low impact exercises are less likely to flare it up. I can add it to my list of videos to make.

Yes, sitting on the toilet bowl for a long time. That's the culprit!
I swear this is true. Happened to me 3 days ago.
Did you follow these exercises?
Did you help any relief from the pain?
But the real question is, did you really eat tacos in Mexico
I did! 😎
